Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)
This is your Maine getaway, the one you have been searching for! Perfect for the couple who want to experience the coast of Maine from the water's edge and not a cramped hotel room. The cottage sits on a large lot with its larger 2 bedroom sister cottage 'Lofty' (VRBO# 165589) about 200 feet away. Rent one or if you prefer rent both and have the grounds and dock all to yourself...sort of your own family vacation compound.
Just a few steps outside the cottage and down a gently sloping path is A HUGE DEEP WATER dock (not tidal) with large deck/landing and open ocean views. The dock is shared with Lofty Cottage. The is the BEST part of the cottage and a lot of fun. There is a nice picnic table on the landing so you can enjoy a quiet meal and gaze at the beautiful views. The dock is shared with Lofty (VRBO 165589). Kayak and or swim and enjoy your fresh Maine lobster on your own dock! (Kayaks are not provided) Kids and adults alike will enjoy pulling up the lobster trap and seeing what sea treasures are inside.
Water views from every room. Located on a dead end gravel road typical of Harpswell, a mix of local color, cottages and fisherman. This cute one bedroom cottage is perfect for relaxing on the ocean and enjoying the outdoors. Private yet only minutes from downtown Brunswick including Bowdoin College, the Maine State Music Theater, restaurants and shops. Fully renovated in 2007 and further updated 2017 this cottage features a knotty pine interior, new appliances and a full bath with large shower. In response to guest feedback we have added additional kitchen storage and work space. The bedroom was also redecorated!
The cottage has a comfy knotty pine living room with cathedral ceiling that opens into a small deck just feet from the waters edge. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening drink as you watch the ospreys dive and the seals swim. The living room has a small color TV with DVD player for leisure time as well as mini stereo with mp3 player plug in capability. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessities including a big lobster pot.
Kayak to Little Snow island or interior Quahog Bay (see link below for more information on the island). This is a very neat kayak trip. (Kayaks not provided, bring your own or rent at nearby facilities)
If you like hikes and are looking for a wonderful one, Karen and I recommend Morse Mountain Preserve owned by Bates College in Phippsburg.. It's a 4 mile loop that leads to Seawall Beach, the views are incredible and the hike is doable even with kids. For more information see the link below.
Attention Boaters....there is a mooring available that will handle up to a 30' boat, if you need to arrive by boat or moor at the house for the week. We are getting many inquiries from sailors who want to arrive by boat. The mooring and dock are available with prior arrangements and a small additional fee for use of the mooring.
Cozy is the perfect place for a quiet retreat. Compared to a hotel this is a wonderful value and a great way to experience the coast of Maine. To get a bird's eye view use google earth. Just click on the 'See All My Rental Listings'. Please e mail us with any specific questions about any of our listings.
Renting a private home is different than staying at a hotel. It is important to ask questions before you reserve and to have realistic expectations. We have done our best to describe our properties, however, guest expectations vary. If you have special requests or needs please ask before you reserve. We want to avoid renter's remorse or the old "this was not what I thought it was going to be like". In most cases guests never asked any questions!!!! Refunds at the time of check in are not permitted.
PS. Ask about our long term rentals...maybe stay the summer!

Great location, great hosts, great stay!
We spent a very restful week at cozy cottage, and hated to leave. My husband and I have been renting homes in Maine for the past 11 years, so we are very familiar with the entire coast. This cottage is about as waterfront as you can get. We enjoyed watching the boats, the birds, the ducks and other wildlife. The cottage is small, but it was perfect for the two of us and our dog. The kitchen is well-equipped and all the furniture was comfortable. Nothing like waking up to view a lovely sunrise from your bed!
Second Stay This Year & Reservations Already Made For 2018
No amount of praise is enough either about this special place or about the congenial, thoughtful and responsive owners, John and Karen.
After our first stay in June, John wanted to know our thoughts about our stay and our impressions of the cottage. We had a spectacular time and loved the cottage. We had a suggestion about making a change in the layout of the bedroom that would eliminate a door to the bathroom creating more space.
We returned for another wonderful stay this October and they had already implemented the bedroom update (apparently within a couple weeks of our June stay).
Can't wait to return next June!
Truly Cozy in All Senses
Cozy Cottage is very aptly named. Sitting at the edge of a cove, this 2-person cottage has everything—sitting area overlooking the water, eat-in kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, and full size fridge. Bedroom is comfy with views. Great access to local (and outstanding) food, plus proximity to towns (e.g., Bath, Brunswick) within 30 minutes. Plus, not far to L.L. Bean flagship. Overall, Cozy Cottage is fabulous. The only drawback for us was having to leave after only a week.
Hi John Hi Christine
Thank you so much for the feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We will continue to improve the cottage in the future so we hope you can return!

Dick and Joanne from Vermont
Cozy Cottage is the perfect size for two people. It has everything needed for a a pleasant stay for a couple of days or a week or more. The water is so close you feel that you're almost in it -- just a few steps away.
There is a huge dock that is shared with Lofty (next door) but unfortunately the fog, rain and cool temperatures kept us from doing much outdoors. Luckily there are lots of things to do nearby -- shopping, sightseeing, hiking and of course eating. L.L. Bean is only a half hour or less away and we spent a day there going through both the main store and the outlet across the street. We would certainly recommend Gritty's Brewery for lunch in Freeport.
There are several excellent restaurants close to Cozy -- The Dolphin was excellent particularly their hot out of the oven blueberry muffins
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cozy Cottage to anyone.
Hi Dick Hi Joanne
Thank you so much taking the time to leave a review. We would have tweaked the weather for you if we could have!! Thank you so much for staying at Cozy. We appreciate your feedback and we value your opinion greatly. Have a wonderful fall in Vermont. It must be so beautiful.

Everything about our stay was a perfect 10!
"Cozy" was even more charming in person than online! The owners thought of everything - fully stocked kitchen, wifi, cable tv, towels, linens etc. We lacked for nothing. The view from every room was stunning and the dock provided ample space for reading, putting in our kayaks - just hanging out. In just 20 minutes you can be in Brunswick for a movie and shopping OR on Bailey's Island exploring the Giant Stairs, having lunch at Cooks OR taking a drive down 123 to the Dolphin Marina for a beautiful dinner. We LOVED this vacation spot and will definitely make a return trip. Thank-you!
The Town of Harpswell, located on Casco Bay, Is a short scenic ride from Portland, Freeport, Bath and Boothbay Maine. Harpswell is the unspoiled coastal community that is accessible by way of the beautiful Bowdoin College town of Brunswick. Harpswell is a unique coastal community which recently celebrated its 250th birthday. For over 100 years Harpswell has been a mecca for vacationers seeking a saltwater environment, a serene way of life, and an abundance of natural beauty. Its 216 miles of coastline consists of Harpswell Neck, the three large islands of Sebascodegan (Great Island), Orr’s, and Bailey, which are connected by bridges, the most notable being The Cribstone Bridge, and a scattering of over 200 smaller islands accessible only by boat. With some of the few remaining working harbors on the Maine coast, it offers an authenticity of which we are proud. Harpswell has it all! Light houses, Ocean views, walking trails, beaches, Historical sites, working lobster harbors and marinas all here in the Mid Coast Maine region.
