Overpized place!! Two dogs running around Dogs pooped on the terrace and one pied IN the house. My husband slipped on it and my one year old was crawling on this floor!!! Very damp childrens' bedroom where the wallpaper was ripped off the wall because of the damp. When the kids woke up the sheets felt damp aswell. Dirty bathroom, kitchen not clean and top was broken. For this amount of money a night NEVER AGAIN!! We wanted to stay 5 nights for our honeymoon but left after 3. Repeatedly e-mailed house owner for a refund or at least discuss the matter but no response whatsoever.... bad bad bad should be removed from this website because all our experiences with home away were great...
I have read your complaint carefully and have taken notice to better improve our property on welcoming guests.
Charming house and garden in a good location
We had a very enjoyable week in your comfortable house. Thank you Gilda. I was a bit apprehensive at finding the house but the sat nav was successful. The numbers in the road are not sequential which is very confusing. The house is behind electronic gates and the car can be parked alongside the house. The owner Gilda and her maid, Maria (and two small dogs) live in the upper part of the house. Maria was particularly helpful on the first evening as she took us to a small supermarket in Estoril and back to the house.
The house is spacious with lots of available seating and comfortable beds. A lot of Gilda’s personal possessions are in the house plus antique furniture. There is a large quantity of books on geography and maps and golf but mostly in Portuguese. Also DVDs and numerous golf trophies. The television is massive. The kitchenette is compact and has the basics but it is not possible to use the hob at the same time as the oven. The gardens are lush with several seats and tables and the pool is a good size although still a bit chilly at the start of June although we did use it a couple of times. There was very little information about the house or the area and it would have helped if more had been provided.
Driving in this area was a bit stressful as the roads were busy and were not as well sign-posted as they could have been. Taxis are relatively cheap and we took a taxi to the station to get a train to Lisbon and on another day to get a bus to Sintra (which has very limited parking). Estoril didn’t seem to have much character apart from the beach and the casino (which we did not visit). The next town, Caiscais is much more interesting with beaches, many shops and restaurants. A highlight of the holiday was taking a RIB boat with Dolphin Explorers from Caiscais marina out into the Atlantic. There were no other boats to be seen and land was out of sight yet the skipper found a small group of dolphins which came up to the boat and made my daughter’s day. At 40 euros each it wasn’t a cheap trip but it was worth it.
We had to wait over an hour to be served at the Sixt car hire desk at Lisbon airport whereas there were no queues for the other companies at that time (Sunday pm).
We had a lovely stay here, thank you Gilda. The house and gardens were very nice and we made full use of the pool thanks to the good weather. The location is excellent, easy to explore Lisbon and the surrounding area but also quiet and a great place to relax. Thank you for your hospitality. - Erin
Lovely surroundings and very attentive service
We recently spent two nights at this property and had a wonderful time. The pool and surrounding garden (as seen in the photos) are charming and the outdoor barbeque and dining area are real plus. The living/dining room/kitchen area open to a private courtyard with views of the pool. Lovely traditional Portuguese decoration throughout and an extra large flat screen TV with large selection of channels as well as an entertainment system.
There is secure off-street parking and the neighborhood is very quiet. The property is ideal for families with children. The owner and staff are nearby to answer questions and provide assistance if needed. They were very helpful throughout our stay. Shopping is not far away and there are numerous restaurants nearby.
Hello Mr Douglas
Thank you for everything.
It was very nice to have you in my house.
Your family is very kind and really enjoyed your company.
Hope you come back.
Big flat & good location
The apartment is spacious and has 2 bedrooms for 4 people. Plenty of nice DVD movies with subtitles, too. The location is on a hill, 20 minutes walk from the train station and beach. We used Uber a lot and it works well in the area. We also rented bikes from Cascais and rode along the beach. The apartment is great but the other bedroom is in need of little renovation. It feels a bit damp. We did not have a big problem with that but you could move the mattresses to the master bedroom if needed. The garden is really nice. Remember to pack a sweater with you - it gets cold in the evenings and sometimes during a cloudy day.
Villa bourgeoise, à environ un kilomètre de la gare (pour aller visiter Lisbonne) et de la mer, une belle piscine, calme et tranquille. Une grande chambre, et une autre avec 2 petits lits. Accueil très sympathique de la propriétaire.
