Crescent Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

Crescent Lake Cabin is a secluded, private cabin on Crescent Creek near the town of Crescent Lake Junction in Oregon. It is the ideal location for a secluded, relaxing, natural getaway, with activities the whole year round.

A recent entry in the cabin guest book says, 'What a wonderful spot by the creek! We started the weekend with ambitions of hikes and canoeing on lakes and then soon realized that the best thing was staying by the cabin, walking through the woods, splashing in the creek, playing with inner tubes, playing fetch with our dog, enjoying the wood stove and treasuring each other's company.'

If you do have ambitions of hikes, canoeing, mountain biking, or exploring in general, there is plenty to do:

At Crescent Lake Cabin, you can:

* Fish from our dock

* Swim in either of two swimming holes

* Float down the creek

* Enjoy your morning coffee with your feet in the creek

* Cross-country ski or snowmobile from our front door (winter only!)

We are also:

* 5 minutes from fishing and water skiing on Crescent Lake

* 5 minutes from Odell Lake for more fishing

* Near world-class mountain biking

* Near the Pacific Crest Trail and other trailheads

* I can provide you with hiking and mountain biking trail guides

* 10 minutes from Willamette Pass Ski Area

* 60 miles from Crater Lake and Diamond Lake

* 1 mile from Crescent Lake Junction, with gas, a convenience store, a burger restaurant, and a tavern

Also, people often ask if there will be snow, and my best response is that I can't predict the weather! The trend is that from November through March, there is a good chance of snow, but it is not guaranteed. In 2014-2015, there was little snow. This winter, 2015-16, has plenty of snow. Also, when there is snow, travel is more difficult, and it is necessary to use the wood stove to keep warm. If this sounds like a fun adventure to you, I encourage you to stay in the winter!

About Mark Rabenstein

I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, especially at our cabin (Crescent Lake Cabin!) For example, in the summer we hike, float in the creek, mountain bike, and fish. In the winter, we ski and sled in the driveway. Professionally, I'm a chemist and a software designer and tester.

Mark Rabenstein purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Mark Rabenstein chose Southern Oregon

As a kid, my family had a cabin. As a parent, I wanted to give the same to my children. They have grown up visiting the cabin. Crescent Lake Cabin is convenient to us; it is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from where we live in Bend (and the same distance from Eugene!). Also, We enjoy the seclusion of 3.5 acres, as well as being on Crescent Creek. The natural setting is also gorgeous, with the creek, meadows with butterflies, and pine trees.

What makes this cabin unique

In the summer, we enjoy spending time at the dock on the creek, and playing with the kids in the creek. We usually don't go to the lake because the creek is so fun and convenient! In the winter, we enjoy walking out the door and cross-country skiing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is a steal! The cabin was actually much roomier than we expected with more sleeping area than it looks like online. The king size bed was super comfortable. The cabin was very well stocked. We LOVED the creek which is huge and fun to use floaty toys to float down and the crawdad trap was a hit with the kids. We also made s'mores at the fire pit and that was great. The balcony with BBQ that overlooks the creek is a great place to sit outside and eat. The two lakes within 5 minutes of the cabin are great for fishing and swimming and you can rent boats at either one. Beautiful, calm place to stay. We brought a few movies to watch at night at there is no cable but if we didn't have the kids I probably wouldn't have.

Thanks,

Matt and Laurie

Mom's Getaway

  • 4 of 5

My girlfriend's and I escaped children and husband's for the weekend and visited Crater Lake. We stayed in Crescent Lake and visited Diamond Lake and Odell Lake while we were there. Thee cabin was very charming, and had enough space for everyone to stretch out and relax. The wood fire kept the place very warm and cozy. If the weather was nicer we would have used to back porch and deck longer, but it was pretty chilly. We are planning to return in the summer with our families.

