Magic! This breathes the 'Pensions Cleofe'! The apartment is on the second floor of a building of 1680 (with no lift!). Upon entering one is kidnapped by the breathtaking view: the stained glass window in the kitchen overlooking the mouths of Bonifacio, overlooking the sea, the falaises left and Sardinia with Santa Teresa in front. Seagulls fly always to keep company. The kitchen is well equipped, dishes Vietri are colorful, each ornament has its own history. The master bedroom also faces the sea, with the ability to isolate through a shutter inside. The other bedroom overlooks an inside lane, full of shops, bistros, restaurants, tourists and villagers walking. The double glazing perfectly isolate from their buzz! The bathroom is in style with the sea shells and starfish.

My husband and I had a really lovely stay in this traditional, quaint two bed-roomed apartment, in the beautiful town of Bonifacio. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. With plenty of cutlery crockery and glasses as well as a dishwasher and large fridge. Coffee maker etc. The view was superb and we would bring our supplies back for lunch and breakfast on the little terrace or from the large wooden table in the kitchen/sitting area. With sea views from both, white coastal cliff views from the terrace. At night we could see the lights twinkling on Sardinia, and lucky to have a full moon shining on the water too. Our September stay meant perfect weather, and even though some days a little warm we would open windows in the second bedroom (on street side....also an interesting view) to let the cross breeze through to the terrace. There were so many interesting items decorating the apartment we were instantly immersed in another culture.
The beds were comfortable and the bathroom adequate and everything was very clean which would be difficult in such an old apartment.
You are in the heart of the old town and we felt very special just stepping straight out into the bustling street like a local! We had no issue with noise as restaurants were closing when we went to bed and I would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone as long as you don't expect brand new modern apartment but rather something more classical.
The only negative we found was that it was on the top floor with lots of steps with our luggage it made for a strenuous arrival (we were traveling for wedding as well as trip of 5 weeks). And the steps are extra large! So it was a workout every day which we wouldn't normally mind except we were also unwell. So I would recommend for the hale and hearty only.
We did as suggested and dropped luggage at end of street (you can't drive in) so kind of had to park illegally, get key from neighbour, and then move car to a parking lot about 10 mins walk away. Parking is always an issue in old towns and this is a very popular destination for both day trippers and longer term visitors alike. Would suggest arriving later in the day when it's quieter.
(PS you are expected to remove your recycling and garbage yourself which would have been good to know in the beginning so we wouldn't have so many trips to the collection point on checking out!)
Thank you Andrea for your review: is really very important for me to read and discover what my guests appreciate..and what I can improve and make better.
I know the stairs are strong and high, but our building is very old, and I'm sure you have seen that all high Bonifacio has incredible steep stairs: when I'm there, it is the only way to dispose of salami and cheeses of which I am greedy!
You are right: maybe I should put a sign to specify that the trash should be disposed of on its own. I was sure it was in the rental rules imposed by Homeaway / VRBO, along with leaving the sink without dishes etc ...
Happy you enjoyed your stay..and that you appreciate the unique view from the terrace: I think it's the most important gift of that house!
Hope to host you again in the future,
Week in Bonifacio
Great apartment, great location, great people. Looking forward to the next visit.
Thank you so much for your review. Happy you appreciate the apartment..and the special energy that Bonifacio donate!
Really hope to host you in the future!
Terrible check in experience
The check in experience was horrible. The lady who had the key yelled at me for about 30 minutes until I started to cry. I don't think this place was worth that experience for me.
I'm so sorry that your only remark is about the check in experience. Actually, with a plane landing at 9:30 pm, the lady who deliver the keys was surprised (and also worried...)not having your news till 1:00 am.
Evidently is an apartment, not a hotel with 24 h reception. She tried to call you many times but the phone number you entered with your reservation where not working.
Unfortunately this does not justify the bad conditions of dirty in which you left the apartment.
I sincerely hope that, beyond the bad experience of your check in, in the rest of the stay you have appreciate the apartment and Bonifacio in all its wonder...
Absolutely loved it - would stay again - tricky stairs though- not ideal for small children or people with mobility issues. But the view and location cannot be beat!
Grazie!
