Kayak fishing in Little Lagoon - this huge speckled trout was released back into the lagoon as soon as the photo was taken.
The property is surrounded by old growth, sand live oak and it's like being in a tree house -an isolated bit of 'old Gulf Shores' that's close to everything and we love it!
Facing south to the gulf, the house is fronted by Stanton Creek which connects to other canals leading to Little Lagoon. The creek is a natural wetland, excellent for bird-watching and we love to canoe and kayak in the lagoon, which is a great place to fish or just watch the sunset. We're just a 5-minute walk to the public beach and 'The Hangout' in Gulf Shores, which makes this a great spot for the annual Shrimp Festival and we have a private balcony for the 4th of July Fireworks.
Debra, John and I wanted to thank you again for the wonderful time we had at Green Heron House from Sept. 5th thru 11th. We cannot stop talking about it. That was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had in a long time and look forward to coming back next year. The house was wonderful as well as how close it was to everything. The restaurants were good, especially Desoto's, which we would highly recommend to anyone. The beach was so close, and the gift shops as well as convenient to grocery stores. Could not ask for a better location. Thank you for making us feel so at home.
Our family of 6 absolutely loved our stay at The Green Heron. It was our second stay there. The bathroom had been remodeled since our original stay and I must say it was done beautifully! We love the fact that the neighborhood is so quiet and easy to find. The kitchen had every thing we needed to complete our Christmas meal and bring food to the Great Grandparents who live nearby! We had an excellent experience staying at the Green Heron and look forward to staying there again in the future. Thank you for making our Holidays merry and bright! God Bless!
We would recommend this place 100 percent. It was so clean and furnished very nice. It has everything you will need to have a wonderful stay. The beach is walking distance but driving is recommended I think just due to the busy street. Walking is fine for all the shops and eating places. This house is on a dead end Street so it's very quite and private.
We will definitely be going back to the Green Heron House . We love it.♡
We enjoyed staying here- and had lots of fun at the beach. There is also a canoe which you can borrow and paddle over to the bayou side to see the sunset. We saw lots of types of birds, herons, etc. The host was very friendly and accommodating, they own the buildings next door. The space was clean and beds were comfortable. Billy the owner's son, gave us a demonstration of throwing nets and told us stories of the area. The only thing I didn't like was there is a music stage called the Hangout a few blocks away and the bass sound from the music was very loud at times, loud enough we could hear it over our own music. Concerts were usually done by 11pm. We like the Gulf Shores State Park best for beaches, where there are fewer people. Fort Morgan is a fun day trip to visit. There are usually people playing volleyball at the public beach.
We really enjoyed our stay. The listing is as advertised. Great location and view of inner canals, beach and lagoon. The canoe was great for fishing. We had one small issue with the house interior when we arrived. My wife called the owner and it was quickly rectified. I can and will recommend this listing to friends and family.
This is a beautiful gem. Great location to the beach, food and entertainment! We are a family of 4 and walked to the beach, shopping and the restaurants every day. Beats driving in the traffic and paying for beach parking.
Grocery store is about 10 min. away. We loved visiting the alligator farm.
The house is very cute and good views from the deck, quiet neighborhood
Definitely will be back. Diane we appreciate you letting us rent your home and allowing us to bring our pets.
