HALE KAI LANI
'House of Heavenly Waters'
'A timeless place, a special house, the perfect setting'
Accommodations: One story house, Master Bedroom , 2 Additional Bedrooms, Den with daybed,& 2 Full Bathrooms
Within the combined magic of the Islands of Hawaii, the Pacific Ocean, and a very special house. On the southwest shores of Oahu, hidden in Ewa Beach is 'Hale Kai Lani'.
In a house with a history that dates back to the territorial days, it has literally preserved time within it’s floors and walls. As you look out the windows toward an ocean view, the distance sounds of the waves coming to shore hypnotizes you, gradually slowing down the world around you.
Inside 'Hale Kai Lani' the interior reflects a casual kama‘aina (local) image of 'Old Hawaii'. Hardwood floors accentuate the thoughtfully selected furnishings that enhance your vision. The open, airy layout of the house contributes to an endless feeling of room to unwind and relax. The living room contains a television with digital cable service, a DVD player and an AM/FM Stereo CD player.
Available throughout the house is digital phone service with unlimited long distance to US & Canada and Hi-Speed Cable internet access. The master bedroom suite contains a comfortable King size bed, and an additional Twin size. The room has an air conditioner available, but you just may want to open the windows and utilize the large ceiling fans available in every room. Just down the hall from the master bedroom are two more large comfortable bedrooms, with an available daybed in the den. The house features a large fully stocked kitchen, with an adjacent breakfast bar and dining area. The kitchen is immediately connected to a covered outdoor lanai that faces the back yard.
The outdoor area features a large front lawn, spacious enough for parking. The rear of the house is also fully enclosed with a privacy fence, outdoor tables and chairs, a gas Bar-B-Que grill, and the washer dryer on the side of the house.
Five minutes away from your location is a series of shopping centers featuring grocery stores, drug stores, Red Box, dry cleaning and laundry services, fast food and a multitude of local and ethnic restaurants for your dining pleasure. Also nearby are six golf courses, local parks, and even a historic train ride.
Just a convenient commute away are more attractions for your viewing, dining, and shopping pleasure. For instance, a multiplex movie theatre in nearby Kapolei, the Waikele Outlet Shopping Center, featuring brand name designer. The Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park is sure to be a big hit with the children. There is also the USS Missouri, the USS Arizona Memorial, historic Pearl Harbor and the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. The North Shore is approximately 30 minutes away from your location, with world famous surf beaches, the Macadamia Nut Farm, the Dole Plantation, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Wyland Art gallery, and several other unique shops and restaurants .
At “Hale Kai Lani” we want you to immediately feel at home,… almost as if you’d never left your own house. It has the feel of a summer beach house. Experience the local flavor of this Island life, as it is lived on a daily basis in a beach community.

(Thank you for celebrating with us)
First time in Oahu and rented this house based on the reviews. It was perfect for our family and had all the necessities available for a relaxing stay. It was also perfect for our two year old grandson who had the run of the place and we had no problem with security or safety. We had easy access to the beach and all the shopping needs were close at hand without the city centre crowds. I would highly recommend this location.
This 3 bedrooms house is perfect for the 8 of us, including a toddler and a baby. The house is very well equipped, including a baby pack-n-play and high chair when requested. It's conveniently located for easy access to the highway and ONE HOUSE from the beautiful sandy beach. My mom enjoyed breakfast and coffee out on the patio every morning while listening to the ocean waves. Kids enjoyed running around in the backyard and searching for seashells on the beach.
Diane, the property management, came by to check on us one night and even brought us a hula pie. Everyone seem so nice and generous in the area. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Oahu.
After tons or research we finally settled on staying at Ewa Beach. We don't regret it! The neighborhood was friendly. Almost every day all the neighbors would head to the beach at sunrise to watch the beautiful sunrise over Diamond Head! It was a perfect time of year for some great pictures! The house is pretty centrally located if you want to move around the island. I have a cousin on the North Shore and another cousin and an Aunt down in Hawaii Kai.
