Nestled in the heart of historic Kitsilano on quiet tree-lined West 6th Avenue, you will find the heritage property of Kitsilano Suites designed in the Arts and Crafts style. Our character house offers fully furnished suites that provide our guests with comfortable self-contained accommodations, finished to exacting standards to ensure a comfortable stay with all the amenities of a home away from home.

Built in 1912 and converted into veterans housing in 1946, the building has been recently renovated and restored to its original splendor with the addition of modern luxury conveniences.

Suite 101 is a one bedroom suite providing 780 square feet of comfortable self contained living space. This suite features hardwood floors and stained glass windows throughout, with leather couches, antique and contemporary furniture and tasteful art and decorations.

The living room offers a 3 piece couch set, flat screen digital TV, Teac stereo system and a dining table for 4 people. The kitchen is complete with custom cabinets, granite counter tops, new appliances including in-suite Washer/Dryer and fully equipped with chef quality amenities. The large bright bedroom has a Stearns and Foster queen size mattress, Arts and Crafts bedroom dressers, bay window seating and a flat screen digital TV. There is a full bathroom with granite counter top vanity and claw foot bathtub and shower.

Located on the first floor of the house, suite 101 is a one bedroom apartment that has access to a front porch area that looks over the quiet tree lined street of West 6th Avenue and the character heritage homes of this wonderful Kitsilano neighborhood. The porch features colorful flower boxes and a table and chairs for your use and enjoyment. Everything in this suite has been completely restored and upgraded to provide a balance of modern convenience and timeless heritage living.

The living room features a large bay window with the original 1912 hardwood floors, stained glass windows and wood burning fireplace. Furniture includes new leather couches, antique writing desk and select pieces of antique and contemporary furniture. With modern conveniences such as a 32 inch flat screen digital color TV, DVD/IPOD/AM/FM stereo system and private telephone/answering service. There is a selection of fine art, decorations and Indian carpets for added enjoyment and comfort.

The kitchen features custom fir wood cabinets, black granite counter tops, and new appliances including electric stove, exterior vented range hood, full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and in-suite Washer/Dryer. Accessories include a toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, stainless steel pots & pans, quality dishware, a wide assortment of cups, glasses & stem ware, stainless cutlery and a full selection of kitchen tools & chef knives. Mixing bowls, plastic storage containers, cutting boards and serving bowls & plates are included for those who want to entertain or enjoy extended stays.

The separate bedroom is large and bright with the original ceiling mouldings and bay window seating area with its three opening windows. Featuring a Historic Hotels Stearns & Foster queen size sleep set with wrought iron bed frame. Bedding includes 400 thread count white cotton bed linens, both feather down and polyester duvet comforters and a selection of down and quallofil pillows. Arts & Crafts style dressers with a large bedroom closet and a hall closet provide extensive storage for all types & amounts of clothes. Modern conveniences include an 18 inch flat screen LCD TV/DVD player, alarm clock and thermostat controlled heating for added comfort and convenience.

The bathroom features the original large claw foot bath tub perfect for soaking and relaxing away the day’s stresses. The bath tub has been refinished and includes brand new chrome heritage tap & shower fixtures imported from Italy. There is a custom made vanity with granite counter top and porcelain sink.

I have lived in Vancouver for most of my life. I enjoyed working in construction & real estate development when I was younger and it was always my dream to own a heritage property in Kitsilano. My career moved into the international travel industry and I now work with some of the finest hotel brands around the world. In 2000 I was able to combine my passions and bought a fine old heritage home in Kitsilano. I finally completed the restoration and then furnished the suites to 5 star hotel quality standards. We now offer fine accommodation to those people looking for a wonderful place to stay during their time in Vancouver.

Kitsilano Suites - Great Stay !

Coming back from Pacific Shores Resort in Parksville on Vancouver Island we stayed over for five wonderful nights at Mark's place in Kitsilano before retuning to our home in Olympia, WA.

We are accustomed to upscale places and have become spoiled with the extra pampering that they frequently provide. However, we were unprepared for the gentle touch of hospitality and fine feel for artistic balance in interior design that Mark has accomplished in the Kitsilano Suites. Every detail, from the knives in the kitchen and the other appliances - both large and small, the granite counter tops and excellent custom built cabinetry in the kitchen, to the 1920's tile floor and the Ferrari-like exhaust fan in the bathroom, to the cove molding with matching ceiling beams in the bedroom along with exceptionally fine linen and a very comfortable bed, to the wall hangings, sofa and easy chairs in the living room, and beautiful stain glass window inserts throughout the apartment, to the well designed and well kept landscaped yard front and back.

These are but a few of the many many exceptionally well designed and executed features we enjoyed. At every turn of the kaleidoscope, Mark was there to unobtrusively assist with whatever was needed (WI-FI connectivity and HTMI from computer to TV monitor for photo viewing, and some instruction for the low energy washer were about the only things we needed) - his housekeeper, Carly, stopped cleaning when we arrived and helped us carry our bags up from the car into the suite - this was a very incredible level of excellence for some very hip and well seasoned world travelers.

It is pure joy to travel when our accommodations are so very comfortable, clean and welcoming. All the very best, Stanley & Patrisa
