About Michael Monroe and Susan Bloom
I am Michael and retired from the insurance and investment business of more than 40 years. I have traveled extensively for business and pleasure all over the world. I am Susan, I am retired from the ski industry as a manufacturers rep for 40 years. We both love the outdoors, skiing, hiking, boating and biking. We have a small dog Annie who loves to greet people. She is our welcoming agent! We operated a previous vacation rental for more than 2 years in our prior home just down the street. Consistent 5 Star ratings.

Why Michael Monroe and Susan Bloom chose Truckee
If you are seeking quiet solitude in a rural neighborhood setting in the forest, this is your place. We have lived on the same street for nearly 15 years. The property is on 1.5 acres in a forested setting. It is a beautiful isolated gem in the Truckee Lake Tahoe area. Close to town and many outdoor activities in all seasons. The apartment has a full kitchen, full bath, king size bed in the bedroom, a living and dining area.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love our new home. Just built, we moved in August, 2018. In our prior home we had a vacation rental unit that consistently received 5 star reviews. We know how to do it right, as we are world travelers and have stayed in Many VRBO units around the world, from small studios to luxurious beach front villas. The serene Hideaway apartment is just as the name implies. Quiet, off the beaten track, yet close enough to any adventure you may want to encounter. All of the properties on our street are on 1.5 acres to 5 acres. there are 12 resident homes on the 1 mile long street, so plenty of room to roam.

We found this quiet get away to be the beautiful, calm and relaxing environment we needed as we escape the Bay Area pace and chaos we live with. A great experience from booking to checkout. Michael & Susan made us feel more like guests than renters.
The apartment has a modern simple elegance with lovely luxury touches such as the plush towels, selection of bed pillows and a chilled bottle of Brut awaiting us. A view of pines out every window with accompanying pine scent when the windows are open.
We enjoyed golf at Brockway in KingsBeach, fishing at Stampede Dam and a Reno concert. Had a great breakfast at Squeeze Inn(one serving enough for two)
Only thing missing were drawers to fully unpack in... but that won’t keep us from returning for another stay.
Full Service Apartment in Quiet Location
Michael and Susan were great hosts. The unit was immaculate with a fully equipped kitchen and lots of info to help us plan activities during our stay. We were in the area over a very busy 4th of July weekend and really enjoyed having a respite from the crowds. Would definitely recommend this location to others.
A Return to Serene Hideaway: Warmth, Beauty, Convenience, And Fun!
After a most enjoyable stay at Serene Hideaway in late December, 2018, it was an obvious choice for accommodation during our family spring skiing vacation, in Tahoe. Again Michael and Susan were welcoming, hospitable, and thoughtful during our stay. Indoors, Serene Hideaway provided ample room for my daughter, my wife and I, along with our aged dog. The well appointed living space is warm, comfortable, and secure. Outdoors, my daughter and I made use of the property, sledding (discs provided by Michael and Susan) and (very) short run beginner skiing, hours of exhausting fun - we had a blast. And, much like our last visit, Serene Hideaway became an integral part of what will surely be long lasting delightful and precious family memories. We look forward to a third run to Serene Hideaway.
Danny, Thank you for your 5 star review. We always strive to make our guests welcome and help them enjoy their stay. We are delighted you returned for the second time and enjoyed your time here. We look forward to future visits from your family.
Attention to Detail
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful spring skiing weekend at Serene Hideaway. The place was impeccably clean and well appointed. Michael and Susan paid great attention to detail, even writing our names on a welcome sign and a bottle of champagne - welcome, unexpected touches. The location is about 5 miles outside of Truckee, and an easy drive to nearby ski resorts and the lake. Would definitely stay here again in any season.
Thank you so much for the 5 star review. We try hard to make our place exceptionally clean and inviting as well as being well appointed and pay strict attention to all the details you mention. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and the wonderful skiing we have available. Please come and join us again soon.
Had such a great time here, and really enjoyed the place. It is very cozy, private and spacious (w/ extra tall ceilings). It was great to lookout the tall windows, and see the surrounding forest. There is a kitchen which we used to whip up a quick dinner.
Highly recommend this place!
Thank you for helping us maintain our 5 Star service. We enjoyed having you visit, and are pleased you enjoyed the cozy, private and roomy atmosphere of our apartment.
We are delighted you were happy with the beautiful view from our extra large windows to view the surrounding forests.
We hope you join us for a future visit and stay a little longer.
Beautiful, Clean, Private Apartment
We had a great stay and would highly recommend this property! It's 10-15 minutes from downtown Truckee, very accessible but the neighborhood and property feel secluded. The house was recently built and the apartment was very new, thoughtfully decorated and clean, with nice homey and welcoming touches. Private entrance, lots of windows and great natural light, great view of the trees and snow falling. Cozy fireplace and warm bedding kept us warm and happy. Just FYI there is a kitchen, but no oven. Michael was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. A true VRBO gem! Would definitely go back. Thank you for a great stay!
Thank you so much for your 5 Star review. We are pleased you loved our property, the warm friendly atmosphere, the cleanliness and the location, All of the things we feel makes our property special.
We welcome you to return anytime.