We were a little apprehensive about this trip. My wife and I, along with my cousin and his wife took our 80 year-old and 86 year-old moms over to Oahu to visit with their 90 year-old sister that lives there. then, mid-visit, another brother showed up with his wife for a few days!
The house handled sleeping 8 adults just fine, although I don't think they really offer it that way. We did OK though. The focal point was the shaded back porch, or Lanai. We spent hours and hours there enjoying the fragrance of the flowers and trees and, of course, a Mai Tai or two! Morning coffee, before the sunrise, was served there as well. There were only a few steps into the home so the moms did fine in that regard. One criteria was to have a step-in shower for our moms. They both are wobbly enough to not want to step into a tub.
The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is large enough for several cooks at one time. It was a bit of a squeeze but we could sit eight around the dining table at one time, too.
We had two rental cars. Plenty of parking in the front yard. My wife and I took our SCUBA gear. We went diving with a great dive guide... Tyler's Oahu SCUBA. We recommend him highly. Look him up. Very nice young man, with over 12,000 dives on Oahu.
Let's see... what else to share... this is an older, 1940's - 1950's home that was originally built for the enlisted men and officers stationed in the area. It has been added onto over the years. Don't expect a sterile sheetrock and carpet type of experience. It has toung and groove walls, hardwood floors and some tile. The home has a toumble-down charm that you will love! There is a practice firing range about a 1/2 mile away and for a few days it sounded like a Mexican Fiesta was going on! Not too loud, but interesting enough to walk down the street to see what was up. It's part of the Marine Corps training facilities. I found out from my cousin that my (deceased) uncle used to be in charge of it back in the '50's. What else...
The house was fantastic! Two adults and 4 kids from 17 to 8. The beach was very close and just located out the back gate and a short public path. At times you would hear someone walk by but they were always quiet and you would only hear footsteps. The neighbors in front were very friendly. We loved the use of the boogie boards and they were used at least twice a day. It was hard to get the 8, 10, and 12 year olds to leave and do anything else. FYI one of the great memories is the boys finding an inch long gecko in their room. After that they would search the yard for more for hours.
The kitchen was well stocked which was great when we forgot to buy butter. It was great to be able to wash clothes and towels while staying at home. You are near a military base which never bothered us with random gun practicing fire. I have stayed previously on different parts of the island and was pleasantly surprised the located worked well for our vacation. The only thing I missed was a neighborhood bar for adult time.
We arrived the day before a tropical storm and we were greeted with extra flashlights and candles along with fruit and chocolates. Before and after the storm arrived they made sure we were okay. We would definetly stay here again or use any of the other properties they menage due to how well they treated this property and us.
I would recommend this owner to everyone. The experience we had with them was amazing from start to finish. Everything was communicated promptly and efficiently. The house was cleaned without even a speck of sand on the floor. Every appliance, pot or pan you could want or need was provided, as well as, the beach chairs, surf boards, grill, towels etc. They would come and take the trash and the recycling out to the road on pick up days and bring the bins back in at night, so we never had to think of it. Half way through the week, they brought us a pie and the neighbors across the street brought us mangos from their mango tree. The location is the perfect distance from the busyness of Honolulu. You can easily get to all the sites you want to see on the island. We especially liked driving through the farms and plantations on the way to the North Shore. The beach was just a few steps away which was like a dream. The locals were so friendly. They made us feel not just like guests but family. The level of professionalism combined with the personal touches made us feel right at home. The best part of renting this home is the feeling of still being on vacation with a home to relax in. When we left, we ran a load of towels but didn't have to strip the beds or sweep the floors or any deep cleaning. I don't have one complaint or criticism. Thank you for the best vacation experience we've ever had.
