About Carol Lewis
My husband and I have owned a landscape company in Palm Beach County, Florida for 36 years.
Carol Lewis purchased this House in 2005
Why Carol Lewis chose Clayton
We developed the nearby Mountain Creek Estates subdivision and saved a wonderful 10-acre lot for ourselves. It borders a rushing creek and has fabulous views. All thoughts of building on our lot went out the window when we discovered this property which was being sold by Coca Cola heiress Frances Woodruff - known locally as 'Mrs. Tut.' As a part-time realtor, I see a lot of properties, but the views from the porch of this cabin and the tranquility of the farm cannot be beat!
What makes this House unique
This property high up on Tut's Mountain was formerly the petting zoo of Coca Cola heiress Frances Woodruff. Remnants of the bear den, eagles' lair and other artifacts still can be seen. Neighbors graze their horses and cows in our pastures. The nearby Town of Clayton has the feel of stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting of a quieter, gentler time when people had time to chat & share recipes in shops. There still is a soda fountain in the drugstore, a drive-in movie theater and a general store where you can buy everything from a house dress to hunting supplies.

Perfect getaway in the mountains
The cabin is AMAZING! its beautiful, the views are out of this world, especially the sunrise & the cabin is stocked with anything & everything you need. The beds & couch are also comfortable. The area has so much to offer & do. You are close to the town of Clayton, a Walmart to get any food you want and many of the area hiking, state parks and lake attractions as well as wineries. Carol was a great host & easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay again!
We had a great stay at this home! Secluded property near the top of Tuts mountain had everything we needed. Huge loft with 5 beds meant every kid had his own bed, plus two more private rooms for the adults. House was well stocked and even had some of those extras (dish soap, salt and pepper, tp and bathroom soap) that you don’t always find in rentals. We spent every night out on the deck enjoying the Mountain View and watching the cows in the pasture. We are already planning our next trip.
Perfect get away
We were blown away by the views. Completely secluded, beautiful home. Felt like they thought of everything we would need so we never had to leave. Perfect for families of all ages. Hosts were communicative and helpful and we would absolutely rent this property again.
Beautiful Mountain Views!
We have stayed at Mountain Creek Lodge many times. The home is beautiful, comfortable and well stocked with kitchen supplies. The views are stunning, the property is peaceful and the cows are adorable! The property also has a wonderful history to it. The owners are wonderful to work with.
My sisters and I brought our mother to Mountain Creek Lodge as a special getaway. There was covered parking right next to the house, and everything, including the marvelous porch, was on the same level. It felt very remote and private, but we were only 10 minutes from town, shopping and great restaurants. The lodge was exceptionally clean, and the kitchen was the best equipped I have experienced. We spent a great deal of time on the porch, which has stunning views without another house in sight, not to mention sunrises every morning. We would definitely book this property again.
This house is a paradise in the mountains! SItting on the back deck, on the last night there, we were mesmerized by the lightning bugs twinkling through the tree tops as the mountains were showered by the light of a full moon! We could have slept all night in the hammocks but decided the extremely soft and comfortable beds would serve us a better sleep for our drive home the next morning. With four large beds and a single upstairs and two separate, large bedrooms downstairs, it easily gave all 10 of us plenty of room. The master is large enough for a wheelchair and has handrails in the bathroom. Another one on the wall, next to the toilet would make it perfect. While some of us read, others had plenty of room to play board games on the large dining table. Carol thought of everything and we walked in to a clean, comfortable, and inviting respite. AC worked perfectly while we enjoyed nature's warm sun through the many beautiful doors and windows...a beautifully built home. We would love to come back in the winter when we can sit by the fire and stay longer.
