We get what we pay for in this unit.

The view from this corner unit is nice if you look beyond the building in front of it that occupies about 70% of the overall view. Still, I get to see the ocean and it's Molokai, after all.

I am offended by having to pay a cleaning deposit. The kitchen sink had bits of food stuff in it which drew some ants. The bathroom faucet and mirror had toothpaste on them and the rugs are dirty. It has been a while since there's been a thorough cleaning of the floor corners and baseboard trim is filthy. The refrigerator was not cleaned out from the prior renter. And still . . . it is shelter, I am here and I may just be overly picky. I've stayed in other units that are comfortable and clean and am willing to pay the extra price to be more comfortable and matches my values more.

On the up side: laundry facilities are close by, Steve is nice and communication with him is easy and immediate. Olu, the housekeeper is a nice guy - sweet, actually. The complex grounds are meticulously maintained and the beach is magnificent and easy to access. Wonderful sunsets can be seen here and though there is no swimming from the shore here, there are some fantastic beaches for swimming close by. If you aren't an ocean swimmer the pool on this property is great with wonderful views of the shoreline and ocean.

Yes, the golf course is no longer in use however the cart paths make for easy walking along the West end coast. Certainly the boarded up buildings on this property will give you an idea of how magnificent this property was in its heyday. There is history here! Every time I come over and walk through the "resort" I am saddened by what has been lost and slowly gets re assimilated back into the Molokai landscape. I'd love to see the hotel and restaurant refurbished, though I doubt there's enough tourism on the island to justify the expense.

Which brings me to The most important point for me. I LOVE MOLOKAI because it is off the beaten path and thus, quiet. I have the time (slow) and space to think, write and create, look out and in . . . to get grounded in what I know is true for me and BE in PEACE. At this time in the US political history this is critical.

As for the condo, it is a place to have my basic needs met. I recommend it for adventure seekers with a car or skilled at hitchhiking.

Perfect hideaway

Appropriate for price.

Some of the basic necessities were lacking. There was no coffee in this vacation rental. Since most flights put you in the condo at or after dark, it would be nice to have at least one mornings worth of coffee available. The tiny overpriced store near by doesn't open until 9 AM. I had to purchase paper towels and other basic necessities that would have made for acceptable amenities for basic comfort. Other than that wi fi and basic cable worked. It was clean enough and water was adequate. Attention to a few basic details would help the owner lease this condo on a more regular basis.

As Described!

The condo was as described. This little gem has everything that a simple couple needs. It was beautiful and had that classic island feel.

The most important part of this review however is that we did have a little hiccup and I can not say enough about how responsive Steve was in helping us.

For someone looking at places to book a room at this amazing island, I want to provide you with some peace of mind that the owners will do everything that they can to go out of their way to help accommodate.

Highly recommended.

I wouldn't stay here again..

My stay here was manageable but I wouldn't stay here again. The floor and kitchen set up were nice but that was probably the best part of this property. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the towels had an old, musty smell to them, there was a dirty pair of underwear left under the bed and the tv is the size of a standard computer screen. Prior to arriving, Steve said to use the key in the lock box to open the door, once inside I should find an extra key on the counter to use during my stay and to return the key to the lock box, in case I lock myself out of the unit at least there's the key in the lock box. I thought, oh brilliant! Until I got inside and there was no extra key. When I advised Steve that there was no extra key and he said the previous renters did not return the key. I expressed to him my concern of someone having access to the unit throughout the duration of my stay there and he didn't do or say anything to ensure that my boyfriend and I and our belongings were safe there. Throughout the duration of my stay, my boyfriend and I had to lug our belongings around, packing it in and out of the rental car because we didn't feel comfortable leaving our belongings in a unit that some random person/people still had access to.

The surrounding area of the unit is loud. I read other reviews saying it's "quiet and in an abandoned area", not true. It's loud. I'm not sensitive to hearing other people outside talking and whatnot but if you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is not the place for you.

Like I said, it was manageable to stay here but I would not stay here again.
