Heavenly Days Cottage, overlooking Somes Sound, was featured on 'Around the World in 80 Homes' on The Fine Living Channel in October, 2004. It was built in 1895 and completely renovated in 1995 with special attention to restoring all its original details, including woodwork, hardwood floors, turn of the century slate sink, etc. This Victorian home still carries a flavor of early Maine while offering comfort and beautiful views of Somes Sound. For example, the original 315 sq ft wrap-around porch w/hot tub maximizes the view. The cottage is decorated with beautiful yet durable antiques. Comfortable and casual, it's like taking a step back in time to yesteryear in coastal down east Maine! On the first floor, you'll find the kitchen with various collections of antique kitchenware, an antique Hoosier, butcher-block counter top as well as all the modern comforts of home. The dining room provides seating for 6-8 and the living room offers great views of the Sound and access to the covered wrap-around porch. The second floor offers 3 bedrooms with 1 king and 2 double beds. The deck off the master bedroom boasts panoramic views of Somes Sound and the surrounding mountains
Sit in the hot tub on the covered porch and watch the sailboats and lobster boats float by. You may even see lobstermen hauling their traps right in front of the cottage while you drink your morning coffee.
Heavenly Days Cottage is tucked at the end of a private road with only 3 other cottages in sight. With sloping lawn to the water's edge, the cottage is situated approximately 250ft from the shore of beautiful Somes Sound, the only natural fjord on the east coast. Extensive granite stonework, including a patio, rock walls, granite steps and pathways, complement the dramatic changes in landscape from mountain to ocean. A fire pit (firewood provided) near the shore is just one more way to enjoy all this cottage has to offer. Located on the 'quiet side' of Mount Desert Island, the cottage is still within minutes of all that the island has to offer. Convenient to Echo Lake and many hiking/climbing trails of Acadia National Park.

We had a wonderful time, everything was as advertised.
Great location, close enough to Acadia park and Bar Harbor that the drive was short and pleasant, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle that we were able to truly relax. The views at the property were such that pictures will not do them justice. All in all a great experience and we will definitely return when Acadia is our vacation destination. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful property with us!
Beautiful old home in gorgeous location!
This is a wonderful property for anyone who enjoys a gorgeous view, and the location was perfect for us. It is out of the congestion of Bar Harbor, but still very convenient to MDI's many attractions. Seawall and Wonderland, two must see destinations, were a short drive away, as was Southwest Harbor. But you are still close to Bar Harbor and the main park entrances. It was lovely to come home to a hot tub overlooking Somes Sound, and a great firepit. The home itself was full of attractive and interesting touches. The collection of antique kitchen utensils was a favorite. The home still has many of the original, beautiful features - wavy glass windows, beautifully ornate hardware and woodwork, amazing soapstone kitchen sink, etc. Overall, great location, really cool house!
Get away from it all at Heavenly Days
A really wonderful place, taking you away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and time traveling into a world of yesteryear and no worries. The cottage is really charming, with neat mementos from decades ago, reminding you of how much simpler life was and can be. Everything was clean, neat and the amazing fresh air full of the evergreens smell. Beautiful view of the Somes Sound looking right at Acadia Park - that's my kind of breakfast every day! The location is excellent - could not ask for anything better. Away from the crowds, yet only 15 minutes away from the main Acadia Park entrance, as well as literally 5 minutes away from beautiful and remote trails. A refreshing swim in the nearby Echo lake was a super find. The owners are wonderful people and truly take pride in managing this historical location.
Thank you for allowing us to share your little slice of Heaven.

Perfect family vacation
Charming house, loved watching the boats go by, lobsterman hauling traps, porpoise, deer, and even a bald eagle from the porch. Well furnished, kitchen had everything we needed, and kids loved the hot tub. Everything was very clean. Perfect in every way!
Perfection, relaxation, and hiking
We arrive at 2am, after a long, long day. Ready to just fall into bed, but my wife remembers the mention of a hot tub. (I remembered the adult beverage). It's warm and inviting, the perfect way to unwind. But it gets better: the next morning, the sun streams into the full length windows facing Somes Sound. As the sun rises, low clouds scud down the Sound. After a hearty breakfast, we head down the road to one of the many Acadia trail heads. For the next two weeks, we have two hikes a day, and then return to this immaculately clean jewel box of a house. The kitchen is perfect for cooking a big dinner, and then a hot tub to soothe the muscles. Close to everything, but completely private. Can't wait to come back.
We love to hear the personal experiences of our guests!
Beautiful classic home with a stunning view.
What a great home. The perfect place for an escape. The house has a lot charm with a good mix of older period pieces and all modern amenities you would expect. Location was great, just outside the park and close to Sommesville and Southwest harbor. So much to do but you will find yourself spending quiet time on the porch staring into the sound watching seals, dolphins and lobstermen hauling in their catch. Watch it all from the hot tub. We did.
Mt. Acadia and Echo Lake are right down the road for hiking and biking. Bar Harbor is a bit of a drive but you'll love coming home to this quiet charming property each evening.
