About Aimee Frantz
With 3 children and numerous sports activities we don't make it to Norris Lake as much as we would like, but it certainly makes us appreciate our time even more while there. The peaceful setting of the eastern side of Norris Lake makes for a more enjoyable, relaxing vacation for families of all ages.
Aimee Frantz purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Aimee Frantz chose Tazewell
This property is only steps from the water and your private dock connected by concrete stairs. The remote, rustic feel of this area, combined with the modern amenities the home provides will make you appreciate the unique setting & experience that awaits! Great for family gatherings
Large house with plenty of room for all. Kitchen is well furnished. View of the lake and hot tub were great. Make sure your check your list of what to bring because it is 30 minutes back to town.
We loved it!
The cabin was great and in a nice location, being parents of 3 small children the cabin had lots of games and toys to keep the children happy during our week stay. It also had a great view we will be booking and coming back again.
Family Thanksgiving Trip
Our family LOVED this home! Norris Lake has a beautiful view even with most of the leaves fallen off the trees. This cabin was perfect for our large Thanksgiving gathering. We were all very impressed with the kitchen supplies available. Next time we know NOT to pack all our cooking supplies because almost everything we needed was already provided.
The biggest issue we ran into was the heating and air. During the evening the top floor stayed hot while the ground and basement levels were ice cold even after following the instructions provided. Luckily the homeowners provides plenty of blankets so it worked out.
The neighborhood lost power Thanksgiving morning around 9 AM and their electric company was on IT. They had us up and running within about an hour. We were able to finish our Thanksgiving dinner right on time and the owner was still very responsive even on Thanksgiving.
There is very little internet and cell phone service but this is not a complaint. It made the kids and adults put away their phones. The home provided plenty of board, card and electronic games for the family to enjoy.
Our hope is to return when it warms up to take advantage of that beautiful lake.
Wonderful Family Getaway
This was the absolute perfect property for our family reunion. We had 8 adults, 6 teens who met for our parent's 50th anniversary. This was the best gift we could have given them. The drive from the Knoxville airport was easy and we found grocery stores along the way to stock up for the week. This is a very private, remote property. It's up in the mountains, and the roads leading here are winding and hilly. It's on a dead end cul-de-sac with only 2 other houses in sight. The area is very wooded and quiet.
The house itself is gorgeous and very clean. The decor is tasteful rustic log cabin theme. Quality furniture and not too much clutter. The beds are comfortable, plenty of linens, pillows, towels etc. They also provided beach towels for the hot tub. The 6 teenagers (cousins) loved the bunk room in the basement (2 bunk beds with full size bed on bottom).
There is abundant seating for meals, as well as outside on the deck and patio areas. The kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of dishes, cooking utensils, pots & pans. We cooked every meal from scratch for 5 days. The only thing someone might need is an actual coffee pot (there is only a Kureg & we're not into that), but there was a party-size percolater in one of the cabinets which worked fine for our large group of coffee drinkers.
The lake was absolutely beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. 100+ steps from house to dock, but we didn't mind the exercise. We enjoyed exploring in the canoe and paddle boards. (Unfortunately one of the paddle board paddles was missing so we had to use the canoe paddle & kneel to reach the water). Bring your life jackets. We also enjoyed the lakeside fire pit (bring firewood). We roasted marshmallows and enjoyed the abundance of stars, peace and quiet.
Also enjoyed by the teenagers in our group was the foosball and board games.
A couple of things to note: a cell signal is non-existent in this area. There is WiFi at the house but I had trouble sending out work emails with large attachments. We did have 14 people with cell phones all connected, and most of us were able to send iMessages and do social media, it was just slow.
The only thing we had issues with is the gas grill. It wouldn't get hot enough to cook, but I'm sure the owners have addressed that.
We ALL agreed that we would definitely come back to this property. It was enjoyed by all ages in our group. The teens even said they would prefer coming back here over going to a Florida beach house.
WOW! GREAT PLACE
We booked this last minutes, since Florence changed our plans to stay in NC. SO glad we were able to find this amazing place. Best stocked rental I have ever used, towels, utensils, supplies, all included. Loved the location on the lake, great water for wakeboarding, awesome deck, several spaces for people to hang out. Private (community) boat ramp to load in and out was a plus. House was in great shape, and hot tub worked great. Can't say enough. Owners were responsive and informative. Everything was better than expected.
Awesome location with great scenery
Very relaxing family stay with a lifetime of memories. The cabin is so homey and has everything you need. Don’t wait to go!
Property is 1.5 hours from world famous Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge tourist destinations. In addition, to all the activities located in Knoxville, Nascar fans have enjoyed this area which is 1.5 hours from Bristol Motor Speedway.
