Why Aileen Ortega chose East

We love to come to the mountains because of what it has to offer for the whole family. We loved it so much that we bought our very first cabin or 2nd home and have enjoyed it since.

What makes this cabin unique

So close to everything, but yet private setting makes you enjoy it even more.

This is s small cute cabin with the basics. I found it to be an overall great value but tight for 7. I rented this cabin for a bachelorette party. Overall the place was clean but not white glove clean. In other words for the 85.00 cleaning fee it could have been cleaner. The ceiling fans were dirty and some of the linens smelled like dog. Overall it was fine. We had a great stay and would stay again. The reason for the 4 star was because the futon in the loft was so uncomfortable 2 of the girls slept on the floor, and the 2nd futon was in the basement which was not accessible from inside the cabin. In order to get in the basement room you had to go outside and descend a large flight of stairs to enter. The hot tub was nice and clean. We did have a bear encounter which was scary so be careful because it was on the deck and took off running in the opposite direction after is saw us in the hot tub, thank goodness. We were terrified. There is a blender and we would have found that information helpful ahead of time. The kichen is small but manageable. It would not be ideal for preparing large meals. Overall I recommend a stay here. The cabin is not new or luxury but has what you need. Could use an update on the furniture and televisons but not should not be a deal breaker. There is wifi access but the password is ridiculously long. It takes some patience entering it . LOL We would do this stay again. Also bring towels if you have more than 4 in your party.

UnHappy

OMG where do I start. Let's see. We were suppose to check in at 3pm but we took our time and didn't arrive till about 6:30. We pull up and there was a car there, so I walk into the cabin to find the cleaning crew 1 laid out on the couch with his shoes on it, 1 laid out across the chair and the worst 1 laid up in the loft on the bed. Then we go up to the loft and the toilet doesn't work. So we decide to check everything else out. There was no ice maker just 3 ice tray's The ceiling fan in the main floor bedroom didn't work There was no door handle on the inside of the front door, The washing machine doesn't spin. The kitchen table had leafs that let down that was so nasty that they stuck. The futon in the loft was broken and couldn't be slept on. The recliner was broke, The rail going to the basement was almost falling off. The 2 sleeper sofa had nasty sheets and rat dropping folded up in them. The TV in the basement did't work. If this cabin was cleaned properly and took care of it would be a really cute cabin. It was very quiet and peaceful. When I messaged the owner all she had to say was Thanks for the feed back. I think she should of been a little more upset about it. I have OCD and spent my first night cleaning when I should of been relaxing.

Is this a joke?

  • 1 of 5

We rented this property for the dates of 1/22-1/24 and were so excited for a mountain getaway. We talked to Aileen, paid for the cabin, and had the funds debited from our account. We tried multiple times to contact Aileen on our 5 hour drive to the location regarding access information to the cabin we had not received. We texted, called, messaged on the homeaway dashboard, and also contacted the chamber of commerce who called and emailed Aileen as well. We have been sitting outside the property for 2 hours trying to get in touch with Aileen still with no response and no way to enter the cabin (there is a lock box but she did not give us the code). We are in a different state and her lack of professionalism has placed us in a terrible spot, completely wasted a day of our vacation at this point, and possibly left the two of us and our puppy displaced. DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN!!!

***statement will be updated only when the owner has made this situation a positive one.

Keep looking !

  • 1 of 5

This trip was our Christmas gift to each other this year , this place was an absolutely terrible choice for my husband and I to take a quick , romantic getaway . When I saw how close it was to downtown and the fact it still had great views I thought it would be the perfect spot . I read the multiple reviews that mentioned how unclean and unkept this place was but was impressed at how quickly managment responded so I figured if we had any issues at all that it would be taken care of . We booked this at the beginning of December . When we arrived at the cabin at 1 pm. We saw trash piled up outside , but figured it was just a quick check out and ignored it . We go in to the door (where there is no door knob and a HUGE crack down the middle of the door ! ) Our first vision of the place was FILTH ! You could clearly see that it wasn't cleaned before we got there! Trash in the can , dirty tubs , and linens still on the bed ! When I contacted Aileen she gaven ME the number to the cleaning personnel and told me to contact them myself ! Although appalled at the unprofessionalism I called . The person that cleaned said she was completely unaware of our stay . When Aileen blamed it all on them for missing the dates ! After waiting for 3.5 hours for someone to come clean our cabin I contacted Aileen demanding a refund ! I wasn't shocked when she NEVER contacted me back . She didn't care that we were stuck there in a disgusting cabin ! She didn't try to make it right in any way at all !

Finally , About 4 hours of waiting someone "cleaned " the place , gave us new towels , and changed the sheets but left the dirty blankets and pillow cases on the bed still! Since a refund was clearly NOT and option so we could stay elsewhere my husband and I went out and bought cleaning supplies so we could clean and wash all the linens . Needless to say we didn't relax at all our first day there .

FYI: The view is only seen from the front porch , the hot tub is disgusting ( clearly not cleaned In a long time ) ,and the hot water lasts about 10 min when taking a shower . Oh , and if you plan on cooking make sure to bring your own pots and pans . You literally are given 2 small pots to cook with ! I was so upset at my choice of staying here and would hope that I could prevent someone in waisting their money on this place ! Keep looking ! Unless you basically want to go on an expensive camping trip! Well that would be more enjoyable considering nature is at least clean !

Cute and Affordable

  • 5 of 5

This is a very cute cabin. We shared it with another couple and there was plenty of room. There were a few little cleaning issues when we arrived, but Aileen was very concerned and sent someone immediately, who graciously took care of everything to our satisfaction. Thanks for that! :) You won't find a better deal, if affordability is important to you and the cabin is adorable. I am trying to give an honest review, so I must say it could use a bit of TLC downstairs where the pool table and laundry is, but we didn't use that anyway. We were too busy enjoying the mountains in the GSMNP. Overall, we were absolutely thrilled with the cabin. It is quality, solid wood construction with bear decor everywhere. This cabin is positioned down a little hill and I enjoyed the privacy and sense of seclusion that the wooded surroundings offered. I was not disappointed with this cabin and I will never stay in a hotel again. For less money, you can have this lovely cabin and lots of space. I would have enjoyed a few rainy days to just stay there in the cabin and soak in the whirlpool tub or the hot tub more. Better yet, I wish I could just live in it! Hey Aileen, could I have first dibs if you ever want to sell it????? I will stay here again!
