Nancy Lake is a popular state recreation site -- nearby streams and lakes offer some of Alaska's finest Salmon, Trout, and Pike fishing. It is less than 15 minutes from Deshka Landing. The area includes an extensive (foot, canoe, snow machine) trail and waterway system of connected lakes and rivers. There are 100's of miles of trails, some of which connect to the International Iditarod trail (which lead to Nome on the Bering Strait.)

Nancy Lake is a large lake (five miles long), and is perfect for a full spectrum of watersports and winter sports. Hatcher Pass, also nearby, offers scenic vistas, excellent hiking and berry-picking opportunities in summer, and skiing and snowmobiling in winter.

Favorite activities as reported by previous guests:

ON THE PROPERTY -- swimming, boating, canoeing, waterskiing, hiking, fishing, sitting around the pit-fire to roast marshmallows, snow-machining, sledding, reading (great books available in our library), playing board games, cards, or the electronic game system, barbecuing delicious meals, watching movies (large selection in our video library) on the new flatscreen TV, and relaxing in comfortable chairs on the decks or dock as you enjoy the gorgeous views.

OFF THE PROPERTY (driving distance) -- fishing (world-class fishermen have been our guests!), river rafting, walking on a glacier, 4-wheeling, horse-back riding, mountain biking, visiting the musk-ox farm, dog-sled teams, goldmines, museums, Denali, Palmer, Wasilla, Hatcher's Pass, and Talkeetna. About Theresa Wolcott

Jim and Theresa, with their three kids, have had a little dry cabin on the lake for 17 years, where they have been blessed with many wonderful memories. When the villa property became available (next lot over) they bought it, fixed it up, and have had the pleasure of making it available to vacationers from all over the world. It has been a great experience working with all the fabulous people who have come to stay on the property. They sincerely hope you enjoy the villa as much as they do!

Why Theresa Wolcott chose Alaska

A great place to relax and play! It's 'eye-candy' everywhere you look...we love Nancy Lake!

What makes this chalet unique

I love to hear the loons in the early mornings as I drink my morning coffee. I always feel a sense of peace when I'm relaxing by the lake and never get tired of the feeling of 'wilderness' all around us.

Note: We have a very cute 'dry' (no plumbing) guest cabin (queen bed) available in case a larger group of six is interested in spreading out. It is available for an additional $50 per night.

Absolutely wonderful!

The villa was the perfect place for our post Christmas retreat. The location can't be beat. We enjoyed walking and skiing on the lake, and made good use of the well stocked kitchen. We would definitely stay here again!

Kids and Adults both loved this cozy villa (Winter stay)

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of five from Anchorage that just wanted to get away and relax for a weekend. We stayed in November when the lake was frozen over. This was the first time my kids had seen a frozen lake and they loved playing on the frozen ice. Next time we will remember to bring the ice skates and ice spikes for shoes.

The villa was very comfortable and stocked with everything I forgot. .. LOL.. The beds were clean and comfortable. Views from the cabin were amazing but I did not catch the Northern Lights on this trip, though apparently you can see them from the windows when they are out. Other guests commented on this in the book inside the cabin.

A few things to note... This cabin is not quite in a remote area, there are other cabins, houses around. Didn't bother me a bit, just something to note. The fire ring, firewood and access to the lake including the canoe's and lifejackets are down a quite steep hill. The kids and I managed just fine but I would think that it could be a consideration for some people.

We loved staying here and did not want to leave. The kids are talking about returning soon and we would love to stay here in the summer time as well.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have been happier with this property! The layout of the house was perfect for two couples. Lots of space and plenty of privacy. We loved sitting on the decks overlooking the lake to watch sunset in the evenings. Dock, fireplace and water toys were a super nice addition. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We loved this property and our time there. It has all the amenities we needed. We had spices for cooking/bbqing, and every appliance/pots and pans that made you feel at home.

Thanks for everything, we had a great stay at Nancy Lake Villa.
