3 story, 4 BR / 2.5 BA Handsome and Roomy Historic Manor.
Come experience true southern comfort. Bring a smile and a suitcase...that's all you need.
Luxury and comfort blend perfectly when you stay in the Taylor Manor. Located in Savannah's coveted and prestigious downtown historic district, the Manor was originally built in 1870 and lovingly restored in 2001 by the current owners.
The spacious kitchen is well stocked with all you need should you wish to cook or bake during your stay. Tall ceilings are in every room and plantation blinds spill sunshine from the 5ft tall windows framing the Living Room. Fireplaces (decorative) grace the downstairs Living and Dining Rooms and you'll sink into soft leather or stylish wood furnishings as you enjoy the stylish decor and open floorpan. Wide archways connect the first floor Living, Dining Rooms, Hall/Foyer and Kitchen. Convenient passthroughs add to the open feel and lend themselves to continuing conversations as you move from room to room. The second floor boasts three Queen bedrooms. The Master bedroom features a Queen Bed, balcony, attached bath and large walk-in closet. French doors connect the front two bedrooms each of which has a Queen Bed. Separate entrances off the hall allow for separate bedroom privacy should you not desire to connect the rooms. Up the stairs to the 3rd floor is the Attic Bedroom with its Queen bed and two twin Daybeds with trundles. All bedrooms have a distinctively themed decor. And each has a seriously comfortable (will want to take it home with you) mattress! Every mattress is encased for those with allergens. The owner is not a fan of tiptoeing around sofa sleepers or futons so none will be found in the Manor and every bed...is in a bedroom.
If you decide to stay indoors, you'll find wireless Internet throughout the Manor, Board Games, Nintendo and Cable TV as well as books and a VHS/DVD collection to enjoy. Want to be outside but not exploring, a baseball diamond and playground as well as a dog park are across the street at Beasely park, grab the tennis racquets from the Living Room and head to the courts at Forsythe Park a few blocks away, curl up in the hammock chair on the Veranda and chat over coffee, or read a favorite book at the umbrella table on the lower patio and watch squirrels scamper along the pecan tree shading the rear driveway. Inside or outside you'll love the Manor for comfort. It also has Central AC & Heat plus ceiling fans in every room. A convenient half bath is on the first floor with 2 full tub/shower combos on the second floor. A charcoal grill is in the courtyard. Driveway parking for 2 cars is in the rear. Street parking is also available in front of the Manor.
Walk to everything as a car may be nice if out late at night but totally not necessary. Everything to see downtown surrounds you and you can walk to it all. Meander down River Street, Shop Broughton St, Get pics at the fountain at Forsythe Park, Browse the City Market galleries and stores. Restaurants, cafes and pubs abound. The famous Savannah Squares surround you. Step outside and you step into Savannah. Trolleys and Carriage Tours will pick your group up at the door- just make your reservations in advance and tell them you are staying at Taylor Manor!
The Manor is not for groups that don't want an owner nearby as this owner lives next door. So you'll find the home well-maintained with problems promptly addressed. No cobwebs like other vacation rentals with absentee landlords.
Located in the southeast quadrant of the downtown district, East Taylor Street is a quiet one lined with gas lights and brick sidewalks. A large magnolia tree shades the front porch and a church is across the street. Shops and bars and Squares are a block or two away. The grocery store is an 8 min walk. Watch a wedding in Whitfield Square a block away. The river is 10 blocks north. Forsyth park is 5 blocks south. So bring your suitcase...and a smile as you enjoy southern hospitality living in Taylor Manor.

