'The Cottage sits on a very private 2-acre site right on the Deschutes River, adjacent to the Riverside Lodge (VRBO 153403). The cottage and lodge share a private dock and great views across a wildlife rich peninsula, with deer, elk, river otter, fox, chipmunks, ducks, geese, eagles, and a wide variety of other birds commonly in residence.
One of the original houses on the river, the Cottage is located only 5 miles from all of the amenities of world-famous Sunriver Resort, and 20 miles from world-class skiing at Mt. Bachelor.
The cottage has a large, open living space with wood stove and TV. Five small but comfortable bedrooms, four with double beds, the fifth with a pair of bunks. Can sleep 10, though may be more comfortable for 6 to 8 depending on how many would like their own bed and bedroom. Bench window seating bordering the living area can make an excellent addtioninal sleeping area for children if they bring their own bedding. One bathroom with shower.
The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, washer and dryer. RV hookup available except in winter for an added fee. Large parking area.
If you need a bigger house, we have two adjacent riverfront properties--check out 'The Mountain View Retreat' (VRBO 46606) and 'The Riverside Lodge" (153403). With all three houses, large groups of 41 can be accommodated.
Easy access to all that Central Oregon has to offer, at a very affordable price.
Sorry NO WEDDINGS! And no LARGE GATHERINGS beyond the stated occupancy of this property. Thank you!
Beautiful and spacious lodge with everything we could have possibly needed! The cottage was rustic and relaxing.
Owners and managers were very helpful and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place in Sunriver!!
We loved the cottage on this property! It was so quaint, rustic and fun! There were plenty of blankets which was nice because it got cold at night in October. There was also a couple places to sit and enjoy hangout time with the other ladies I was with. You literally walk out the door and the river is right in front of you. Such a pretty view. The place feels remote but is actually a short drive into Sunriver which has the cutest village area with shops, restaurants, Goodies ice cream, mini golf in warm weather and ice rink in winter. We loved our time there! We will definitely be back again next year!
We rented the combined three properties for a family reunion in May 2015. We used the Mountain View Retreat as the "quiet house" for Grandma, aunties and uncles; the Lodge as the "hub" where all meals were served; and the Cottage as "overflow" for the younger crowd.
The Cottage was particularly useful! First, we rented it because we wanted to guarantee that there were no "others" on the property during our family's visit; then we quickly realized that this was perfect setting for our younger guests. This was a good little hideaway for them, where kids could run around and the college crowd gathered around the table at night, laughing and playing cards.
Our guests did not share any negatives about their stay at the cottage. I was happy because one of our guests showed up with two dogs Friday night, without giving us any notice. I was able to email the property manager and work out approval for them--the pet-friendliness was a blessing!
Interacting with the property manager was smooth, helpful, and without any issue. Thank you for the outstanding trip and overall accommodations. Our family is STILL talking about the trip, nearly a month later! They loved the peaceful setting, the many places for people to hang out, separate from each other, gather and relax.
We rented this cabin in addition to the Lodge, and two of us slept here. It was our morning coffee and wildlife watching site.Funky, but CLEAN funky, loved the wood stove in the mornings. Really a wonderful place for a family gathering! The energy could NOT have been better!
This propert has no AC and their were massive small black bugs on the walls. After the first night, I tried to contact the owners no response (until we were about to leave). It was so bad we had to move everyone out and figure out new lodging. Some caveats -
1. The house is not part of the "sunriver" resort. Not a bad thing but just realize you aren't part of the sunriver resort so you can't get free passes to aquatic center.
2. The owners don't actually manage the property. The use a third party which I found in-personal and slow in repsonses.
3. We tried to get a refund for second property since we couldn't/didn't use it. After 4 weeks, they finally said that wasn't possible.
We had a very nice stay at this cottage. Pet friendly and right on the water. Nice and private. Comfortable double bed and well equipped kitchen. Lots of bedrooms but only 1 bathroom, which was fine for me and my husband, but if lots of people in your party, be aware of 1 bathroom. We really enjoyed how convenient the water and dock is to the cottage. Will definitely go back. (They need to adjust the time the sprinkler system comes on as its very noisy and woke us up in a panic at 3:40am - we had no idea what the sound was that was making the walls vibrate.)
