Northwest Washington Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, Convertible bed(s), Sleeps 4

This charming apartment is the entire 3rd floor of an historic row house in the dynamic neighborhood of Columbia Heights.

Price INCLUDES tax and cleaning (for stays of 4+ nights.)

From March-July, there is minimum stay of 4 nights unless there is a natural gap on the calendar.

The apartment is separate and private with a door at the bottom of the stairs, but the entry is through the main house where I live. You may come and go as you please. I'm a writer & work at home.

Location- only Half-block from Columbia Heights Metro station, (Yellow/Green line) it is only 5 stops (7-10 minutes) to tourist areas - Smithsonian museums, US Capitol, Convention Center, Zoo.

What's Nearby? - Within 2 blocks you will find dozens of restaurants and cafes, neighborhood pubs, coffee shops, grocery Store, CVS drugstore.

Shopping center with Target & Marshals. (Travel light and buy it all here!)

Other neighborhoods with similar vibrant nightlife & restaurants - Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Mount Pleasant & U st - are an easy 15-20 minute walk, or one subway stop away.

Just three more stops along (no need to change trains) is the bustling Gallery Place/Chinatown neighborhood, with the MCI arena, Convention Center, American Art Museum, Spy museum, dozens of shops and restaurants, a 14 screen movie theater, even a bowling alley!

Amenities- The apartment has one bedroom with queen sized bed, a full bathroom and a separate living room with a comfy queen-sized sofa bed. There is a TV with cable & DVD in each room.

High speed Wireless INTERNET.

In the living room there is a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, 2 electric burners, toaster, coffee maker, crock pot, etc. - everything you need to prepare light meals.

You have use of washer/dryer on 2nd floor.

Because of the open stairs the apt. is not safe for crawling babies and toddlers.

There is one Aerobed available, making it possible for 3 children to share the living room. This is very crowded however and not recommended for longer than 4 nights.

I provide a permit for free street parking.

Off street parking is available - $10.00 per night.

I accept credit cards through PayPal.

Please tell me a bit about yourself in your reply.

About Victoria

I'm a novelist. I was born in Washington DC and have lived here most of my life. I've traveled and worked all over the world and enjoy sharing my city with visitors.

Victoria purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Victoria chose District of Columbia (Washington DC)

Columbia Heights is an historic and diverse neighborhood right in the middle of the city, close to everything. Being 1/2 block to a Metro station makes everything easier!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our first real vacation to D.C. and we could not have picked a better place to stay. Close to Metro station - just a 3-4 minute walk - and close to good places to eat and shop. Just two of us so we had plenty of room - fully furnished with everything you need and very comfortable for resting up for the next adventure. Landlady was very nice and usually home to ask questions and give advice. Neighborhood was quite nice and we never had any safety / security concerns. We would very highly recommend you give this place serious consideration if going to D.C. For us, it was just about perfect.

Great Location / Fantastic Price

  • 5 of 5

Spent a long weekend in DC visiting son. The location was perfect! less then a half block away from a Capital Bikeshare station and close to the Mall and other attractions. Capital Bikeshare bike rental stations are located throughout the city (and right next door to where my son lives, too)! A brief ride south on 14th has lots of great places to eat, and the Mall is just a little further, with bike stations located throughout.

Victoria left us in the care of a relative during our stay, so we unfortunately didn't get to meet her. Nonetheless, we were well taken care of. And yes, one of the great highlights for us was being able to play with the kitties. Of course the price was very attractive to us. We look forward to staying at Victoria's the next time we head to D.C. Loved it!

