Another Great Mountain Vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home! We especially enjoyed the deck and the fantastic view. Our last night as we conversed outside on the rockers, a beautiful rainbow appeared. This was the perfect ending to another mountain vacation. The beds, bedding, and towels were top of the line. We loved our visits to the Smoky Mountain Park and drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Make sure to see Soco Falls and Waterrock Knob, both spectacular and within a short drive from the house. We enjoyed the Wheels through Time Museum and Elevated Mountain Distillery in Maggie Valley. Angelos and the Sweet Onion were both very good restaurants in Waynesville. The trolley ride in Asheville was well worth the time. The kitchen was well equipped as we prepared at least one meal everyday.

The experience from start to finish was incredible! Don was so nice and very hospitable! The drive up is bumpy so make sure to rent an SUV but it's worth the ride! Thank you Don!!!

Mountain paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, our hosts/owners were very friendly, helpful and a pleasure to work with...they always responded quickly and were extremely patient in helping us find our way up the mountain our first time up! Don stayed on the phone with us and "guided" us all the way up. It is quite a trek up the mountain the first couple of times but it got easier each time and by the end of our stay we were pros at maneuvering the trail! The home is gorgeous and the views were among the most beautiful we have ever seen. We really enjoyed our time on the deck, cooking out, etc. The beds were extra-comfy, the kitchen was fabulous, and the water pressure was very good. The location was close to Waynesville (about 25 min.), I-40 (about 15 min.), GSMNP and the elk preserve (about 25 min.), and the Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby, also. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning in the future. The only thing we would have changed would be to have a TV in the "gathering" area on the main floor...it would have been nice to cozy up by the fireplace and watch some movies, etc. Thank you once again, Don and Kathryn, for your wonderful hospitality!

Great spot for a fall getaway from the heat of FL

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for what we were seeking. Kids and grandkids came and went with plenty of room. The view from the numerous decks was absolutely spectacular. Inside the 3 MBs are huge, kitchen well equipped and the stone fireplace was huge and held great fires. Waynesville and the surrounding area had plenty to do including some very good restaurants. The drive up the mountain to the house is a little daunting the first time but as the guy who delivered the crib said, "it's easy compared to some I have to drive". We will certainly try to get back.

Mountain dream escape

  • 5 of 5

We recently visited Elk View with 3 other couples. The verdict was unanimous; we all agreed we'd love to go back! The house was absolutely beautiful, immaculate with a state of the art kitchen including everything one would possibly need to prepare an upscale meal, beautiful bedrooms with very comfortable beds, AMAZING decks for viewing GOD'S CREATION and just a WONDERFUL setting in which to refuel, replenish the spirit and celebrate friendship!!! Each time I spoke with owner Don I felt we were old friends:). We all gave this property "super stars," WELL worth the "climb" to get there!!!!

Absolutely a great view of the smokey mountains!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for the entire week and didn't want to leave. Once we got up to the house, the view was amazing, getting up every morning and seeing the wonderful view with a cup of coffee on the deck made you feel like you just were in another dream world. We visited the surrounding area, Waynesville is a great little town, it had great restaurants, great artwork, and we even saw the elk , both the bull and female were out when we visited. Great experience!!! We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, being able to lay back and red, cook, eat, and enjoy family, take daily walks with the dogs and kids. even "smelled" what we thought we some bear "leftovers" along the way, at least my dog thought so???? We will be coming back, that ids for sure... Can't get enough of a place like this... Just don't want to let too much of a good thing out so everyone catches on to how great it was...
