About Randa Whitaker
Hello! We are two LSU alumni that have been together for almost a decade! Kyle is born and bred Baton Rouge. I am from Guntersville, Alabama, a small town in the NE corner. Kyle works in Construction Management and I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Dietetics to become a Registered Dietitian. We love to travel, but with our busy schedule, most traveling these days is centered around visiting family and places we can bring our two pups, a golden retriever and Siberian husky. Just 10 years ago, Kyle and I were best friends hanging out around the neighborhood and downtown together. We had no idea then that those days would transform into a beautiful relationship and a home renovation in our favorite Baton Rouge location.
Randa Whitaker purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Randa Whitaker chose Historic Downtown Baton Rouge
Kyle bought this property in 2007 and it needed a lot of work. He was drawn to this property because of it's size and it's location in our historic neighborhood. Kyle and I actually met from both living in this neighborhood. The neighborhood is vibrant, and friendly. Neighbors speak to each other, plan parties together and help each other in time of need. In a busy downtown neighborhood, this is special. The neighbors and their homes are colorful and interesting, housing many artist, professors, politicians and people like us who have a hard time with ordinary. I love walking around and looking at the old homes.
What makes this Cottage unique
This home is small enough to be cozy, but open enough to not feel cramped. We have updated every square inch of this house! The gourmet kitchen is prepared for any meal and even for cocktails! I love the gas range and that the kitchen is open to the living room. While there is only one bathroom, we made sure it was fit for luxury with plenty of storage. The off-street parking and back yard sets us apart from other rentals in the area. The back deck is a new addition and it is something we have dreamed about for 10 years! It really transformed our yard to the ultimate hang-out zone. We hope you enjoy our home as much as us!

Cozy, well appointed and convenient
We came to Baton Rouge in pursuit of some Louisiana history and found ourselves in a great little neighborhood with history of its own. Walking distance to downtown, all of the historic sites and a well stocked grocery store (Matherne's). The house is clean, well appointed and absolutely lovely. Perfect for our visit.
The Red Stick Farmer's market (Sat) is 2 blocks away and their are multiple bars, food trucks, and coffee shops in walking distance. The interstate is two blocks away to make venturing out and about a breeze.
