Secluded 3bd/2 bath cabin in 3 acre wooded lot
My family lives in Lexington, KY. We have 1 child. I am involved in real estate and the bourbon industry and my wife is a banker.
Sam purchased this House in 2007
Why Sam chose La Grange
This is a beautiful property. I lived here about 10 years ago and loved it. We have owned it since. We renovated it in 2018 specifically to make it an vacation rental so others would enjoy it. Is is along the bike bath of the Ironman, which I did in 2006. Actually I met the owner when I was training for the Ironman. This is a great location to stay if you are coming to town to train for IM Louisville. There is a big parking lot in the back and it is a great place to wind down.

The owners of this property clearly put their money into the main floor of the home. The wood is beautiful, and they maximized the space in the home creatively. I thought we were going to have a wonderful stay until we discovered some issues with the noisy air conditioner in the “bedroom” downstairs, the rodent issue in the bedroom upstairs, which I was disappointed to learn that they knew about and still charged us full listing price and didn’t notify us of the problem. The kitchen was acceptably appointed, and I was pleased to find a brand new refrigerator there, even though all of its tape and paperwork was still inside (and there was a large cardboard box left on the rear porch, which might have belonged to it). The exterior of the property needs work. Don’t stay here with children. I really hope these issues are handled soon because this cabin is unique and beautiful and definitely has potential.
Pleased with our stay
Really enjoyed the old cabin feel, the kitchen was updated and very nice. Really liked the chairs on the front porch, very relaxing way to sit and enjoy the morning,. Plenty of interior lights, well lit. The beds slept great and were very comfortable, however the pillows were kind of thin. They did stock a lot of paper towels but were a little short on toilet paper. There were no bugs or ants on the interior.
Items that needed improvement included the yard needed mowed and the tree limb over the driveway needed cut.
Noticed there were no curtains on the windows and the cabin appeared to be in a state of remodel. Which was good because it appeared the owner is progressing nicely.
It would have been great to have a propane grill available and also a fire pit would have been nice. While sitting on the porch traffic noise was noticeable on the road close to the cabin. Overall once we became adjusted we enjoyed our stay. Just bear in mind this is a cabin not a large home that has everything available. Take it for what it is and enjoy your stay..
