About April & Tom Branick
April is originally from North Carolina and Tom is from Ilinois, hence North meets South. Work and kids keep us in Illinois right now, but we hope to eventually make our way to North Carolina. 122 Sailfish is our future retirement home.
April & Tom Branick purchased this House in 2017
Why April & Tom Branick chose Holden Beach
We loved this property because it offers all the views possible - ocean, canal, marsh, and inlet waterway. The marsh offers wildlife watching such as fox, bobcats, deer, and a variety of birds. We are a fishing family so having the canal was important for us to have the ability to get in the boat and go!
What makes this House unique
April's mom and dad live a few miles from the beach house. Holden Beach is a family-friendly, quiet beach. In fact, it's a Sea Turtle sanctuary. The location is also great because there are two options on airports for easy travel to and from North Carolina. The two closest airports are Wilmington, NC (ILM) and Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR) which are both around 50 miles drive depending on route. Either option can take anywhere from an hour to an hour and 1/2 drive to Holden Beach.

Wonderful family vacation
This house is truly a home away from home! Very clean, very comfortable, with a fully stocked kitchen and indoor amenities needed to make parents and kids happy. This was our first visit to Holden Beach - reading the reviews about the views of the marsh and canal, we were hopeful, but cautious. Well, the views are truly beautiful - from either side of the house, at any time of day, you are treated to a peaceful, gorgeous backdrop. The kayaks were a ton of fun, and we suggest renting jet skis for the intracoastal waterway. There are only a few restaurants on the island, and they're about 10 minutes away, but we enjoyed them - especially Mermaids, which has a surprisingly delicious Greek inspired menu! April was wonderful to work with, the house is comfortable, clean and well-appointed, the island is charming, and we hope to be back again.
Thank you for the great review and hope to see you back next year!
My family and I absolutely loved the communication with the owners, the house and location!
We hope to be able to stay again!
Great Vacation Home!!
Owner’s were very prompt to reply to our question about renting property! We encountered no problems with renting this property & we had no problems during our stay.
Book. This. Rental!
This place felt more like a home rather than a house. Super clean. Warm and inviting decor. The location is also perfect. Quick walk to beach access and quick drives to restaurants and yummy ice cream shops! Very nice bonus of having the use of the kayaks, beach toys and the beach cart and wagon to take everything to the beach with.
Jill was great to work with too and very communicative.
This hopefully won’t be our only stay here. Highly recommend.
Thanks for the great feedback and hope you stay with us again.

First time at Holden Beach
When we first decided on a beach trip for family from NC and the UK, Holden was not our first choice. After our stay here, Holden Beach is very much alone in the top spot. Having grown up
vacationing on the Grand Strand and NC beaches, we had pretty given into crowded beaches and over development. Holden and North meets South is most certainly a throwback to simpler times. The beach house is immaculate with nice appliances that work, plenty of kitchen items and comfortable furniture and beds. One view looks out over a natural marsh area with deer and herons. The sun sets over the marsh so plan your camera time. The other side of the house looks out over the channel where your two kayaks await. The house is so tall that you can easily see the ocean even though you are about 100 yards back from the beach. But no one complained and the walk is needed for the extra calories you will be consuming. Oh yes, the shower in the master bath is the best we have had at a beach stay. This beach house is a wonderful place to stay. Especially if you don’t know the area. The owners have put together a guest guide that covers Everything that Holden has to offer.
Thank you so much and hope you would consider us in the future. Holden Beach is a nice little hidden gem.
