Greetings! My name is Wendy and I had a dream to create a space where you could enjoy nature, dream and think. A place where healing occurs and kids run free to explore the world around them just like the good ol' days. Spent much of my career in the investment business in SF, grew up outside Chicago and I enjoy yoga, traveling and learning. I've travelled extensively worldwide and must say, Mt. Shasta ranks at the top of my list of places I could settle down and enjoy life.
Jairo purchased this House in 2006
Why Jairo chose Mount Shasta
Growing up in the Midwest, I missed the change of seasons and Mt. Shasta is glorious throughout the year. The people are so friendly and warm, the quaint mountain town is quite 'hip' and it is an easy, four hour drive from San Francisco. The area is ripe with outdoor activities all year long and it is not crowded like other California mountain towns!
What makes this House unique
The property was set up for small or large groups to enjoy. Sit and gaze at the mountain or enjoy the sounds of Wagon Creek flowing by while breathing the fresh air from the forest. Plenty to do and see right on the property. Swim in the pond, ride the zip line, hike the trail, have a ping-pong tournament, foosball or dance under the night sky. Read, meditate, play a game or catch up on some much needed rest. It's all here and available! We can also help with other outside services if needed. You name it, we'll try and help! I've had such wonderful feedback from all of our guest so far as to what a special place Bodhana is and how the pictures do not do it justice. Many have said it was their best vacation that they can remember. There is plenty of space on the property so you do not feel crowded and have room to roam. You can do as much or as little as you'd like. Town is a couple of miles away and has plenty of services, restaurants, stores if desired. If you are interested in unrehearsed living, come explore Bodhana!

This is just a wonderful place for a family to spend a vacation!! It has absolutely everything you could ever need, including the best view of Mt Shasta in the valley.
Beautiful property with an amazing view of Mt. Shasta. The owners are very responsive. Any questions I had were answered very quick and in incredible detail. We will come back. for a visit for sure.
Nice cabin and great location but pricey for an outdated cabin
We have mixed feelings about this cabin. There are definitely some pros but also quite a few disappointments.
Pros: Amazing location with majestic views of Mount Shasta and close to downtown Shasta while being located in a very private and large plot of land with a pond. Ideal for families with kids and pets, and we have no doubt a wonderful fun and inviting cabin to rent during the summer time. In the winter though, it is a different story!
Cons: Although it does specify that it accommodates 10 people, and it mentions 5 bedrooms, only 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are in the main house. The other rooms are in a different building. This is especially important during winter as guests would need to go outside to go to their bedrooms or the game rooms. Another disappointment was that despite the site showing a picture of a wood burning stove, the stove is unusable. Although the description of the property does not specify wood burning stove, we felt that the picture was misleading as we made the assumption that we would cozy by the fire at the end of a cold day. The central heating is weak and we felt that the house was always on the cool side (it's the first cabin that we've been cold in during the winter). We stayed there during the Holidays and paid $720/night, which to us was very pricey considering the cons mentioned above, not even taking in account that the house appliances are outdated. We are frequent visitors of Mount Shasta area, and we have rented multiple properties in the past winters and summers with no complaints. This is the first time we actually write an average review about a property we rented. I guess the high price definitely set up expectations that were not met.
It was a tough emotional weekend for us all. ButThe setting made all the difference
Beautiful beyond words. A few slight negatives; there were a few cobwebs in corners, laundry in both the washer and dryer that wasn’t done, we had difficulty using the stove. My sisters felt there was a slight air of neglect on the premises. It was all overcome by the view of the mountain, the trampoline and the pond.
We very much appreciate your feedback and I will address all your comments immediately!
We are glad Bodhana, and it’s magical beauty aided in your memorial, and we hope to welcome you back in the future!
Beautiful Shasta Retreat
This beautiful property, nestled on nearly 20 acres of pristine land facing Mount Shasta, is the perfect getaway for family and friends. We feel it's what vacations may have been like 100 years ago...down to the red barn. Our family of 4 arrived for a week long stay; we had 4 days just relaxing by the private pond (small lake) and stream and enjoying ourselves until additional family and friends arrived for the latter few nights. Everyone agreed that the property was just breathtaking and filled with endless opportunities for everyone to soak in: swimming, zip lining, paddle boarding, Pollywog catching, yoga, bocce ball, trampoline, foosball, ping pong, and more. There was plenty of space for everyone and activities for all ages. There is a lovely new yoga/mediation platform near the babbling stream, that we had not experienced before. Other nice amenities are wifi, a well-equipped kitchen and laundry on the premises. The property is minutes from town and a decent grocery store within 5 minutes; Ray's Food Place. This retreat is very well loved by it's owners, as it is maintained very well and thoughtfully appointed. We have stayed at this property 3 times and are planning another trip next year. This is a great venue for those looking to unplug from everyday life and to make some really unforgettable memories with family and friends.
We're on our drive home right now, and everyone in the car is sad! We hated leaving Bodhana! This was bar far one of the best getaways we could ask for. The kids had such a blast swimming, zip lining, exploring, and jumping on the trampoline. Our pup is exhausted and the adults had a nice relaxing time too :). Everything was perfect! Beds are comfy, the views are amazing, and there's an abundance of fun to be had by all! Thank you so much for sharing your slice of heaven with us!
Mt. Shasta is considered a "Sacred Mountain" by many groups, and the lore and history, including the Native American one, can be appreciated through local galleries, specialty shops, and annual events!
