About Laura Rice
My husband, Marcus and I are a lot! I'm a retired healthcare consultant and my husband is a practicing family practice physician. We are avid outdoor enthusiasts. We love to rock and ice climb, camp, ski, and raft rivers. We love scuba diving and have had the pleasure to visiting beautiful places in the Caribbean, Central America, and Hawaii to mention a few. Even great diving here in NM! We recently discovered Santa Rosa, a quick 90 minute drive from ABQ to dive in beautiful, natural, clear lakes! Who knew? We just built and moved into our dream home and are loving the night star gazing and watching the beautiful sunsets that you get here in ABQ. We are fun people who love to eat! ABQ offers plenty of fabulous restaurants. We love music, movies, musicals and plays at Popejoy (a quick walk from Princeton House), growers markets (one every day in ABQ), flea markets, shopping and as you can see from our photo attending the annual Albuquerque "Dinner en Blanc". We are members of and regularly use our museums (free music), our zoo, aquarium and botanical gardens. They really are some on the best you will find. We love how close Santa Fe is--take the train (the station is only 2 miles from here), it is so fun to "ride the roadrunner". We love to entertain and to meet new people! This is what we are most looking forward to being Airbnb Hosts. We hope to meet you soon!
Why Laura Rice chose University Heights
The Annex @ Route 66 straddles the vibrant neighborhoods of UNM and Nob Hill areas of Albuquerque. UNM is one block away on Central Ave., (Historic Route 66). Nob Hill is one block away in the other direction. Popejoy Hall is only 3 blocks away and getting anywhere is easy by foot. Bike rentals are nearby. Close to several supermarkets, Whole Foods, Traders Joe's and Smiths are a short drive away and the local organic food co-op is within walking distance. You will see old folks, students, and other residents. You will also meet our local "couple", Harold and Maude, our in-love roadrunners! They look fierce but are very friendly.
What makes this Apartment unique
So convenient to all of the hippest places in ABQ as it is within walking distance to everywhere, UNM, CNM, Nob Hill and the best part of Historic Route 66. No need for a car, but if you want to go further into ABQ there is UBER or LYFT and of course public transit is only steps away on Central Ave.

New Mexico trip
It was very comfortable. It meet our needs. The area around was very unique and friendly.
Small but comfortable and well-located
Cute little place within walking distance to eats and the university. Perhaps main items to be aware of: Bathroom is tiny (and during our visit, shower handle was loose, making it v hard to control water temps--scalding hazard. However, manager/owner had plumber scheduled and am confident that already has been addressed.); laundry facilities are in adjacent area, and per instruction book, shared with other tenants who have priority use. We did not use said facilities, since got back late and didn't want to disturb anyone. On the plus side, loved the french press coffee maker and the Pinon coffee (plus easy french press instructions on fridge for those who need). Kitchen seemed well-stocked, tho we didn't do any cooking to speak of. New windows pretty much all opened easily for fresh air at night. And there is a small, off-street parking spot that works great if you have a compact car. Appeared to be adequate on-street parking right out front otherwise. Neighborhood was quiet during our late-April stay.
Thanks Darcy. Yep, the shower handle got fixed! Thanks for letting me know it was loose and sorry for any inconvenience it caused you. Hope you come again.
Comfortable with character
The place was very nice! Clean, user friendly. I met the owner and she was a wonderful lady! Anything I had questions about she responded right away.
