About Rob and Dawn Bailes
I am a retired elementary school teacher. My husband, Rob, is a residential contractor. He built Fernwood and Evergreen several years ago. We enjoy maintaining our cabins in a way that meets our own high standards! Dawn Bailes
Why Rob and Dawn Bailes chose Townsend
You will love Fernwood and Evergreen because they are convenient to the heart of Townsend yet they are secluded. They are also really clean and well stocked! Plus...we live close by and are on call for any issue that may arise.
What makes this Cabin unique
The road to our cabins is beautiful! It looks like you are traveling through parts of Cades Cove. But, they are only 7 tenths of a mile down the way....a great way to experience Townsend!

Great cabin located well off the beaten track.
Inside, this cabin is very charming with a real fireplace and loft overlooking the living room. There are two private bedrooms, plus a full bed in the loft (where we decided to sleep). There is a full jetted tub in the lower bedroom, and the hot water heater had no trouble filling the tub (unlike other cabins we've stayed in). We stayed in winter, and the furnace easily kept the cabin toasty warm and cozy. There is Wi-Fi and the access code is posted, which was a nice surprise (I didn't see the Wi-Fi mentioned in the property description). We arrived after dark, and admittedly the road is a little scary at night. There are no stores nearby, so bring what you need with you. But otherwise it was a pleasant experience and would definitely return!
We are very happy that you had a pleasant experience in Fernwood. Thank you for taking time to write a review! There are no street lights on Lawson Road so I'm sure a dark unfamiliar road late at night in the mountains might be a new experience for our visitors! .....especially if you are from a flatter terrain. There is a convenience store about 5 minutes up the road so a quick trip to restock groceries is not out of the question :) Thank you again and we hope you will return soon!
Great four days
Everything was great. The house was clean, the bed comfortable, enjoyed the solitude
Awesome! Thank you so much for taking time to give us such great feedback. We hope you'll return soon!
Already booked for 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fernwood. The location was perfect as we prefer the quiet side of the National Park. The decor was very nice. The kitchen was well-equipped and loved the ice maker. The beds were comfortable, although new sheets would be a plus. The current ones have worn out elastic on the corners which causes the fitted sheets not to stay on. Other than that we were so pleased that we have already booked again for October 2018!
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay!!! We’ve already purchased new sheets! Thank you for your feedback. We look forward to your return!!!
Peaceful, quiet, and relaxing
Cabin was very convenient to stores, museums, caverns, and of course the Cades Cove area in the national park. Cabin was well stocked with kitchen items, making it very easy to stay in and have a home cooked meal instead of having to go out for every meal as compared to when staying in a hotel. Staying in a cabin was a whole lot more relaxing than staying in a hotel.
If you compare the cost of the hotel and having to go out for meals, to the cost of the cabin where you can buy / bring groceries, the cabin is a lot more economical especially if you have a larger family.
We definitely would enjoy staying again when we return to Tennessee.
Very clean and beautiful
We loved this cabin! Very clean and beautiful! Cannot wait to come back!
Thank you for this awesome review! We'll leave the light on for ya! :)
We are extremely grateful to have had the chance to stay at Fernwood. I asked the family the best parts of the vacation, and all of us agreed "the cabin." It was very welled stocked and clean, great location, comfortable beds, loved both the front and back porches, and great rental price. Perfect for relaxing after a busy day. Just can't say enough wonderful things!
This review made my day! Thank you so much for your kind words! What great motivation to keep working hard at making Fernwood the best it can be. We hope to see you again soon! Blessings.....
