About William Guido & Nancy Ricciardi
Our cabin was purchased by me in the year 2000 as my primary residence. With its intrinsic charm and river location, it was perfect for me to pursue my passion as a painter with its quiet, lovely light and sleeping porch studio. As a Sonoma County painter of long standing whose landscape emphasis is water, this was the perfect location. In 2001, Guido (William) and I were married here, under the backyard arbor and though the house was not big enough to support our marriage, we have kept it, cared for it, and now wish to share it with you. All paintings in the house were done by me, and these giclees are available for purchase (see price list in binder).

Why William Guido & Nancy Ricciardi chose Forestville
What makes this house stand out is its location. Situated next to the redwood forest, sitting in the sun and a block from the beach gives the best combination of what the Russian River area is about.
What makes this House unique
The home looks like a house on the exterior while inside it is a cabin with knotty pine paneling throughout and open beam ceiling in the living room. The only drywall in the house is located in the bathroom and closets. My dream had always been to have a fireplace flanked by french doors, I walked in and there it was. The cabin embraces you with a feeling of peace and serenity the moment you step inside.

We had a great visit to a wonderful cabin tucked away, but close to some great wine tasting and dining. The cabin was so relaxing and pleasant, with wonderful hosts that we’ll have to think of another excuse to go back!
We’re delighted that you enjoyed your stay.....and look forward to your return. One of the things we love best about our cabin (besides the forest, river, and peacefulness) is it’s central location, so close to everything! Until next time...all the best.
The cabin was pretty nice. I think a little maintenance in and around would go a long way. The outside was riddled with spiders and the back yard looked like it’d never been touched before. All of the furniture in the back was rusted. The bed wasn’t very comfortable. Other than that, it was nice and cozy. The location was close to some great wineries.
Daniel, so glad you found our cabin nice and cozy, and also conveniently located. We’re happy you were able to taste some of the really superior wines offered in our region.
We’re sorry you missed the point of our garden. As I am writing, we are awaiting our “Habitat Garden” designation! It’s true, the garden looks as if no one has ever touched it. This time of the year, the wild mint, verbena, strawberries and other unnamed “weeds” appear as total neglect. In reality, these are still vital food sources for our endangered Western Monarchs, Pipe-vine Swallowtails and a slew of other necessary beneficial insects. My clippers are dying to take these messy looking plants to the ground, but I need to wait until November. In addition to plants, we have also provided water, shelter and nesting materials for use by the many species of migrating song birds and our local feathered friends.
Ah, our spiders! Alas, you would never believe we de-web on a weekly basis. It’s spider season, and as long as our leggy neighbors stay outside and do their jobs eliminating the bad bugs, we don’t mind. We hope you noticed, however, that on the inside we use electric sonic devises and totally natural geranium oil to discourage them from coming in.
Also, we would like to thank you for using our cabin so gently. When we went to clean, the place looked well cared for! Such a treat for us. We look forward to your next visit. All the best. Guido and Nancy
Overall, this place is super cute!
Thank you. We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay....we enjoyed hosting you!
Everything was very nice and just right for our family stay. Being able to smell and be surrounded the redwoods in the mornings was amazing! We hope to be able to return as we wished we could stay longer.
There is nothing like the smell of the redwoods in the morning....all that pure air! Thank you for your lovely review. We look forward to your next visit!
Great spot for a weekend getaway.
The house was very clean and homey. The description was very accurate and the communication from William was on point. Also a nice short walk to Mother’s beach. The house comfortably fit our family (4 adults & 2 kids) and had the convenience of a full kitchen, towels, washer/dryer, tv. We had a great time, would recommend it to anyone.
Ideal and relaxing
The four of us stayed for the weekend to attend a wedding. The location was perfect and very close to town. The cabin included everything you’d probably need, even coffee! Although we had a short stay, it was very relaxing. The hosts are very pleasant too! Would definitely return 😊
Armstrong Woods is a must see. 5 miles from cabin is a beautiful hike in an Old Growth Redwood grove. Sturgeon's Mill is a working museum with a 105 year old steam powered saw mill. Open select dates April through October.
Fort Ross, a 45 minute drive up the coast, was the southernmost settlement of 18th century Russian fur trappers.
