LOVELY, NEW ALBERTA ARTS APARTMENT

About

I'm a third generation Portland resident who dragged my husband out here from New Jersey 22 years ago. Our daughter is off at University of Oregon and we are still living in the same 100+ year-old house we bought in 1996, slowly but surely renovating it (the apartment is much fancier than the rest of the house!) My husband is an architect who can also build stuff, so he did most of the apartment himself. I'm a former longtime morning radio host, currently a copywriter for Bed Bath & Beyond, as well as a benefit auctioneer. I did locations for "Portlandia" for several seasons so I know my way around the crazy nooks and crannies of this city. We are very connected to our neighbors and our neighborhood, and have tons of suggestions for what to do around town, but generally we give you lots of space and privacy, only popping up when needed. Between the two of us we have lived in Manhattan, Brooklyn, DC, Paris, Dublin and LA, so we are always glad to have guests from those places.

Why chose Alberta Arts District

We bought this house in 1996 and have been fixing it up ever since. We decided to turn the basement into an apartment after renting out our house for a few months and having a great experience. We've watched this neighborhood grow into a truly vibrant and inclusive place with so many independent businesses, and we've raised our daughter here, which has been fantastic. It's exactly the kind of neighborhood we hoped it would turn into when we bought our place here so many years ago.

This neighborhood is SO friendly! And it's so nice to live in a place where you can find so much within a walking distance. Within a 5 block radius of here you can find Thai, Mexican, Iraqi, Spanish, Irish, Vietnamese, Japanese, Italian, French, Vegan, and American food. Plus interesting shops and delicious coffee!
