Perfect location, tranquil and bright house
We spent an August week at this light-filled modern house on a gravel road near Franconia State Park, one of the most beautiful places in America. The location is ideal for hiking trails, the multi-use bike path and the swimming beach at Echo Lake. We hope to return in the future.
The house is comfortable and charming, with many windows and cathedral ceiling in the dining area. Two bedrooms and sitting area on the ground floor are ideal for older children who want to have fun after parents have gone to bed. The kitchen is not fancy but it is fine for all needs. The sound of the river from the backyard added to the atmosphere of peace. Come with bug spray and don't be afraid of the bears. You can't get closer than this to the grandeur of the White Mountains. We enjoyed this house!!
Excellent VRBO rental
We loved our 9 nights in this home near Franconia Notch. First, it is very private, but has easy access to all the attractions of Franconia Notch and the White Mountains. The only “noise” we heard was the babbling brook on the property.
We particularly liked that we could walk down the road and enter some cross country ski paths (get a map at Franconia Lodge) and walk for hours through the forest. We didn’t have to even get in the car to find a place to hike. We only met one other person hiking these trails during our entire visit.
However, we did take advantage of many of the activities in the area.
The house itself is incredibly well furnished. It has all the items necessary for a relatively serious cook….both in utensils and ingredients. The door of the refrigerator is stocked with sauces and condiments of previous renters. The kitchen is very functional and all appliances work well. There were more than enough dishes and pots and pans for a crowd! We found that the Price Chopper in St. Johnsbury and the Shaws in Littleton were excellent for shopping. The Price Chopper in Lincoln had more limited selections.
The showers were hot and powerful. The master shower is particularly nice with two shower heads.
The beds are comfortable.
The internet was more than adequate. The latency and speed were adequate.
Our only disappointment in the entire rental was that we only saw wild turkey (no bears, no moose) and they weren’t even on the property.
Beautiful home, great location
Very nice home centrally located-only about 10 mins from Lincoln, very close to Echo Lake and all surrounding activities. Liz was easy to work with and provided plenty of information about the house and the area in general. It is quiet and spacious and our family of 4 appreciated the 2 full baths and separate sleeping areas for 2 teenage boys. The sound of the brook out back is soothing and constant. I highly recommend and also thought it was very competitively priced. If you are traveling late summer though, I would recommend bringing along a small table fan or two. The last 3 days of our trip were hot and humid and the master never got below 80 degrees until around midnight. I'm sure they don't need central air in that area, so a nice fan would have helped a lot, but we made use of the couch and the extra lower level beds in those nights. Really pretty and I would return if in the area again.
Beautiful, spacious, easy to find, private
We felt excitement as soon as we entered the house. There is a lot of beautiful wood and
Attractive furniture and it felt very new. I took pictures out every window and we could
Hear the roaring brook every time we pulled up to the house, so I convinced everyone
To walk maybe 15 steps into the woods and we saw the Tucker Brook but no bears.
The White Mountains are beautiful and many things to do, many wonderful restaurants.
Nothing is very far away. We drove on many beautiful drives and researched before we
Arrived and LOVED the towns, steeples, covered bridges, trails, parks, rivers, waterfalls, trees
And it goes on & on. The house is welcoming, grocery store nearby, church nearby, just a great location and a lovely house with a view on a hill. We enjoyed Littleton, Sugar Hill, Robert Frost House, Chutters, Littleton Riverwalk, Polly's Pancake Parlor, The Flume, the Lost River, Kancamagus Highway, Cannon Aerial Tram, Mt. Washington Hotel, The Basin, Mt. Washington Auto Road, Milan Hill State Park Fire Tower and Sunset. We enjoyed 111 Grill,
The Little Grill at the Depot, Dutch Treat in Franconia, Yankee Smokehouse(West Ossipee)
Gordi's in Lincoln, Northland Restaurant in Berlin, and we loved them all. We saw a beautiful
SUNSET on highway 115 that we will never forget! Four adults thought we had an awesome time, trees had color, only disappointment was we did not see moose or bear
which would have thrilled me , maybe next time.
A fantastic place!
This house is all that is promised in the description (and more).
Spacious, comfortable, and secluded - it is extremely convenient to the park and away from any tourist hustle and bustle. The owners are exceedingly helpful and pleasant to deal with. The house itself has all the creature comforts one could ask for after an active day, making it the perfect retreat in any season. We loved our time there and hope to return some time in the future. THANKS!!!
I Had to Add a Little to my Previous Review
No sooner did I finish writing my review for the house my husband excitedly called me over to the deck. As soon as I looked towards the area he was pointing in I saw a black bear wandering around eating various plants and leaves!! So exciting AND on our last night!! We saw her saunter into the woods and we thought we wouldn't see her again. About 15 minutes later we spotted her again and this time she had two little cubs with her!! They stuck around for about 30 minutes while we took pictures and video. What a great way to end our vacation!! Like I said in my previous review this house is not only beautiful but it's in a great location!! Enjoy!!
