Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths picturesque serene setting.

The Lake House

Nestled in its own world, the Lake House rests within Yamhill County's magnificent wine country. It is the perfect get-a-way retreat.

There are no words or pictures that can adequately describe the serene environment. With 3.5 acres of playing ground, a small lake, three large bedrooms, two full baths and two half baths, it can house up to three couples.

If you long for a bit of activity in between bouts of relaxation, the Lake House is located fifteen minutes from Carlton's wine tasting 'district' and fabulous eateries. The tasting rooms in Carlton provide an exceptional experience from those who prefer sweet whites to Oregon's sought after Pinot Noirs to the rich dark reds produced from the grapes of Southern Oregon. It's all there.

The house is fully furnished and includes a well equipped kitchen. All you need to do is the grocery shopping. Whether it's this weekend or any other vacation you are planning, I hope you consider The Lake House for its ideal location in Oregon's rural Yamhill County.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is truly a beautiful spot and a home that has been well-maintained. Our family enjoyed this place! As many other have noted, it is the perfect retreat after a big day of wine tasting. We would love to come back during summer to enjoy the outdoor patio. Thank you for the hospitality.

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was all that was advertised. We chose this location because it was central to wineries, hiking, and (with a bit of a drive) to the coast. It should be noted that the location is a bit secluded, which was also what we wanted. When we first arrived, we drove uphill until the road became a gravel one and then the entrance to the house was also gravel. We weren't sure we could do it at night but it was easy. The house was beautiful and well furnished. Plenty of amenities, including lots of towels (thanks!). I personally spent a lot of time in the mornings and evenings on the back porch where I was visited by deer and once a herd of female elk. (I will try to post photos). My only complaint about the pond was how active the male bullfrogs were (not really a complaint). We never used the front door key; it was more convenient to enter and exit through the garage using the key pad. There was also a new gas grille which I hoped I cleaned well after using. Again, all was perfect and no issues whatsoever.

Owner's Response: Mark I am so happy that you enjoyed your getaway at the Lake House. I have seen many elk tracks in the field and around the pond but have yet to see one. Yay! The place is very special and it sounds like it was a good fit for you. It is my favorite of the three Distinctive Destinations. I find it so peaceful...

A magical location !

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Lake House !!!

The location is very private and beautiful which led my wife to call it "Magical" !!

If you enjoy the "Road less Traveled" and yet within minutes of dozens of the best wineries and farm products in the Willamette Valley this is the place for you !!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Three couples all celebrating birthdays and anniversary's stayed here to explore the wineries and the coast of Oregon. The house was picturesque! Very clean and comfortable and the house was stocked with anything you can think of from paper products to toiletries. We were extremely close to wineries and the coast was about an hour and a half away. The owners were very accommodating when we had a problem with the garage keypad and they were willing to come out and fix it asap!

Stay at The Lake House July 11-15, 2016

  • 4 of 5

LOVED our stay at The Lake House in mid-July! Very charming house and we loved the remote location...and the deck near the lake. Will definitely recommend this property to our many friends who we direct to vacations in the Oregon wine country.

Only two concerns...one minor, and the other, not so minor.

The minor concern...it would be nice to have hooks on the back of all of the bedroom doors so guests might hang shower towels in their rooms. Can't speak to the other rooms, but the smallest bedroom did not have any towel hooks. When all of the shower towels are white, hanging all of the towels in the bathroom can be a bit confusing!

As for the other concern...we will certainly be back if we travel with one other couple...but not if we travel with two other couples. As with many VRBO houses, the bedrooms are not sized equally. In the case of the Lake House, the master bedroom was very large (and has a separate sitting room), the 2nd bedroom is medium sized, and the third bedroom is quite small...barely large enough for my wife and I and two suitcases. Given this disparity in room sizes, obviously some guests will feel slighted with their accommodations. There is nothing you can do about this now that the house has been built, but I point this out just to advise that this was a point of contention with our group, and may be with others as well. If we return with just one other couple, bedroom sizing won't be a problem as both the master bedroom and the 2nd bedroom are roomy and spacious. But a third couple would undoubtedly feel shortchanged.

Other than that, the house was marvelous...many thanks, Loni!