My husband, myself & our two kids (along with two cats, two ferrets & a dog :) purchased, lived in & lovingly restored the Manor back in 2001. As a licensed, general contractor, Mike made restoring the home a family project that he headed up. Mikes folks joined in on the restoration. The original intent was never for the Manor to be a rental. Hence, floorplans, choice of appliances, placing outlets everywhere, & putting in roomy closets were the 'convenient touches' which made our historic 1870 home meet the needs of our 21st century family. For years, Mike & I laughed, worked and homeschooled our girls while living in the Manor. Years later, Mike and I made the decision to turn our lovely historic home... into a vacation home rental. So in 2007, we again moved our little family of four, (different) cat, (same) dog but sans ferrets in order to let others enjoy our former home. Fast forward to present day... Our girls are college graduates! One from SCAD. One from AASU. I now share the inside information on the best to do and see in Savannah (gleaned from actually living downtown myself for the past 14 years) with my guests. Because, no matter what the ages in your group...it's been an age of one of my family members either now or in the past! I know what and where we go...have gone....and/or wish to go! Living in the South has been great. Mike grew up Yankee. I was a California girl. Our girls were initially Carolina Cuties. But since 2000 they have proudly worn the title of georgia peaches! We love the South, the Lord, and Savannah. No other city is as beautiful. Our wish is to welcome you as we were welcomed....with warmth and hospitality
Suzanne purchased this Townhome in 2001
Why Suzanne chose Beach Institute
We moved to Savannah from North Carolina when my husbands' job had him travel there. The landmark historic district is breathtaking and so walk-able! Everything I could want is walking distance. And when you walk, it's through beautiful, shady squares with outdoor cafes, moss-draped spanish oaks, carriages going by, cobblestone streets, & all these gorgeous historic houses. I loved it. Initially, when we first arrived in Savannah, we had moved to a 'cookie-cutter' subdivision within the city. While nice...that was not where I wanted to live. I had fallen in love with the 'real' Savannah...the original Savannah. That... is the 'landmark' historic district. (Note to the wise...the original GA colony borders constitutes the Landmark Historic District' . It stretches 1 mile x 1 mile from the River to Gwinett St (which marks the halfway point of Forsyth Park) & from MLK to Broad Street. Pass those street borders and you'll find things are not as easliy walkable as they should be. It's going to be a bit more like a hike. And some areas close to you are.... hmmm...sketchy. So be aware and be careful where you book). So...being in love with the Landmark historic district mean't buying a home there. And now we get to share it with you!
What makes this Townhome unique
Walking to everything! Antique Stores, Boutiques, funky shops and clothing stores will beat the malls everytime:). Plus, major chains and high end retailers are throughout the historic district as well. I love the quaint, outdoor cafes and the stylish restaurants- and strolling home under moss-draped oaks through the famous Savannah Squares. It's great taking the dog with us when we'd go for coffee in the morning. The friendliness of the people. The cathedral which is breathtaking. In fact, all the churches are incredible...so historic and beautifully built. The trees....I can just go and drive, bike, or walk, and stare at all the moss laden trees and the flowers in bloom and just feel the relaxation start seeping into my bones. The Savannah Theatre has a live variety show that is equal or excells those you'll find in Vegas, Branson, or even New York. You simply can't ask for a better place to live..festivals, street fairs, fireworks all summer long. Love it. Plus...the cuisine alone takes months to try to actually taste and try it all!

Charming Home in a Charming City
We recently stayed at Taylor Manor for a bachelorette weekend as a group of 11 women ranging from their mid 20's to early 30's. The house and property were lovely and we couldn't have been happier! The large kitchen, dining room, and living room were perfect for accommodating so many people and we enjoyed being able to sit out in the courtyard with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The sleeping rooms worked well for our group. The second floor had one bedroom that was a true master with an en suite bathroom. The other two bedrooms had their own doors to the hallway but were also connected via curtained french doors which could be closed for privacy if needed but would be a good option if you had kids you wanted to keep an eye on. In the attic we utilized the queen bed, 2 twin beds, and a trundle that we paid extra for. It was one, big open room that felt like you were having a sleepover but that was exactly what we were looking for in this girls weekend. All of the beds were super comfortable and the linens were clean and in beautiful shape. Suzanne was a fabulous host and responded promptly to all of our questions, plus she provided some great recommendations. She lives next door and is easily accessible for any issues that may arise. There is an easy to use lock box to get in and out of the house which made it simple so that between the 11 of us who were coming and going we didn't have to constantly figure out who had the keys. There's a grocery store (with a Starbucks) about a half a mile away (7-10 min walk) and the main drag is about a 15 min walk but through beautiful squares so you won't mind the stroll. Overall, the house was adorable, very clean, and in great condition and we would definitely stay here again for another trip to Savannah!
