About Jamie Molony
We are long time Charlestonians in a 50-year marriage who long ago invested in this beautiful city. After sailing the Atlantic to Europe with our three children and living half the year in different ports, and after discovering the joys of VRBO, we have returned home and are now turning our apartments into short term rentals and sharing wonderful Charleston with fellow travelers. We have a complex known as St Philip Square which has been a huge hit with our guests. We have 1-4 bedroom apartments which make the perfect place for wedding families or family reunions or business retreats. My husband and I are assisted by our lovely and well loved Jamie who manages to solve any and every problem. Our daughter with her law degree knows all the best places to eat and is ready to help you organize your wedding accommodations. She had rather help us and take care of her children than practice law! One of us can usually solve your problems. We have had many ventures (business, sales, world travel, psychology and teaching) but are finding designing and renovating our apartments has opened a new world to us and has allowed us to meet new people as hosts rather than as guests ourselves. (We still love to travel and always use VRBO).
Jamie Molony purchased this Apartment in 1996
Why Jamie Molony chose Downtown Charleston
When we bought these properties in 1996 Charleston was just beginning to open the upper peninsula to restoration. We were brave pioneers. Our son who had the foresight urged us on. Now the area has become the hottest, most vibrant part of town. When we ride down King St at night we are blown away by the excitement, the energy, the joy, the fun. The lower peninsula is lovely but it is very quiet and has little commercial activity. In Cannonborough there are corner grocery stores, boutiques, fantastic restaurants, lively bars. We probably did not really believe our son but he sure was right.
What makes this Apartment unique
St Philip Square uniquely offers 8 properties within a "square" that opens onto a shared parking area. Each apartment is a separate unit and has its own qualities. It is the perfect opportunity for groups of all sizes to organize a joint rental but each apartment is separate and its own place. The VRBO numbers are listed here: 1446527. 1531369. 1351757. 1662029. 834186. 7841346. 7841344. 567555 If you put these numbers into a VRBO search without dates you will be able to view each listing.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Taste of Charleston
The property was very clean and modern. The location was fantastic...close to King St with all the shops and food choices within easy walking distance. The rest of the town was minutes away by car. The home and its surroundings let us experience the feel of Charleston as we had been looking forward to and will be returning back to soon. Great town, great people, great accommodations. Thanks again.
Beautifully restored apartment
Lovely apartment. High end finishes, clean, wonderful location able to walk to nice restaurants and shops.
Thank you for your 5 star review. We are so pleased you enjoyed our “high end finishes” and our great location. Our goal was to create a space that is comfortable but also interesting and fun to stay in. We are lucky to have such a great location and glad that we can offer that. Thanks again for staying with us.
Great apartment & location
We loved the accommodations. Fully equipped with nice details from face wipes to steamer. Right on the free bus route with stop near by. Near night life & walking distance to many sights.
Charleston road trip
Every year we take our grandkids on a road trip. This year they chose Charleston . We absolutely loved the apt. Great location, beautiful inside and the property management answered every text or email immediately! We would definitely rent this place again! We meant Mr Bennett and he was wonderful!
Spoleto Festival Visit
The apartment was perfect for 2 friends. It was clean, modern, well stocked, and located within walking distance of many Spoleto venues, lots of shops, and restaurants. Jamie, the manager, was very helpful in giving us information before and during our visit.
Perfect 👌 Place for the Charleston Experience
Perfect place to stay in Charleston. King Street is two blocks away. The apartment is very spacious with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for your 5 star review and your enthusiasm. We are glad you enjoyed the large bedrooms each with its own bath. We sacrificed a bedroom when renovating this apartment to have large en-suite bedrooms so we are happy you appreciated that.
St Philip St is only one block from King St. You do have to walk half a block to either Cannon St or to Morris St to get to that block so I guess you would say we are 1 1/2 blocks from King St. And we are glad to not be right in King St!
We are part of a much larger complex known as St Philip Square which has a number of apartments with similar amenities and decor. If you ever need space for a larger group or want to try a different apartment please contact us. We have lots of parking, a great location, pretty apartments and diverse accommodations. Tell your friends about us and about Charleston.
We are located in historic Cannonborough in the upper King St area. We have renovated 6 historic buildings known as St Philip Square and are in the process of opening them to short term rental. They make an ideal setting for family weddings and reunions or business retreats where people can all be together but be in separate, charming, comfortable spaces without the sterility and confinement of a hotel.
Charleston is already well known as a destination for weddings and general touring. The lower peninsula ("South of Broad" is the more sedate and exclusive area and is very limited for short term rental. Our area has become the most vibrant part of town loaded with restaurants (Stellas, The Ordinary, The Grocery, The Darling Oyster, Goulette), bars, shops (West Elm, Filigre), spas along with museums and house museums (Charleston Museum, Children's Museum, The Aquarium, Maingault House Museuma0.
Short term rentals without the owner present are legal here and have made this area particularly popular.
We are also close to interstate access so all the beaches are 20-40 minutes away. Sullivans Island, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, Kiawah Island, Wadmalaw Island, Drayton Hall, Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation, and Charles Town Landing are all accessible and worth a visit.
A walk to the "South of Broad" area can be done in 30 minutes without stopping. But of course you can pick any street (King, Legare, Church, Meeting, East Bay) to take you there and find amazing houses and beautiful gardens, art shops and boutiques along the way and you will take a lot longer than 30 minutes to get there.
