Great Escape

  • 5 of 5

Had a weeks' stay and was an absolute pleasure. Cottage itself was very well equipped and the wireless broadbacd was a great touch

Location superb for the water park itself but also for Bristol / Gloucester / Bath which all received a visit from us and our dog Billy

Clean and well equiped

  • 5 of 5

It was a wonderful experience and owner is very helpful more so easily contactable. For some unforeseen circumstances that I wasn't able to return some signed copies prior to our arrival to the property, the owner was very patient and accepted photo sent from mobile phone. Beautiful setting and I will make another trip again soon.

Very nice village as a whole with beautiful surroundings and things to do in surrounding areas.

  • 4 of 5

As above nice village feel. The cottage itself was very nice and very welcoming certainly a lovely cottage with everything you need within. Arriving at night was difficult spending an hr looking for the actually cottage as signage was minimal. The down fall being the fact as it was a lovely cottage and village setting a proper grocery shop and indeed pub would be ideal rather than the very small bar / restaurant / corner shop that you need to book in advance to get a seat... Most annoyingly was the advertisements saying about the lovely cottage village location beautiful landscapes and walks around lakes and woodland and the indoor swimming pool and spa facilities. My family thought we’d give it a go one cold wet afternoon and upon arriving at the reception area of the indoor facilities we were greeted by one of the members of staff (female) who stopped us in our tracks asking for our spa passes / tokens ? Looking a little confused we highlighted we don’t have such things to which she asked where we were staying so proudly I informed her we were at No 58 Mill End cottage. To our shock when her and the other member of staff seem to have pleasure in saying we were not welcome and there’s an outdoor pool down the lane... Admittedly once there considering it was outdoor wasn’t to bad as it was heated. We spent most of the break hidden away in the cottage which was perfectly fine as the cottage itself was very welcoming. Lastly the parking on our arrival we couldn’t park in the allocated space as it was taken so we contacted the number given to be told park in a number given by them further down. We found the parking space which Again was occupied by another vehicle. We then contacted the number again to be told “Park where you like”... As for the stay itself and the cottage I would possibly look at returning... Thanks Again

Beautiful, well presented cottage with everything you might need for a short holiday.

  • 5 of 5

I can't recommend this cottage (and owner) enough! The cottage is charming and imaculate throughout. Derek has ensured his guests have everything they may need for a short break. I took my family for my mother's 70th birthday and it was some of the best family time we've had together; some of the that due to the beautiful surroundings. The site itself is so well kept and there is plenty to do with young children too; in fact we ran out of time as we were only there for 3 days. We had two lovely meals at Balihoo and the staff were great. It does fill up quickly at peak time, however quality of food was worth the wait. I can't recommend this cottage and site more highly; fabulous stay!