PERFECT - WONDERFUL - EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED & NEEDED

  • 5 of 5

Much like trying to plan for our family's first visit to DC, I don't know where and how to start this review! This place was just perfect!! Victoria's lovely townhouse is literally 1/2 block from the Columbia Heights METRO station. So convenient!! We flew into Reagan and rode the METRO straight to the house. The home is located just a 1/2 block from the neighborhood's city center (METRO station) on a tree-lined street with a wide sidewalk. Our hostess and Ginger (the owner's sweet dog) greeted us at the door. She showed us around her lovely home and got us settled in our "apartment" space on the top floor of her home. The space was clean, well-kept, comfortable, nicely appointed and equipped for our stay (two adults, one 12 year old child). Victoria introduced our daughter to the kittens being fostered in the home and invited our daughter to spend all the time she wanted playing with the them. That was a wonderful way for our daughter to spend the little "down-time" we had in the house! After quickly getting settled in the apartment, we walked back up to the neighborhood's center which includes an IHOP, Five Guys (AWESOME burgers!!), a delicious pizza place, Panda Express, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and a Target which includes groceries. I planned to do as much cooking as possible to save money and it was surprisingly easy to prepare simple meals in the efficient kitchen area. Victoria obtained a crockpot for me and between it, the microwave, toaster and an electric burner, I was able to prepare breakfast every day and several dinners. A great way to save money in an expensive town! We enjoyed EVERYTHING about our trip! Honestly, I felt like we had been there for much longer than a week, but in the greatest possible way! I didn't want to leave. Victoria was so gracious to us and very welcoming! This is a wonderful place to call your home-away-from-home while visiting our Nation's capitol. THANK YOU Victoria for all you did for us and for opening your home!

Columbia Heights Rental

  • 4 of 5

The Heart of the City, Columbia Heights, is the perfect place to stay while visiting D.C. Victoria met us at the entrance to a lovely townhouse that was easy to find, even when we arrived in the evening. Victoria was welcoming and answered all of our questions, then got us set up with maps and restaurants and Metro Cards for our travel in D.C.

The comfortable apartment was up two flights of stairs and surprisingly quiet and peaceful after a long day in the city. The bed was comfortable, as were the sofa and chairs. The kitchen has the basic necessities only, which is great for breakfast and packing a lunch, then eating out for supper.

Everything was neat, tidy and well maintained. It was such a relief to be so close to the Metro, not even half a block to the station!

My husband and I, took in the museums, memorials and the parks around the Mall. Most of our site seeing was done on our own two feet. My husband enjoyed the Air and Space museum the most, while I loved the Art Galleries. What a treat to see many master works of art. We took in Arlington Cemetery on our last evening and ended the day in Chinatown for supper - fresh dumplings!

We usually saw Victoria at some part of the morning or evening, as one must enter the rental through Victoria's entryway/living room. There is no private entrance, but Victoria made it feel like we were coming home after a long day. It was great to meet her darling kittens that she was fostering, and of course Ginger, her cute dog.

An excellent stay in DC!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time in DC - and Victorias home was one of the main reasons!

We are a family with two children - and the apartment had absolutely everything we could have needed to make our stay comfortable.

The apartment is immaculately clean and facilities were excellent. Our children were extremely comfy on the sofa bed!

Victoria is very helpful with advice about DC and the area - as well as friendly and easy to communicate with.

The area is extremely handy to get anywhere in DC - the metro just a few houses down. So many shops and restaurants near the apartment also.

We would not hesitate in recommending Victoria's home for and visit to DC!!!

Une bonne adresse à DC

  • 4 of 5

A recommander !

conveniently located and well-maintained rental

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is OK for two, a little cramped for three, but we were out all day and never had dinner at home so it didn't matter. The location is very good, only a few steps from the metro, shops and restaurants. The apartment was very clean. Having to walk through the owner's private lodgings was no problem, actually. Victoria gave us Metro cards, which saved us time and money. Also, our son had fun playing with Victoria's four kittens. I would definitely recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thanks! I enjoyed meeting your family. And just to clarify about the 4 kittens (so people don't think I'm a "crazy cat lady!") I foster kittens for a rescue group, getting them ready for adoption. They mostly stay in one closed room and guests are always welcome to come in and play with them, but don't worry that you will have to dodge kittens all over the place!
