Perfect for 1 or 2 couples! Ocean front with yard and beach access

Reef House Puako is a true old Hawaii getaway right on the blue Pacific Ocean. Snorkel with sea turtles from the sand and lava beach, explore tide pools, lounge in hammocks under the palms, watch for a green flash sunset, or just hang out at the two blue cottages with ocean and Maui views from almost every window. This will be a place you'll never want to leave.

In a grove of nine coconut palms, below spreading kamani and beach heliotrope, the original 1 bedroom/1 bathroom cottage accommodates a family of four (two adults, and 2 small children). The children would sleep on small 'punees' in the living area. Both the suite and cottage have private outdoor showers but no indoor showers or bathtubs.

This delightful, redwood-paneled beach house has Hawaiian and Asian art, a well-equipped kitchen, garden shower, dining area with an antique curly koa table seating, and sweeping ocean and Maui views from almost every window. The entire downstairs of the separate second cottage is a master suite, with bathroom and garden shower, for a second couple in your family. The suite is NEVER rented to another party during your stay. A private owner's apartment is upstairs but is rarely occupied.

Everything was amazing. You guys have it nailed. It is hard to say what we liked best about the house because everything is great but location is outstanding and the outdoor shower is awesome.

A dreamy beach bungalow in the perfect location.

Property was beautiful, and all of the amenities we could have asked for were there. Comfy bed, fun outdoor shower, beach chairs, boogey boards, beach towels, washing machine and dryer, laundry detergent...the list goes on and on. All you need to bring is yourself. If you're looking to stay in a quaint beach bungalow with all the amenities and a great location, this is the place to be. Also, Mary Fox (property manager) was awesome - top notch and really adds to the overall experience.

Great stay

I had the best stay ever in Puako. The house was equipped with everything we needed for a great stay, including the full kitchen, beach towels and beach chairs. We love the older, original homes of the neighborhood rather than big glitzy, modern, new homes, so 2 Papayas, our rental manager, keyed in on that to find the perfect home for us. Almost every morning and every evening, just prior to sunset, the turtles basked on the rocks in front of the house. We were informed that they are endangered so kept a respectful distance but watching these amazing creatures was a real treat for this Midwestern family. The property manager was available to check us in, answer our questions and even help right away when we had trouble with the internet.

Fabulous house and location... our girls loved it!

The location of this house - in laid back Puako - is perfect. Right next to a marine preserve, we spent many hours looking through the tide pools for turtles, fish, sea urchins, hermit crabs, and watching whales go by in the distance. And the feel of the house - an old style Hawaiian house - is a nice change from the typical island condo. The house had everything you could need, including beach towels, chairs, sand toys, masks, snorkels, etc. It is also conveniently close to lots of places to eat if you don't feel like cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The staff at 2Papayas were wonderful and left lots of information on the local area - the farmer's market in Waimea was one of our favorites. And if you couldn't find something in the general store down the road, you probably don't need it. We would love to come back!

Beautiful location right on the water!

This house was perfect for a tropical getaway. The ocean is only about 30 feet away and the backyard has wide views up the Kohala coast and across to Maui. There is not immediate beach access because of the lava rocks, so it is best to have a car for a very short drive to swimming beaches (you can walk, but if you want to bring snorkel equipment or beach chairs, it's best to drive). The house is very well furnished with anything you might need, making it feel like home. And, the staff at 2 Papayas are very helpful.

Great spot

This was our 12 the visit n 4th property in Puako n 1st to the reef house.

We love Puako as it has feel of tranquility n remoteness but convenient to every need

The Reef house is well appointed and we lacked for nothing. Spacious and not a worn rental at all

Ocean front rental. Private with incredible views.

Easy, easy, easy....quiet, peaceful on water. Owner's home is on property (not on water) and separate structure away from oceanfront rental. Owner only there for a few days during two week stay but treated me like it was my home instead of hers. Outdoor shower was incredible. Wish my home in California was suited for immediate install. Accommodations provided are all you need. Large living/dining open room with room to spread out. Parking spacious and off street, coin laundry with coins supply provided, barbecue, picnic table, and hammock for outside nap. Best reef on the island is out your back door for snorkeling and tide pools. World class golf, choice of resorts for dining 10 minutes away but why leave? Lots of windows for view of ocean and open air. Sunsets can't be missed each evening. Will return as soon as I can.

Rate varies $325-$440 @ night based on the number of guests. Standard rate is cottage only w/ 2 adults. If you will only need the cottage and have 2 adults and 2 kids under 12 the nightly rate is $355. The nightly rate for the cottage and additional suite is $440 for a maximum of 4 adults and 2 kids. Please call/email manager directly for an exact quote for your group. We are a local, professional, real estate company licensed in the State of Hawaii, managing the home on behalf of the owners.

1/4th rent is due within two weeks of booking and is non-refundable unless we can rebook the dates to another party. The balance of rent, taxes, cleaning fee and refundable security deposit are due 60 days prior to your arrival. With the exception of the security deposit and cleaning fee, this payment is non-refundable in the event of cancellation unless we can rebook the dates to another party. We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. If you wish to purchase travel insurance go to Due to increasing credit card fees, we are not accepting credit cards for payment.