The house was well maintained and a perfect location to see all the sites
Greatest St. Pats Day ever...close to all activities and parade
Wonderful! My family and I enjoyed it a lot!
My family had a wonderful 3- day getaway in Savannah after Christmas to celebrate the holidays together. The house was fabulous - old, historic and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds and rooms were extremely comfortable for all of us. And the owner was very responsive to our needs - before, during and after our stay. I would highly recommend the house!! We had a great time!
Property was beautiful and location was PERFECT! We had a group of 5 gals and we had plenty of room. For those not familiar with row houses - just a heads up that all bedrooms involve stairs and the attic bedroom has two flights of stairs and a lower/gabled ceiling. This wasn't an issue for most of us but we did have an older person with mobility issues that found this a bit challenging. Pretty much everything in the historic district is less than a mile away - which was walking distance for almost all of us. Owner provided a ton of recommendations and has this really neat big framed map that shows where the property is and restaurants, attractions, drug stores, etc. We totally relied on that map and appreciated the extra thought that went into it and lots of other things around the property. Loved it!
Great house & location for our Big Chill Savannah
Beautiful home - well maintained and very clean. 1st floor has parlor, dining room, and well-stocked kitchen. 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 4th one in the attic. We had 4 couples for a long weekend and there was plenty of room for us. Great backyard patio. Good location - we easily walked to many restaurants and sightseeing locations throughout the city. Good parking on the street. The owner lives next door and offered many good suggestions for restaurants and things to do when we met her (in addition to clear written instructions about the house and places of interest).
As the saying goes...location, location, location :). Which is why I adore living next door. It's rare to live somewhere year round where you really can simply walk to everything you need like they do in Europe. Hoping it keeps the weight off! The fact parking is so available does mean you use your car at times too though even though it may be just a 5 min drive to get "that little bit closer" which sometimes is needed for my older groups looking to go to the farther parts of the downtown area. But it's a 30 min walk max to really get to anything. So glad you found everything was what you'd hoped and would love to have you again. Great guests like your group are what makes renting out my "home" refreshing and rewarding.
Tours of every sort can be found in the Historic District. Trolleys & Carriages will pickup /dropoff guests at doorstep of Estate. Can Walk to everything downtown. For kids: water geysers Forts, festivals, museums, lighthouse, Railroad Train/museum & alligator refuge. Basketball Cts in Crawford Square & Forsyth Park. Savannah Squares with Oaks dripping spanish moss, cobblestone streets and brick paths are in every direction. The Winery is 3 blks, Grocery Store is 5 blks. Live Theater in Historic Savannah Theater is a 10 min walk. Basically...everything in the Historic Downtown is only a 30 min walk from the Estate's front door. Museums, Shops, Antique Stores, Restaurants and Cafes surround you as do the famous live oak lined Savannah Squares! A quiet and friendly neighborhood. Close but not too close to the racous and crazy nightlife areas so they're walkable but not outside your windows at night. Waken to birds chirping and squirrels scampering :). MM Beasely Park across street on Broad has fenced dogrun, baseball field, playground & jogging path. Join joggers, shop the farmers market every Sat, picnic, or join in one of the multiple festivals at Forsyth Park. Grab morning Coffee at Clarys down the street, tour Massie School Museum or another local museum, shop till you drop, grab lunch at Firefly, Gryphon or any one of the numerous cafes abounding nearby! Check out City Market, Broughton Street Shops and the Design District Boutiques on East Taylor. Enjoy Southern Cuisine at its finest at Mrs Wilkes, The Ol Pink House or try the edgy sophistication at Jazz'd for tapas. Hop on/off the local trolley tours as you enjoy an afternoon on River Street. Then stroll back 'home' or have a bicycle cab (eg: pedicab) drive and relax in the shady courtyards of the Estate or take a dip in the Hot tub. Then...off to the nightlife at the Distillery on W. Liberty, take in a live show at Savannah Theater, tour the bars and nightlife throughout downtown, take a Riverboat Dinner Cruise....or, have a quieter and less crazy night and enjoy fine dining and grab an ice cream at Leopolds. You'll love the stroll back to the quiet friendliness of the Estate's neighborhood where you'll enjoy sweet slumber on wonderfully comfy beds amid an ambience of luxury!
