Great location the lovely Baixa Alto area - da Bica neighbhood
Space is clean and adorable. Great neighborhood. Paolo was the perfect host; very helpful and patient with our change in arrival time. He was valuable in providing us with information re closest neighborhood market, great quaint neighborhood restaurant (Estrela da Bica -- highly recommend) for dinner, and calling us a taxi and referral to closest private pay hospital at 11:30 pm night. Paolo, despite being out of town, was quick to respond and even called us a taxi. It all worked out. We returned to enjoy the rest of our stay after our 4-hour visit to emergency room. The doctors and staff at Hospital da Luz were so very helpful and knowledgeable. The apartment was nicely decorated and clean. We did not use the bedroom on the upper floor because we did not feel comfortable navigating the block stairs/railing in the middle of the night. :) Anyone over 60 years of age should be mindful of that. :)
Very friendly host responds quickly to emails. Taxi to center of Rossi Square is about 10 euros. I don't recommend for the elderly or children because of steps and stairs inside apartment. Very clean ..enjoyed stay.
Thanks for your comments, but just want to say that children used to love the stairs and until now that was never a problem
A whiff of real house in the hearth of Lisbon
We were a group of three people and we stayed at Casa da Bica for 5 nights in the beginning of April.
The house was decorated with a lot of taste and the owner was very kind and ready to help when needed. The proximity of the Casa to the historic centre and to Cais do Sodre metro and train station was very convenient. However, if you need more privacy it could be difficult to be obtained as the whole house has open space conception, with a door at the bathroom only. The house is situated in very communicative area and it was a little bit noisy during the nights unless the windows were kept closed.
As a whole we had very positive impression both from the place and the owner and would recommend Casa da Bica to other travellers.
Thank you for your review I want to say that about the. Noise you must not forget that you are in the middle of a city although during your staying days was Easter holidays and for that that a lot more of young people on the streets , normally is quieter and as you said with the windows closed it is ok ,
Thanks anyway and thanks also to keep the house very well kept
Fabulous accommodation and location
Paulo's apartment is first rate. We loved the sunny aspect and charming decor. Great bed, bed linens and shower. We walked everywhere from this location and discovered wonderful eating options nearby. Thank you Paulo for all your tourist suggestions and for arranging our taxi to the airport. Having a wonderful apartment to return to after a busy day of touring really made our trip to your beautiful city very special.
Thank you both it was also a pleasure receiving you, and also thanks to take so good care of the house, you left it spotless,
Hope to see you again
Cozy and Charming
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely, well-appointed duplex, which overlooked a hilly street and had a terrific coffee shop a stone’s throw away. The loft was comfortable and the place was nice, clean and quiet. The location is ideal, walking distance to the middle of a district loaded with interesting shops, bars and restaurants. Our accommodations provided everything we needed, just like being at home. I would highly recommend this gem of a find! Almost forgot, our host was a perfect gentleman who greeted us warmly and made us feel like we were visiting family. Thank you Paulo. We will be back!
Thank you to you both it was also a pleasure to receive you, Casa da Bica is always open to receive you
Steve and Nancy
We loved our stay at Casa Bica and highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Lisbon Historic Center. The location is ideal, close to everything yet in a quiet neighborhood. It's easy to walk to, also easy to access the local transportation, very easy walk to the river. The house itself is a gem - obviously decorated and renovated recently - very clean. The house has everything you need - a kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher. 2 very cute bedrooms and a very nice bathroom. There is Wifi, a TV and an iPod doc. Paulo is an excellent host and was very helpful to us. He gave us good recommendations for sight seeing and was accessible if we had a question or problem. If you come to Casa Bica you won't be disappointed.
Steve and Nancy are the perfect guests it was a pleasure receiving them at Casa da Bica and I'm very glad that they appreciate their stay
Located in the historic district of Lisbon with the Elevator da Bica, in a quiet and picturesque
Right in the middle of the historical center of Lisbon, near 'Elevator da Bica', this is a brand new house were you will fell at home,
From here you can go visit Lisbon by walking nice surroundings, great restaurants, bars, etc but do not worry because the house is situated in a quiet place. The best place to stay for a longer holiday or a short term one.
This simple little quarter, Which runs down from the Causeway Combro / Loreto Street to the Tagus, exudes peacefulness Considerably more than neighboring Bairro Alto. Only a few cars journey here due to its sloping site and its dense construction. Narrow streets and flights of steps dissect the old quarter, Which appears extremely self contained and unspoiled. Here, as in Alfama and Mouraria, there are simple pubs, Which serves the inhabitants of Bica, almost exclusively, the meeting places.
