The cottage was neat and had all of the conveniences for a comfortable stay. Great to have the Park so close by for walking or biking. We also enjoyed being away from the congestion of Bar Harbor. The Antique auto museum at Seal Cove in Southwest Harbor was fun, Thuya Garden and Little Long Pond are just around the corner from the cottage. Our dogs loved the hike around Little Long Pond (dog friendly to the max).
Perfect location for an Acadia adventure!
We had a marvelous time staying at this cottage in Seal Harbor - the location is perfect for exploring Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, and is also within walking distance of other features (small beach, restaurant, coffee shop, Jordan Pond House, bus stop for the free park shuttle). The cottage was tidy and had all of the kitchen items we needed, as we cooked dinner ourselves most nights. Internet connection speed was also good - which came in handy, because our phones were outside of T-Mobile's coverage everywhere except apparently at the top of some of the mountains. Wi-Fi calling worked great in the cottage and there's a landline in the cottage for guest use. The hosts are exceptionally nice, easy-going, and very knowledgeable about the area. They are right next door, so it's easy to communicate with them if you need to, but they also gave us our privacy. I highly recommend reading through their binder of information about the cottage, as it highlights a lot of good trails, restaurants, and activities in the area. I noticed an older review mentioned that the payment was not handled online, but I managed everything through the VRBO website, no hassle. Overall, our stay was 5/5 stars - perfect location for hiking, charming and quiet setting, and compared to the other listings I looked at booking, this was the best value. I just wish my vacation wasn't already over!
Thank you for the kind comments. We love Seal Harbor and are gratified when others also appreciate the little town and all Acadia has to offer. Hope you can return one day.
tidy cottage, excellent hosts, beautiful location
This tidy little house is a bargain and a pleasure. The Kleinmans are excellent hosts and great neighbors. As someone mentioned, the stairs are pretty steep (60 degrees, like a sailboat) and require a little getting used to, but it's worth it. The kitchen is nice (full sized appliances, including dishwasher) and the terrace and patio are beautiful. This is a pricey neighborhood and the house represents a significant bargain. Seal Harbor is a quiet gem, close to the park and a reasonable trip (20 minutes) to the much busier Bar Harbor. I recommend this cottage wholeheartedly for a couple or a small family. Bedrooms are close together and intimate.
There are hotels a few miles away which might be less expensive and if you like hotels you may wish to investigate. But in Seal Harbor, this is probably the best deal going, especially if you want a house with a kitchen and privacy.
This little cottage is a great bet at a great price in a perfect setting.
Charming and Cozy Cottage in the Heart of Acadia
Wonderful week in Seal Harbor in this clean, quiet and cozy cottage. The glories of the park are practically on your doorstep. The beach and town are a short walk away. The owners are also welcoming, nearby and helpful. The kitchen and gas grill worked great, and they even let us bring our dog! A heads-up that the stairs to the bedrooms are steep so probably not ideal for the elderly, infirm or toddlers.
What a great little cottage in a quiet spot. We had a wonderful week. What a great hosts!
Joan and Allen were wonderful hosts. We had a lovely time. Seal Harbor is great; very quiet and relaxing. We explored parts of the island that we never have before because we were on the southside.
Very nice cabin, prime location
The owners were very nice and helpful, and there is even a detailed information binder there designed to help guests find their way around the island. The cabin was clean, well-stocked, and in good repair. The location is outstanding and is a short walk from the Seal Harbor beach, as well as a 30 minute walk to the Jordan Pond House and some excellent hikes.
The only thing that was a bit confusing was the payment process as Joan prefers to work offline for payment. But everything went smoothly regardless and it was a very positive experience.
