The second floor is fronted with a wide balcony with a great view of the ocean - the perfect place to start your day with breakfast. Pelican Hill is just off Matanzas Avenue - a public access ramp - which provides driving, bike riding, or walking access to beautiful St Augustine Beach. The beach is a 2 minute stroll away.

To watch the sunsets, the house has a two-story deck on the back accessed from the master bedroom on the 2nd floor. The 2nd level of the deck is at the roof-line which is actually higher than the treeline so you can see forever.

About Bill Lipner

My wife and I reside in Asheville N.C. but I was raised in Tallahassee, Florida and have always enjoyed my visits to the St. Augustine area. I introduced my wife to St Augustine some 20 years ago - and she was hooked! We jumped at the opportunity to own a house here and visit often.

Bill Lipner purchased this house in 2002

Why Bill Lipner chose Florida North East

The best part of St Augustine is its sense of history. That means no condominum towers, no obtrusive development near the historic district, and residents who really care about preserving a certain slower, quieter way of life.

What makes this house unique

The View. As soon as I walk into the living room and see the ocean stretching to the horizon, the tension, worries, and rush-rush feeling .... just melt away. The proximity to the beach: it takes about 3 minutes to walk down the driveway and to the beach - which means I still have plenty of morning coffee for my stroll along the shore.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great place! Quiet, comfortable, right next to the beach. Wonderful views... highly recommend.

fantastic Saint Augustine Beach getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a very fun and relaxing long weekend at the Pelican Hill beach house for my birthday in April.

Communication between Bill and I was perfect. He is very quick to respond via text or email, and upon arrival he shot me a text to make sure we had found everything OK and were settled. He was readily available during our entire stay.

The location of the house is absolutely perfect. We wanted to check out historic Saint Augustine, but we also wanted a relaxing beach experience and we found that and more at Bills beach house. We had a car that we used for exploring during the day, and in the evenings we took an uber into town, which was maybe 15 minutes away. Not bad at all. The home is just one block away from the beach! We walked down there and sat in the super soft sand and watched the waves. One afternoon there was a small wedding taking place. Bill has bikes available for you to use if you like.

I loved the set up of the house, and the decor. The house was pretty immaculate as well.

Its two stories, with two bedrooms and a full bathroom downstairs. I'm a light sleeper and my husband snores, so some nights he slept downstairs. That bedroom was nice and dark, great for snoozing. The kitchen is so cute and we made breakfast and sat at the lovely dining room table looking out at the blue skies, watching the sun rise.. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, including spices ect. Just hit up publix right down the way and you'll be set. I loved how open the top floor is, with doors opening up to a very large deck, perfect for watching the stars. The upstairs has wonderful natural light coming in. We watched netflix with the roku stick and rented a dvd from the redbox nearby. The master bedroom is very roomy and comfortable, and the master bath is HUGE, with a very large tub as well. I enjoyed a nice bath, I never get to do that at home! I liked going up to the roof top deck to watch the sun set. With this house, you can watch the sun rise, AND the sunset. That is pretty cool.

I encourage anyone considering staying here to do so. My husband and I are looking forward to many return visits.

Lots of great restaurants in the area as well as fun place to explore. Thanks Bill!

Wonderful beach house, great location, best beach in St Augustine.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a terrific stay at Pelican Hill. This most pleasant and comfortable beach house is very clean, well furnished, thoroughly equipped, and boasts eclectic decor. Located just one block from the most beautiful beach in the area...very wide with fine sand, never crowded...perfect for long walks and biking. Close to variety of excellent dining options and all the attractions of the old city of St Augustine. Bill(owner) was readily available to answer all questions. We look forward to returning in the future.

Property was beautiful and well maintained.

  • 5 of 5

Overall the stay was excellent and Bill was available to answer questions. What might have helped my wife and me was in your introduction to the property to actually spell out that bed linens were provided. When we arrived at the house, the hamper was full and we weren't sure if those linens were dirty or to be used---we didn't use them and left them as we found them.

The appliances were very clean and I imagine the previous occupants left condiments and spices and some other things which was very nice since we arrived later in the day.

As a suggestion, the lower bedrooms do not have television sets. Since I unfortunately snore (very badly I am told) my wife usually sleeps in another bed in another room--as far away as possible. I would think others also would benefit by having a television set in at least on of those rooms.

The area is beautiful and the amenities at the house ( bikes, water toys, grill etc.) added to the overall positive effect. It was a great 4 days!!!!

Thank you for asking for my comments and thank you for being such a gracious host.
