About Linda Pleasants

Escaping the hustle and bustle of busy city life, relaxing, lowering stress levels and recharging is the kind 'stuff' that draws people to this area. You don't just happen upon a special place like this, you seek it out and when you finally find it, you just know it, and it's hard to leave. For many people, this becomes an annual family/group event that everyone looks forward to. Clean air and rivers to play in set the stage for some of the greatest and most precious childhood/family memories. You can see this evidenced in the eyes of people you find along our road having just come from a good hike, on the faces of kids all ages proudly displaying a stringer full of fish, and in the smiles of families who just stopped off to teach their children how to hunt 'craw-dads' and salamanders or skip rocks in the river.

Linda Pleasants purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Linda Pleasants chose Lake Chatuge

Tate City and the Upper Tallulah River are beyond compare! This is the place locals bring their guests when they come to visit! The cool, clear river, Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron lining its edges, gravel road, USFS Campgrounds, abundant hiking trails, waterfalls and wildlife make this cabin such an exciting destination.

What makes this cabin unique

Seculsion and Privacy. No paved roads or sounds of busy traffic off in the distance---peace. No light pollution so the stars shine vibrantly. No cell phone service or interruptions while you are relaxing and getting reaquainted with friends and family---however, there is high speed wireless internet. Four plus bedrooms that allow everyone to have your own space. Don't forget the HOT TUB! We will be glad to point you in the right direction to find activities that suit your group's interests, needs and level of ability.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the wonderful week in the cabin it was beautiful. We loved everything from the senic drive up to comfortable, welcoming cabin at the end of the road. We had a great time hiking the various trails, falls, swimming hole, Deep Gap and the Tallulah Gorge. We enjoyed the outdoor fire place, the hot tub, the porch...we sat around the kerosene lamp telling ghost stories. It was a great time to have family meals and being unplugged from our cell phones. Thank God for the internet though! We had a great Spring Break.

Peaceful Surroundings, Nice Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent time at this home in the woods and would recommend it for families with children who want to get away from it all. This place is very secluded and even though there are neighbors nearby, you are one of very few homes in the surrounding area.

The drive up to the home was part of the adventure, as you must drive for about 20 minutes on windy gravel roads up, up, up to the peace and serenity of the mountains. The house is well appointed with just about everything you may need. Comfy beds, two enormous dining areas and a lot of space to spread out and relax. The home does not have central A/C so keep this in mind for visits during the summer.

Also, remember to bring all your groceries, beverages and other necessities. There is no such thing as "run/drive to the store" once you are at the home.

We hiked to a pretty waterfall, enjoyed the hot tub, admired the beautiful trees and used the outdoor fireplace for hours and hours.

Already planning a trip back to this special home where all of "city life" fades away while listening to the running river, right outside your door.

Thanks to the owners for making this available to us!

Owner's Response: Dear Jason, We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us at Tallulah Headwaters Cabin. Peace, seclusion and enjoying nature are what it is all about when you drive up this beautiful, scenic road - you definitely need to come prepared with groceries but we believe it's worth it! Thank you for taking the time to write your review - we appreciate you choosing us for your vacation as we know you have many choices these days. Hope to see you again! Kind regards, Linda

Amazing Seclusion

  • 5 of 5

From the cleanliness of the cabin when we arrived, to the easy accessibility of the creek and hiking trails, we were really pleased with the rental. It's super isolated - we drove in and didn't drive back out for a whole week - which was exactly what we wanted. Thanks so much for hosting us!

Family Time while being disconnected: priceless

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was perfect! We had 5 adults and 4 teens and no cell phone service which I thought would be tough but turns out it was just what we needed. We went on daily hikes, checked out Clayton, roasted marshmellows and hung out in the hot tub. We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and had everything we needed in the kitchen for a full holiday meal, it was awesome. Would highly recommend this place if you just want to unplug and get away.

Thank you again for the platters and serving dishes as it made our meal just perfect!

Great cabin weekend

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay this past weekend. The house was equiped with everything we needed, all the amenities of home but in the woods. Linda was very responsive with directions and answers to my questions. I even was able to being my small dog along for the trip. Benton Falls was right up the road so we walked from the house. Thanks for making this weekend easy and fun!