We were a family of 7 different ages we stayed for 1 week. It is not on the beach but we could still hear the ocean and see it from our back porch. Which I enjoyed sitting outside even the young girls liked sitting out there just talking. We used the boogie boards and chairs that were provided. There is a cooler which really come in handy when we went to different places. We walked the neighborhood enjoyed seeing the different things that grow there. I will go back there again.
You will find Ewa Beach a great launching spot to go all over the island. As you head out of Ewa you may catch highways in all directions. Ewa Beach is a full service community with groceries, many different ethnic foods as well as national chains.
Koólina lagoons is just 25 minutes or so further west. This is favorite place to swim with total sand bottoms and calm waters. There is public beach access as well.
Costco and Walmart is just 15 to 20 minutes in nearby Kapolei.
When not in traffic the airport is about 20 minutes away. If you are catching a flight though give yourself plenty of time in case you do hit traffic.
The aloha Stadium swap meet is a good cultural experience and a great place to buy gift for you and you, your family and friends.
Pearl harbor is also very close by as well. We have the Waikele outlet malls just a few exits away. My family loves to get Malasadas at the Leonard's truck in Waikele shopping area.
Catch the H2 an easy way to the North Shore. Stop at the Dole Plantation. It is a nice place to pick up some local treats, see the trade of Pineapple farming, try the Dole Whip.
As you continue to the North Shore you will want to stop by historical Haleiwa town. If you did not get full of sweets at the Dole Plantation, you must stop by Matsumoto's Shaved ice in Haleiwa. My family loves to eat at Killer tacos but there are also many good restaurants to choose from if you are in the area around lunch or dinner.
For the adventurous, jump at your own risk off the rock at Waimea. This beach is seasonal for swimming. Many times there is a strong under tow and other times it is absolutely perfect.
Waimea Falls is a beautiful easy walk through a botanical Garden laden with many Hawaiian culture information. You may swim in the falls if the conditions are favorable. They can let you know when you enter the park.
Has you go around the island you will see beautiful scenery of mountains and ocean coming together.
China Mans hat is a fun stop to get pictures. The Kualoa Ranch is fun with different tours you can do. I did the movie tour with my daughter once. If you have a movie buff in the family you may want to stop there.
My visiting family did the tour at the Macadamia Nut Farm and said it was really worth is and a nice cultural experience.
Laie Point is a nice place to get some pictures. It is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Put is in your GPS you will find it.
One of my favorite beaches on the island is Lani Kai Beach. Another one you will have to put in your GPS. It is next to Kailua beach. You have to park in the neighborhood on the side of the road. Just pray for parking. We rented a paddle board at the nearby surf shop and put it on our car and brought it to Lani Kai. It was a fun experience for all who were willing to try and fun for those who got to watch as well.
You will want to take a loo at the Pali lookout. Hold onto your hat or leave it in the car. It is very windy but it is very nice birds eye view.
I do not suggest seeing the whole island in a day. Do it in parts and really enjoy it.
I have heard one of the best Luaus is in Sea LIfe Park. I do know that on the West side Paradise Cove and Germaine's Luau is near to the house. I suggest Paradise Cove because of Location and the before dinner activities.
Waikiki is great for High end shopping, Night life and fine dining. We recently went to the Top of Waikiki for dessert for my daughter's birthday and enjoyed the revolving restaurant. We have gone for a walk up Diamond Head and enjoyed the views. It is a nice walk with many stairs. You do have to be somewhat fit but not a star athlete. It is best to go early. Take water and sunscreen.
Evenings are fun in Waikiki for street entertainment. On Friday nights there have fireworks at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
There are so many things to see and do around the island. If you wish to have a relaxing day at the house you are less than a minute walk away. If you have jet lag and you are up early take a cup of coffee out and watch the sunrise over Diamond Head.
I have heard on a number of occasions from our guests over the years that it is Oahu's best kept secret. You will love the quiet uncrowded beaches and views of Daimond Head and sunsets in the evening. Many talk about how friendly the neighbors are.
I do hope you choose one of our homes.
