This lovely studio on the beach offers great views of the water. Enjoy quiet walks along the beach to some of the Caribbean's finest dining experiences. Grand Case, on the tranquil French side of St. Martin, is a peaceful fishing village that has become known as the Gourmet Capital of the Caribbean. One can find grocery stores, internet access, car rental, pharmacy and many other amenities. All you'll need for the perfect vacation without the noisy trappings of a full scale resort is available in Grand Case. There are also some great little shops along the main road in town.
During high and mid season you can enjoy Grand Case Tuesday, an annual event that closes the main street each tuesday evening and invites craftsmen and merchants from all parts of the island to display their wares. If a night on the town is on the agenda, Phillipsburg and Maho on the Dutch side of the island are a short drive from Grand Case. There you can find the island's casinos and nightclubs.
If you're looking for a great place for a quiet, often romantic stay with the sights and sounds of the sea, you'll love this little studio. We know once you've experienced this lovely little hideaway on the beach, you'll return again and again as so many others have over the years.

We just spent 12 nights in this beautiful spot. Grand Case is a pretty little village. The village center is a 10 minute walk from the apt., the bakery, grocery store and rum shop merely a 5 minute walk. If you prefer, you can walk the beach all the way into the village. The beach is not real wide, but is not crowded either. And, you can walk to the beach at Happy Bay just 15 minutes away. That's the place to go if you prefer au natural. Octopus Diving in Grand Case, also an easy walk, was a great little dive shop that we used for snorkeling and diving
We rented a car for the last 3 days there and explored a bit more of the island. Orient Beach is very active, Friar's Bay has a couple bar/restaurants but is certainly less busy and active. Marigot is a pretty little town and has a very nice market, and marina surrounded by restaurants, but no in-town beach.
We used the bus to get to Marigot ($1.50) and back to the airport to pick up our car rental ($3.00 and a bus switch). These are easy to use, but would be difficult to do if wheeling a suitcase (which we didn't). If you're looking for a quite, relaxing stay w/o a lot of sightseeing it's easy to do here without needing a car.
But the true high point of our stay was the apt. itself. When not sleeping or outside we spent every minute in the apt. either cooking or sitting on the patio. The patio literally bumps up to the beach, sitting about 5 feet above the sand. No railing to block your view. We had looked at a number of other spots, and visited some of them while there, and none compare to this one. The layout of the apt. allows one to be sleeping in a/c with the drapes pulled shut while someone else is in the kitchen or sitting on the patio. Perfect for those who don't all awake at the same time.
If we go back to St. Martin there is no doubt this is the place to stay. Kristen was great dealing with before we got there, and Anna (the local caretaker) is wonderful.
This condo is very well situated in Grand Case, directly on the beach, with a view that you can't help but look at as you enjoy sitting on the patio. My husband and I spent every morning and night here, listening to soft jazz and sipping our wine. The location is ideal if you plan to spend a lot of time dining at any of the fantastic restaurants in town. We were also fortunate to enjoy Mardi Gras on Tuesday night in town, which is a great sight to see!
We did rent a car from the nearby Econo Cars, which was very convenient. Beware that many roads are narrow and there is quite a bit of traffic. Parking is limited, but we always managed to find a spot with little difficulty. Having a car is essential if you plan on exploring all that the island has to offer. Some highlights that I recommend are a visit to the Loterie Farm, the Butterfly Farm and a short ferry trip to Pinel Island.
I think it's important to note that a couple of details were overlooked, specifically: the street address given to us by the owner was incorrect and the name of the condo complex was not provided ahead of time (which resulted in a very aggravated taxi driver and several stressful moments at the start of our vacation) and there was an undesirable odor in the kitchen area that may have been from a pet being in the unit previously (although it dissipated when the patio door was open).
On a final positive note, the property manager (Anna) was prompt, friendly and very helpful. And, when it was important to reach the owner for clarification about the unit number/location, she was very responsive, which we greatly appreciated.
We spent 7 Days in this condo and we enjoyed every moment. Best terrace with a fantastic view! We also fell in love with Grand Case, great restaurants, bath and friendly!
We spent 9 days at this very quaint condo and LOVED it! It is small, still has everything that you need and the best terrace with beach/ocean view. Grand Case is fabulous. A multitude of great restaurants and shops within walking distance. The beach was very nice and very quiet, which I prefer over a beach packed with chairs and people. We did rent a car, so we were able to get all around the island to visit different beaches and shop. Driving on the island is a little difficult at times and there is a lot of congestion on the narrow roads, but once you get used to it, it's not so bad and I am glad that we had the car so that we could easily visit other parts of the island. We also took the ferry over to Angulla one day and went to Shoal Bay which was beautiful and had the most powder-like sand that I have ever stepped on. Anna, the property manager, was great and we really enjoyed our times chatting with her. She is more than happy to give you suggestions about where to eat or the best beaches etc. We like to travel to new places, still we will definitely return to Grand Case!
My husband and I spent a fabulous week at this lovely beachfront property. The proximity to world-class cuisine, water activities, and general exploration is perfect. Kristen was extremely helpful in assisting us with airline difficulties - what could have been a terrible trip was made much better by her understanding of the airline's cancellation of our flight schedule. Anna, the property manager, was also very helpful in suggesting restaurants and other activities to enjoy during our stay. We will definitely be back!
My wife and I had a wonderful week at this condo; it's secure (gated with code access), has off street parking (but limited spots--they do pack them in at night, but Anna will show you how it's done so everybody can get out when they need to!), and is right on the beach. You can't step off the terrace onto the beach--it's elevated--but you can get to the beach through another secure door in the condo building. We found the kitchen well equipped, everything worked as described, and it was clean and comfortable. Within walking distance of the restaurants, bakery and grocery store about three blocks east. A wonderful location, just 5 to 10 minutes from Orient Beach to the east, and about the same distance back to Marigot to the west. PERFECT! Bob and Kristen have a wonderful property, and Anna (the lady who manages things on the island) was a wonderful asset, too, with recommendations and assistance as needed. We'll be back! Thanks, Bob and Kristen, and Anna!
