More Info: Winter:

Because of the efficiency of our wood burning stove, there is no need for electric heat (although it is available for use). The wood burning stove creates an atmosphere of warmth and keeps the cabin nice and cozy. Starting it is easy as we keep starter logs and plenty of kindling available.

We do not rent monthly. There is a two week maximum stay. $25/person/night over 10 people.

Sorry, we do not allow dogs. If a dog is brought to the cabin during your stay, you will be asked to leave immediately, lose your security deposit and no refund will be given for any unused portion of your rental.

No last minute reservations accepted. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.

Well appointed cabin that was warm and inviting.

  • 5 of 5

Really thankful that we found a place so close to our family's cabin. Our family really enjoyed the piano and the assortment of board games and movies. This place felt like a home more so than a rental.

Great for a big family ski trip!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this cabin, and would definitely return. We thought the one-car limit would be a problem, but parking on the road even with the snow was no problem. The drive to Dodge Ridge is fast - 15 minutes or less. Do take the owner's advice of stopping for groceries in Twain Harte. You don't want to pay the prices any closer. And the restaurant 5 minutes away, Mia's, would be a great choice anywhere--their pizza was really fabulous. The cabin's kitchen is FULLY stocked. We joked about it not having a ladle...until we found the ladle. We couldn't even joke about how fully stocked it was. There were tons of toboggans, as well as some lawn chairs, under the house, at least when we were there. The cabin also had lots of movies for all ages, as well as board games and cards. The Matrix, Clue, and Gin Rummy - how can you go wrong?

Great in the snow!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this cabin! It was a perfect getaway for two families. God blessed us with a fair amount of snow on the ground, and additional snowfall while we were there. It was a real winter wonderland!

The kids loved playing outside in the snow. We built snowboys and girls, and even snow dogs! The hill below the cabin worked well as a toboggan run, but watch out for the trees! There was a deserted school about 1/2 a mile away that provided a somewhat safer place to toboggan.

Inside we really enjoyed the cosy fire place, the games, and the movies. The kitchen was well provisioned, and the bedrooms were nice and cosy.

We made a poor choice in going into the driveway without chains on, but the property manager was kind enough to help us get the car out safely. Parking on the street was not an issue for us.

Cyndee was great to work with and we found her to be very accommodating. Can't wait to go there next time!

Super fun winter get-away

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at this vacation house over winter break. There was not a ton of snow, but we found a fun sled run at nearby Pinecrest Lake. The shallow part of the lake was also frozen over, so we got to play out there. And the skating rink at Long Barn is excellent for little kids - they have inverted buckets available as stabilizers, which worked great. My 6 year-old loved the house, there are lots of books, toys, and games, as well as the 250+ movie collection. The kitchen has everything you need, we mostly ate-in.

The only slightly negative part was that the main living area is heated by a wood burning stove, which is charming but slightly smoky (it could be that we did not have the door closed properly?). Each bedroom has its own wall heater, and those worked great.

Cyndee is great to work with, we are looking forward to heading back up for more snow play!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice comments. So glad you had fun. Yes, you definitely need to close the wood burning stove door all the way so that the smoke goes up the pipe. It will escape through any other openings. Also, there is a wall heater in between the two sliding glass doors to help heat the main living area. Again, thank you and I hope we can accommodate you again for your winter/summer get-away!

Grandma's Review!

  • 5 of 5

We were extremely pleased and enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Each summer we take our "five" oldest grandchildren to the mountains for a week. The cabin was clean and neat and accomodated our stay with such a large group. Close to Pinecrest recreational area, we spent many hours hiking, swimming and riding horseback. Hop, skip and jump, we were back at the cabin. Nights were so quiet... We would recommend this cabin to anyone who needs larger facilities and wants to be close to the "action".

Beautiful! Perfect and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this cabin, and my dealings with the owner. My entire family was able to stay in comfort and privacy and I will recommend this cabin to anyone. Its cozy, quiet, and beautiful. You immediately walk in and feel like you're home. Will be back very soon!