Fun Fall Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the summer in the past, and thought we would try a fall weekend away. It was too cold for the creek, but we still had fun walking around the property, and then walking along Crescent Lake. As it was in the summer, the cabin was clean and Mark was helpful with answering our questions about what to expect.

A Gem !

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have stayed at this sweet, cozy, rustic cabin on many occasions, through many seasons.

It is WONDERFUL from so many aspects: the property's location - on 3 acres with a view of and easy access to a babbling tributary from Crescent Lake in which the kids love to splash around in and float during the summers, to the classic A-frame structure and the wood burning fireplace which makes for wonderfully romantic and cozy evenings on snowy nights where the kids have been sledding all day and are ready for a warm meal and game by the fire.

This site is perfect for those folks looking to get away, relax, read, be outdoors. Likely built in the 1970's this cabin has the basics - stove, fridge/freezer, pot/pans, plates, glasses for cooking, washer/dryer but not a state of the art kitchen. (If this is a requirement for you, you may want to keep looking)I love to cook and this kitchen has all I need to make an amazing meal for a family of 6!

There is no wifi and the TV is very old but for us this is part of the charm ! We are here to escape all of this, to clear our heads from the rat-race consisting of the internet, media and screens. If you need to have access to these things to enjoy yourself, you may want to keep looking, but we love it !

Every time we have stayed here it has always been very clean and tidy. There are a few cob-webs here and there but so what, it's a cabin in the woods !

My family and I hope to have many more great times at this sweet place!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! There is now a new TV; hopefully that doesn't ruin the charm!. But still no wifi...

Beautiful secluded spot, but there are problems

  • 2 of 5

We enjoyed this lovely property, however there were significant problems with the cabin. The owner advertised a functioning TV (though he did not connectivity) but the very old TV was broken (picture tube shot) and we could not play any videos. The owner promised a CD player but we could not find any. The washing machine in use had only 2 inches of water--we had to add water from the kitchen with a bucket. The washer did not agitate; it only spun. The dryer screeched like it was on the verge of breakdown, though it did dry, and we found it stuffed with face towels and washcloths, which explained why there were none in the house. The microwave was ancient and heated very slowly. The dishes had dried food on them so we had to rewash them before use. The cabinets had what appeared to be mouse or rat shit on the shelves so to be safe we washed their content (pots and pans) before use. The oven was coated with cooking debris and grease and needed cleaning badly, as did the ventilator and its screens. The wall heater in the bathroom did not work, which left the room cold during showers, as the wood-stove was on the other end of the cabin. There were no mattress pads under the sheets in the bedrooms, making the sanitary status of the mattresses questionable. To conclude, the location was the great asset of the Crescent Lake Cabin. It made up to some extent for many of the problems. The owner should make sure the place is clean and ready for occupancy before renting, should replace the worn out or dysfunctional appliances, and should not promise equipment that is nonexistent or does not work. We did inform the owner of these issues but received no response from him.

Owner's Response: Dan - I'm sorry that you were disappointed with the cabin. I didn't see your email to me; I would have responded had I seen it. I have addressed some of the issues already, and will address the others soon. The TV was tricky to use, so it has been replaced. The DVD player doubles as a CD player. There is also an audio input jack for iPhones and mp3 players. The washing machine is new, so I'm surprised it isn't working. I will investigate that. (Update: It is working). And I will get a new microwave, dryer, and heater for the bathroom. (Update: There is a space heater in the bathroom now. The wall heater will be replaced.) The cabin is getting a deep cleaning next week (Update: this happened). There are now hypoallergenic mattress covers. Thanks for your feedback, -Mark

Perfect for our Family

  • 5 of 5

We totally enjoyed your property. It was perfect for our family. Close enough to Crescent Lake Resort so we could listen to music on Saturday night, yet far enough from the main road we didn't hear the traffic. Cabin was stocked with almost everything one would need, yet a little more than expected. We even roasted marshmellows: one night in the wood stove and another night in a very small campfire.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
