Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

Crescent Lake Cabin is a secluded, private cabin on Crescent Creek near the town of Crescent Lake Junction in Oregon. It is the ideal location for a secluded, relaxing, natural getaway, with activities the whole year round.

A recent entry in the cabin guest book says, 'What a wonderful spot by the creek! We started the weekend with ambitions of hikes and canoeing on lakes and then soon realized that the best thing was staying by the cabin, walking through the woods, splashing in the creek, playing with inner tubes, playing fetch with our dog, enjoying the wood stove and treasuring each other's company.'

If you do have ambitions of hikes, canoeing, mountain biking, or exploring in general, there is plenty to do:

At Crescent Lake Cabin, you can:

* Fish from our dock

* Swim in either of two swimming holes

* Float down the creek

* Enjoy your morning coffee with your feet in the creek

* Cross-country ski or snowmobile from our front door (winter only!)

We are also:

* 5 minutes from fishing and water skiing on Crescent Lake

* 5 minutes from Odell Lake for more fishing

* Near world-class mountain biking

* Near the Pacific Crest Trail and other trailheads

* I can provide you with hiking and mountain biking trail guides

* 10 minutes from Willamette Pass Ski Area

* 60 miles from Crater Lake and Diamond Lake

* 1 mile from Crescent Lake Junction, with gas, a convenience store, a burger restaurant, and a tavern

Also, people often ask if there will be snow, and my best response is that I can't predict the weather! The trend is that from November through March, there is a good chance of snow, but it is not guaranteed. In 2014-2015, there was little snow. This winter, 2015-16, has plenty of snow. Also, when there is snow, travel is more difficult, and it is necessary to use the wood stove to keep warm. If this sounds like a fun adventure to you, I encourage you to stay in the winter!

About Mark Rabenstein

I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, especially at our cabin (Crescent Lake Cabin!) For example, in the summer we hike, float in the creek, mountain bike, and fish. In the winter, we ski and sled in the driveway. Professionally, I'm a chemist and a software designer and tester.

Mark Rabenstein purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Mark Rabenstein chose Southern Oregon

As a kid, my family had a cabin. As a parent, I wanted to give the same to my children. They have grown up visiting the cabin. Crescent Lake Cabin is convenient to us; it is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from where we live in Bend (and the same distance from Eugene!). Also, We enjoy the seclusion of 3.5 acres, as well as being on Crescent Creek. The natural setting is also gorgeous, with the creek, meadows with butterflies, and pine trees.

What makes this cabin unique

In the summer, we enjoy spending time at the dock on the creek, and playing with the kids in the creek. We usually don't go to the lake because the creek is so fun and convenient! In the winter, we enjoy walking out the door and cross-country skiing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is a steal! The cabin was actually much roomier than we expected with more sleeping area than it looks like online. The king size bed was super comfortable. The cabin was very well stocked. We LOVED the creek which is huge and fun to use floaty toys to float down and the crawdad trap was a hit with the kids. We also made s'mores at the fire pit and that was great. The balcony with BBQ that overlooks the creek is a great place to sit outside and eat. The two lakes within 5 minutes of the cabin are great for fishing and swimming and you can rent boats at either one. Beautiful, calm place to stay. We brought a few movies to watch at night at there is no cable but if we didn't have the kids I probably wouldn't have.

Thanks,

Matt and Laurie

Great escape- classic cabin

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to take my kids to a cabin like I had been to growing up, and this turned out to be a perfect fit. We spent most of our time outside at the creek, and with a side trip to Waldo Lake. But it was great to have a Cabin with a kitchen, shower, and beds to come back to. It is definitely a cabin with some things matching, some not. But it was definitely clean, cozy, and welcoming.

Needs work but has a good foundation

  • 3 of 5

We had high expectations for this place due to the reviews, price and photos. Unfortunately we were disappointed with several things and actually left a day early.

-shower drained extremely slow so the water pooled very quickly up to your ankles.

-yard was overgrown and had boards with nails sticking out of them laying in a pile.

- too many propane tanks (rusted) sitting on the deck.

- regulating temps at night was very difficult.

- most of th dvds are scratched and don't work.

- the grill is big but kind of a mess. Knobs have no labels so you don't know where the ignite area is. Kind of dangerous.

The place just needs some cleaning and maintenance and it would be great.

Kitchen is well stocked but for sure bring your own knives as the ones there are horrible.

The dock and river is fantastic! The best feature of the place.

Summer 2017

  • 5 of 5

This was the second year our family has stayed at Crescent Lake Cabin. We love it here! So peaceful and relaxing. The house is fully equipped and accommodating. The dock and creek are one of our favorite spots to spend the day sunbathing, swimming and fishing. Love it so much we are planning on coming back again in the fall and next summer. It is like a home away from home. Thanks Mark for allowing us to enjoy your special getaway!

Great getaway location.

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time there , first time was in March. We enjoyed it both times , it's real quiet and peaceful a great place to have a relaxing getaway. We love the fact that we can take our four pawed family along. Thinking about making it an annual trip.

The setting, deck and dock are lovely, but the cabin is dirty and not well maintained.

  • 2 of 5

For the high rental price the cleanliness was subpar and the downstairs bed is terrible.

Owner's Response: Hi Sherrie - I'm sorry that you were disappointed by some aspects of the cabin. Literally right after your stay (and before I saw your review) I changed out the queen bed with a new pillowtop bed, so that is much better now. Additionally, the stove was changed out for one with a ceramic top, so it will be much easier to keep clean. Finally, there is also a new dryer. As far as cleanliness goes, the cabin is cleaned between each guest. But dirt does build up in the corners, so now I have instituted periodic "deep cleaning" to make sure the whole cabin stays clean. Thank you for your feedback. I keep improving the cabin, and hopefully if you choose to stay again you will enjoy your experience. -Mark
