perfectly appointed riverfront estate
We had such a lovely time staying at this property for a family vacation. The house is incredibly lovely, with everything you might need, and spotlessly clean. Honestly, the pictures may not even do the house and property justice. The beds were comfortable, and the wrap-around porch was exceptional. Of course, it helps that the yard is more like a private estate, with the creek, the river, huge trees and a small pond. We had 2 kids with us, 4 and 6, and felt very comfortable letting them play in the yard with us watching from the porch, given the excellent fencing around the river and pond. They enjoyed catching grass hoppers, wading in the creek, and swinging in the hammocks that we brought and put up in the aspen grove. The kids enjoyed exploring the antique tractor and carriages too. It is a steep climb down some wooden steps down the yard, but the porch is also well- secured, so you could easily keep a little one safe on the porch. It's a quick 25 min drive to the Black Canyon, which is breathtaking. Two tiny caveats - during the morning rush hour, you can hear a bit of the road from the porch, but it is mostly covered by the roaring river, and barely noticeable. Also, the sod house is more 'natural' than we were expecting - so if you stay there, be prepared that this is not the same as staying in the main house. Think glamping (in a very cool historical location). We had some unwanted visitors in the sod house, and ended up getting a refund for our nights there. That said, we had a truly lovely vacation - just eating meals on the porch, listening to the river and the birds, and watching the stars at night were fabulous. The property managers were friendly and responded in a timely manner. The entire experience was relaxing, and as you come down the road towards the house, you are treated with a 270 degree view of the mountain ranges - just stunning. I would certainly recommend this house, for a relaxing, comfortable time away from the hustle and bustle.
a great place to stay
The property was a wonderful place to stay. A beautiful location and clean home. Thanks for your hospitality we had a great time!
The house was amazing. The view was wonderful. Just sitting outside listening to the river was calming. We really loved our stay and would return again.
No one wanted to leave!
This was the perfect place for our family reunion. We also reserved the sod house to give us more sleeping, and we are so happy we had it too.
The living area along with the beautiful wrap around porch gave us plenty of room to be together to eat and to play games when it became to dark outside to play anymore. The grounds were spectacular, and so much room to have kids and adults run around and play!
The kitchen is large enough to prepare meals, and the bar is so big that we were able to give most people sitting room. But none of us wanted to eat inside when there was the beautiful view of the river.
If you have a large group this the place to get!
