Thanks for your review. We are glad to hear you loved it and we truly hope you will stay with us again in the future.
Property is secluded in the woods, while being a very short drive to Blowing Rock and downtown Boone. We had a great experience at this house.
Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you had a good experience at this home and we hope you will visit us again soon.
Great location and quiet setting
Great location and quiet setting. The house was pleasant but the cleanliness left much to be desired. Cobwebs in windows and very dusty. Lots of bugs in the house. Cleaning needs to be addressed. We appreciate it being dog friendly however our dog located a pint of melting ice cream in the yard shortly after we arrived. Not sure how that got there. But the house is quaint otherwise.
Thank you for staying with us. We are sorry to hear that this home was not as clean as it should have been. We have passed this along to housekeeping to improve on for future rentals. We hope you will rent with us again.
Secluded mountain home
Secretariat's Secret was a good place for our long weekend stay! It's in a gated community, which is quiet to begin with, and this house is situated farther from the road than other houses in this neighborhood. We liked that the house feels remote, out in the woods, but is only about 10 minutes from most of the stuff we wanted to see in Boone. The neighborhood itself is nice and good for walking around as long as you don't mind walking up some pretty steep hills, which we did not.
The house is beautiful inside. We appreciated all the wooden details and live-edge (or similar) features, like the counter in the bedroom and the gorgeous set of front stairs. We also liked that the house felt lived-in—the decorations were pleasingly eclectic to us. The piano – a fairly new-looking Boston upright – is a nice touch, though if you play, you may hope as I did that the piano had been more recently tuned. It wasn't in bad shape but did need tuning.
In addition to the hot tub and grill, there was a fire pit outside this house... we didn't get the chance to use it but did appreciate that it was there.
The hot tub was in good shape and we enjoyed using it during our stay. Most else in the house was in good shape and worked well for our stay... I'm not sure how well the air conditioning worked, though the house wasn't too hot during our stay. Still, the AC was set at 72 degrees while we were there but the house would stay at about 77 to 78 degrees during the day, and we made sure to keep all windows and doors closed with the AC running.
Also, we weren't sure about the, uh, towel situation: none of the bathrooms had hand towels in them when we arrived, and we didn't have enough properly-sized towels in the bedrooms to put to use there, especially so after we cooked a few meals in the kitchen (which was well-supplied!)
We consider those minor complaints—we were fine to improvise. Overall this is a great place to stay in a great area—good choice for a long weekend.
Thank you for your review. We are glad you all enjoyed this home and the amenities it offered. We are so sorry to hear about the towels and the A/C and have passed this along to maintenance and housekeeping. We hope you will rent with us again!
