Blue Moon is located on an end street on the bay side of St. George Island. Seclusion at its best! Put your feet up in the cushy lounge chairs and relax with a cold drink and the view from the 500 sq ft front porch overlooking the Apalachicola Bay. You'll be entertained by an abundance of sea birds and periodic jumping fish. Watch the oystermen harvest oysters from hotel bar in the morning and watch the uninformed pleasure boater run aground on hotel bar in the afternoon.

The view from the back deck is often that of a coastal aviary, showing the protected canal with floating dock. Pelicans, King Fishers, Skimmers, Seagulls and Great Blue Heron enjoy the canal as a great lunch spot. Keep your boat in the water and ready to go on the early morning fishing expedition or on a sunset cruise on a whim.

And, there's always a breeze under the house if you prefer to enjoy Blue Moon's outdoor hot and cold shower, downstairs lounging area equipped with table and chairs and hammock, park grill and dog pen.

The entire St. George Island and Apalachicola area is attuned to island time relaxation. Walk to the beach, bike ride on the bay roads, kayak the bayside canals, visit the St. George Island State Park, enjoy fresh seafood at one of many good restaurants or home cooked in Blue Moon's graciously equipped kitchen. If you feel like an outing, cross the bridge to Apalach for shopping and art.

Notes:
A very comfortable interior includes a big kitchen which adjoins the great room, ceiling fans and double hung windows that allow you to enjoy the bay breezes. Even so, you will likely spend some of your time on the huge front porch or back deck which can provide hours of entertainment watching boaters, birds and fish jumping. The floating dock on the protected canel, fish cleaning station, 50lb ice machine, surround sound stereo, covered porch overlooking bay, and sun deck overlooking canal are all sure to make your stay at Blue Moon an enjoyable experience.

Relaxating on Island time

Everything was amazing. The view from the back porch of the canal and the view from the front porch of the bay was incredible. It was so quiet and relaxing, even tho you're only a mile from things to do. The house was clean and fully stocked. Although we brought some things from home we found everything we needed there. It was definitely well worth the money, and hope to return in the future.

The perfect getaway for an active family

While I thought I would prefer a beach side house this bayside house offered so much more than the typical gulf side spots. Located on a canal we had a dock for kayaking, crabbing and fishing at our own house. We could watch the boys fishing while we prepared dinner. We had more fishing just across the street in the bay. The bayside properties also afforded so much more privacy and the road was travelled only by residents and renters. Beach access was a short bike ride away. The owner thoughtfully provides two bikes. We brought five more bikes. We felt completely at ease leaving out overnight all the bikes and expensive fishing gear in the sheltered car port. No one bothers your things on the island.

The home is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The AC is amazing, hot water for showering is great and plentiful. The kitchen is well stocked and the washer/dryer are superb. We had ample room to park 4-5 vehicles as family came and went during the week. The front deck has two large dining tables to seat at least 10-12 comfortably.

We especially loved the views of the bay on the front covered porch. Watching the afternoon storms roll in was incredible. There is a back sun porch overlooking the canal.

In all it is a wonderful place to gather the family. Thank you Jan!
