Enjoy spectacular 180 degree ocean and mountain views from our classic Oregon coast beach front house. The great room has large windows on three sides through which you can watch your family playing on the beach on nice days or watch the pounding surf during winter storms. The kitchen is large enough for group cooking and also has ocean views. There are four upstairs bedrooms; all but one overlook the ocean. Even the bathroom in the master bedroom boasts glorious views! A downstairs television room seconds as the fifth bedroom with an alcove for the bed. The all-wood interior gives the house an authentic Oregon coast look and a warm, cozy feeling on stormy days.
A seven mile long sandy beach, Manzanita beach stretches from Neahkahnie Mountain to the Nehalem River jetty. From our house, it is a 10 minute walk down the beach to the small, friendly town of Manzanita. This not overly touristy town has just the right mix of retail shops, coffee shops, bookstore's, restaurants and great grocery stores.
Our house is at the center of a natural paradise that includes hiking trails through old growth forests with incredible ocean vistas, miles of bike paths in Nehalem Bay State Park, surfing at Oswald State Park, fishing in Nehalem River, and crabbing in Nehalem Bay. Golfers will enjoy Manzanita's beautiful and challenging nine hole course. Shoppers can spend time in the art galleries of nearby Cannon Beach or the antique shops of even closer Nehalem and Wheeler.
The front lawn of our house is a perfect place to relax during the day or to enjoy Barbequing while watching amazing sunsets. On stormy days, curl up with a book in front of the fire.

This place is enchanting. A comfy house, with lots of room, well stocked, tastefully and intelligently furnished, well-situated and wonderful beach.
Between Bread and Ocean, the market and bookshop on right side as you drive down the main drag to the beach, an offbeat seafood restaurant, and great pizza place - really, what more do you want?
Well, this house for starters....lots of nooks to plop down in for a snooze, fun collection of board games, open workable kitchen great for entertaining - and all this not much of a drive from Portland [where, by the way, don't miss a meal at Lovely Hula Hands].
I feel like a bit of a turncoat - I'm an eastern seaboard brat with strong ties to the Adirondacks and the Maine Coast, but I now live in NM. And the next time I want to hit the beach, this will be my first choice.
Thank you for a delightful time in a AAA house and setting.
[My apologies for not getting around to this sooner. Fall 2008]
Stayed here several times over the last 15 years...highly recommend it!
Kitchen is very well equipped. just about anything you need would be there. living room and dining room are perfect for family gatherings/card playing and meals. electric cooktop and oven is a bit dated. Fireplace added a nice ambiance-all wood was supplied. Bedrooms are small-but functional. Little storage space in bedrooms. The true highlight is the 180 view in the most lived in areas-living room and dining room. The house isn't all that distinctive from the outside - but you just need to get inside. great 'mud room' at back entry for boots, coats, bags et all. The final question: 'would we stay there again?' To sum it up our 8 1/2 year old guest said "it was marvelous. every bit of it."
We were very comfortable in this roomy house. Loved cooking in the well equipped kitchen! Great walks out to the stormy sea and even greater times looking out at the storms through the large windows.
We had a party of nine and most enjoyed these features: large kitchen with lots of counter space, plenty of dishes, cookware, utensils; large open living/dining/kitchen/parlor area with large windows on all exterior walls, giving a broad, direct beach view (this space allowed everyone to be together even though they might be doing different things); large dining table easily seats 10+ with a wipeable tablecloth; separate TV room with a large sectional sofa accommodates 6+ viewers at once; all but one bedroom on the upper level, so getting away from the activity downstairs was easy; furnishings are comfortable and casual; large entry hall with plenty of coat racks and shoe storage space + small covered porch with bench and room for rain gear and boots.
This house was exactly what we expected, and there were no surprises. It is clean, well stocked, and very comfortable. It's right on the beach in a very nice neighborhood and is walking (long walk) to the cute little beach town of Manzanita.
