Pleasant place in north Maine.
This lovely house was clean and cozy, and the owner was VERY helpful. A lot of beautiful trails around. Clean lake is great for swimming. We were lucky to see a fox twice. Regardless of the dry summer we still found some mushrooms in the forest.
This is a lovely place to stay. Bob is so flexible and helpful. The house is very well equipped including Wi-Fi. We had a canoe at our disposal and a very nice gas grill. There were two places for "camp fires" so s'mores were a ritual. The beach and boat dock were an easy stroll away. The kitchen is also well equipped with plenty of dishes, pots and pans. The stove is a five burner one and with a big group that helped a lot. My husband and I may invite a group of friends this fall and return here and use our ATVs.
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed our rental. We would love to have you return this fall !! It is one our our favorite times of year with the cooler days and the spectacular fall foliage. We look forward to seeing you again.

Away from it all!
We enjoyed our stay immensely at The Depot and will not hesitate to book again! All the comforts of home and plenty of room for the whole family.
We are so pleased you enjoyed our rental. We look forward to hearing from you again next year!
Great place to relax and enjoy family.
Our whole family had a great time. The Depot had a lot room for my large family. The cabin was very clean and had every thing we needed for the week. We used the canoe that Bob supply. We fish a few hours every morning. It was slow fishing, but had a good time. Bob meet us on the road to the cabin. The power was out do to a storm that came through just as we got there. We enjoy the two fire pits and used them every night. We would recommend it to anyone that wanted a great place to relax and enjoy the family.
A wonderful tranquil retreat near lakefront
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Depot for 11 nights in late July 2016. It is a wonderful, secluded, quiet house about 2 minute stroll to the lakefront. There is a small private dock on the lakefront and one can put a canoe or kayak in there. Bob was very gracious and helped us rent two kayaks for the duration of our stay. We were able to kayak out on the lake for several hours each day, and the water was very clear -- not many boats at all. There are close to 14 miles of shoreline easily accessible from the dock, though we probably ventured out half that at best. We did not see moose in late July, but we did see many loons teaching their young to fish. The fire pits by the water and the side of the house were fun to makes smores on, and provided a lot of late night warmth. The gas grill by the house is a great plus for days when the wood might be wet from a brief rain. The nearby birch filled woods have many interesting trails to walk along with cool vegetation, mushrooms, birds, and small wildlife. There's a general store about 20 minutes away for necessities and the town of Lincoln about 40 minutes away if you want to shop. We did that once, for the whole week, at the beginning of our stay. The house is remarkably well equipped given its secludedness: there is electricity, and hot water, a washer, dryer, dishwasher, television (no cable), a stove with an oven, a full size fridge, and lots of utensils and cookware. In contrast, most of the cottages around the lake are just camps -- without electricity even. So in some sense, this is as secluded as you can get, and close to nature, without having to totally tough it out in the wilderness. One note is that there is no internet, and for me on Verizon, I could only get cellphone service by turning on "roaming" (I am guessing perhaps that only Canadian carriers reach here) in spite of the cellphone signal booster box which is installed in the dining room area. This was not a big issue for us because we were trying to get away from "civilization" and closer to nature -- but if you need non-stop Netflix to be streaming at you in the Maine woods, this might not be the best choice :) All in all, and absolutely charming and wonderful time! Both of us have wonderful memories of our stay, and the graciousness of our host, Bob. We recommend this rental wholeheartedly for a quiet and fun relaxing getaway!
Thank you so much for staying with us. We are glad you enjoyed our piece of paradise and we hope you will return next year!
