First PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAP. They have us located the wrong place so far. We are located on the triangle intersection at the top of the map they show.

if this property is booked please check our casita listing #16035 on the same property! Thanks!

NOTE: dog policy at end :D

This charming rental is cradled at the foot of Taos mountain between Taos and Ski Valley on the Valdez Rim Road. MyHouse is quiet, private, and a truly special experience. This authentic restored 1000 square foot adobe is a local landmark, with a spectacular 360 degree view over the mesa and back towards ski valley. A beautiful 15-minute drive up to the ski lift, 5 minutes to the charming town of Arroyo Seco with great restaurants and shops, and a beautiful 20-minute drive back to town!

This artist's home is very colorful with lots of original art. It features an old kiva fireplace as well as a woodstove (if you know how to use it) and we also have radiant heat, skylights, saltillo tile floors, a sensational bathroom and a high old viga beam ceiling in the living room. Sit on the large portal (porch) in the front to enjoy the cool breezes, or on the charming patio off the kitchen with it's firepit and special view out over the Valdez Valley.

The living room has a banco (a large window seat) with a wonderful view to the West and the sunset over the mesa. A handmade mullioned window adds special interest -- really comfortable furniture, lots of good books, a satellite TV with over 100 channels and wireless internet.

You'll sleep peacefully in the intimate, romantic, charming bedroom -- it still has an old hand-painted paned window typical of original Taos houses, little nicho with a special light, an old dental cabinet for some of your things, a large closet and a really comfortable queen-sized bed.

As you can see, our bathroom is very special too. We think you'll love it!

Our check-in time is 3:00 and check-out is 11:00 -- we know you'll hate to leave!

Pets: The house has a private entrance and huge, separate fenced yard -- we welcome one or two good dogs* (see note). Sorry, no cats though.

TO MAKE A RESERVATION: We have a 3-night minimum. We are not often home to answer the phone! Thanks.

*dogs must be housebroken, people! No peepads. No pooping in the house! I can't believe I had to say this.

About ann cole

I'm a sometime artist who drove up the canyon road past the hairpin turn, over the top to the view, and into the rest of my life.

ann cole purchased this cabin in 1999

Why ann cole chose New Mexico

The old adobes of Taos are very special. Handmade, each one unique, with soft welcomng curves. History, romance, an old neighborhood, and astoundiing views.

What makes this cabin unique

I fell in love with this place because I walked into the living room, saw the window my parents had in their house in 1929, and was home again! You'll feel at home as well.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for maintaining this comfortable, welcoming refuge. We have rested and enjoyed all of the week - even the smoke was a new experience for us. As to the cooler, the adobe stays wonderfully cool and we only operated it for a few hours all week. Coming, as we do, from an intensely humid environment, the air has been perfect, even on the warmest afternoons.

Peacefull and relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, and our two dogs, spent four days here. It was the perfect place to get away from it all, and relax. The view from the couch, looking out the large picture window, is incredible. We spent a great deal of time just looking out at the view while we sipped our coffee in the mornings and our wine in the evening. The dogs loved exploring the fully fenced yard, and we could relax and watch them from the rocking chairs on the porch. The kitchen is well equipped, and rest of the house is nicely furnished and very comfortable. This is a great place to unwind, enjoy nature and the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico. Ann, the owner, was very helpful throughout the process.

Lovely place off the beaten path

  • 4 of 5

We were initially a bit apprehensive upon our arrival, but once we settled in, we could see why there were so many great reviews. Dos Caminos is homey, clean, and relaxing. The linens were top notch and the bathroom is adorable. The bed was a bit hard for our liking, but that's just a personal preference. Sleeping with the windows open was lovely - there was a cool breeze each night that wafted across us as we slept. Extra touches like shampoo and lotion were much appreciated! The views out the big picture window were amazing and we watched as storms rolled across the mountains and canyon each afternoon. The location is remote, yet it's not far from Taos or the ski valley... and we loved visiting Arroyo Seco and Taos Cow (great ice cream)!

We didn't see much in the way of hiking opportunities anywhere close, although we saw people walking on the road (but it's very narrow & we didn't risk it), so relaxing on the porch was the way to go for us. The dogs enjoyed their bit of freedom in the fenced yard and loved lounging on the big window seat (when they could beat me to it!).

Thank you, Ann, for sharing your lovely home!

Our Second Visit

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Ann's wonderful home is less than a year! We stayed for 5 nights in September 2015 and could hardly wait to come back again. On this trip we stayed for 8 nights and still wished for more. Ann is a delightful hostess. She provides every amenity needed to make your stay enjoyable. He back garden was a delight of blooming tulips and daffodils for the plant lover. This was a wonderful time of the year to visit, with cool nights and sunny days. There was still snow in The Taos Ski Valley, just a short drive from this wonderful adobe home. Perfect location to enjoy all of the Taos area. Thank you Ann for another wonderful stay.

MY GOODNESS!!!

  • 5 of 5

I want to start by saying how happy i am that Ms. Ann has opened her home for rentals. i am blown away by this property! the location suited me and my "girls"(doxipoos). the views are spectacular. there is a picture window with a banco on which Ms. Ann has placed a mattress. i sat on the seat for hours watching the birds and the sunsets and rises. one night it stormed in the distance. i watched the lightening dance across the sky. the kitchen was very special. it made me want to cook, which i did! the whole house was special! there are two sinks in the kitchen one rustic facing the mountains (the one i used). the other is conventional. the cabinets are very unique. I WANT THIS HOUSE FOR MY OWN!!! lol.the bathroom was a custom design with built in shelf for the shower and sink. the shower entrance was low enough my pups decided they needed to check it out with me in it! the bed is nice and comfy with plenty of cover if you should get cold. that being said, it snowed the night before we HAD to leave. Ms. Ann sent me e-mails to be sure i was comfortable and to check on my satisfaction with her home. she has some wonderful paintings and i am sad that i am honest and did NOT take any.lol((i would never do that but her style is SO me). if you get a chance, please stay at her home. you will not be disappointed. the only fault that i could find was the steps within the house. if a person has a walker or limited mobility, it might be hard for them to maneuver to the bedroom. that being said, i would be perfectly happy in the den/living area. but that is just me.the rest of the home is easily acceptable. hiking is right out the door.
