Water Winds is our vacation home. It has beautiful views of the Albemarle Sound.
About Beth Younger
My husband and I undertook the journey of owning a vacation home this year. He is a retired Fire Captain and I am a retired RN. We love horses and the water. Our second careers are teaching horseback riding in the Sandhills of North Carolina. We discovered the Inner Banks after my father bought his vacation home at Albemarle Sound. We would love for you to come and enjoy what we have found here and in the quaint shops and historic areas of Edenton and Hertford.
Beth Younger purchased this House in 2018
Why Beth Younger chose Hertford
This home has one of the best views of Albemarle Sound at Holiday Island. We purchased it after it had been ravaged by multiple storms and needed a lot of TLC. The headboard in 2 of the bedrooms are salvaged wood from some of the storms. We love to reuse and re-purpose things. The stairs going down to the basement had no banister and no protection from falling right down the stairs. We used old tobacco barn poles and old doors from a torn down depression house to make it safe. We used drift wood for the railing. We have worked very hard so that each thing we have done means something to us, a memory of hard work or good times with family. The dining room table was made by my father in law from wood that came from his farm. Everything has a story.
What makes this House unique
We love looking at the water. We feel tranquil and more at peace. There was a fantastic Thunderstorm last month with a lightening show that went on for an hour that we watched from the great room windows. In summer we have the doors open at night and listen to the waves breaking against the bulkhead or sit out on the dock looking at the stars. Water Winds is a quiet place. The only noise you will hear are the birds and the fish jumping and an occasional boat going by.

Well Stocked and Spectacularly Expansive Water View
The view from inside this home can't be beat. The walls of windows make it feel like you are one with the water. The home was well stocked with everything you'd need. Great flow and inviting decor add to the enjoyment of the space. Outside on the boat dock we enjoyed watching an Osprey (Fish Eagle) start to build its nest. You feel rural yet it only took us 15 minutes to get to Hertford for some fresh seafood and groceries. Historic Edenton was a short distance as well. It was a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. We feel the same way about the water. Thank you so much for the beautiful way you left our home. Come back anytime!
Short trip for my wife's birthday. This house is terrific! Great views, great amenities and amazing kitchen. The weather was pretty sketchy but we still managed to catch a few fish. Cant wait to try again in the summer!
So glad you had a good time. We are awestruck when the storms come across the Sound. We appreciate the way our home was left, everything neat and tidy and you are absolutely welcome back anytime.
Great weekend getaway!
Beth's property is in a very calm, quiet, neighborhood. I loved the relaxing effect of seeing water from almost everywhere in the home. The home is very well kept and clean (if it weren't for the pet owner amenities Beth has in the home then you would never guess it was a pet friendly rental and I really appreciate that)! There is lots of room for spending time together and having personal space. I didn't get to try out all of the extra fun amenities the home has to offer but maybe next time. I found Beth to be a very considerate host and my family appreciated the thoughtful little extras she left for us. There is also an amazing movie collection that I'm sure would be great for longer stays. We're already looking forward to going back...
We're so glad you had a good time and appreciate the great review. Looking forward to hosting you again in May. The Water will be great to get in then. Kayaking and paddle boarding are a great way to explore the Sound. Take care. Beth
Thank you Beth for my family's wonderful stay at Water Winds. Your home and the furnishings that you provided were fantastic.
Our reason for coming to Water Winds was mine and my brother's plan to celebrate our parents 37th wedding anniversary.
Mom and dad loved it!!! They said the views of the sound and sun sets were breath-taking. Not only that, the accommodations were the best. Beth's personal touches within the home made you feel comfortable and relaxed. The kitchen was very spacious and well furnished. Definitely a Chef's Kitchen. Each bedroom had it's own special touches making one really feel at home. Did not want to leave!
We enjoyed playing pool and ping- pong. Dad always won. We also enjoyed just relaxing and watching some of the many movies that were provided. Can't forget watching the Battle of the Blues ( Carolina vs. Duke ACC tournament) Friday night. There was never a dull moment. Always something to do. Fishing was our favorite, even though we had no luck.
We all agree, No complaints, just a great great weekend.
So glad you all enjoyed your time with family at Water Winds. That is how we feel every time we go. Thank you for respecting our home. You were fantastic guests. Come again anytime.
Nice Property, was very beautiful! There was a lot to do my friends and I had a lot of fun. Be careful arriving the GPS will try to take you down a backroad where there is a ditch in the road about 1 minute away from the property. It was covered in water when we were driving there, I ended up busting my radiator driving into it. Further down the road, there are paved roads to the property!
Zachary, I'm so sorry that happened. We cannot control the directions on the various mapping services. However we do have driving directions in our hospitality guide that mentions this might happen and that there are several alternatives that are better. The guide has all kinds of useful information that would be good to review. We knew we were taking a chance with college age young adults on springbreak but you assured us that you and your friends would be responsible guests. Unfortunately that was not the case with damage and cleanup that was not acceptable.
Beautiful, comfortable, well cared for home with breath taking views of the water!
We had a wonderful weekend away at the Water Winds. The home is beautifully kept and we immediately felt at home! Waking up to a gorgeous view of the sound each morning was a great way to start the day. A warm thank you for all the attention to details and comforts that were provided. We cannot say enough about how relaxing and enjoyable our stay was. We look forward to a return visit!
Jason, thank you for the wonderful review. We were so glad to host you and appreciate the way you left our home. It was spotless. Come back anytime.
