About Libby

Hello. I'm Libby manager of the Milwaukee House I love being so near the river and downtown, walking my kids through the neighborhoods and in the parks along the river, having coffee in town or across the street, enjoying the street fairs and other events nearby. You can spend time hiking on nearby river trails, strolling thru downtown, getting out in the natural wonder of this special place. The house is just right--open, light, comfortable, functional. . So relaxing and fun--Bend is a rare and beautiful place. I love the people and the many activities available.

Libby purchased this house in 2007

Why Libby chose River West

Location, location, location!! Close to bakeries, the popular Back Porch Coffee House and all the near by cafes and restaurants I love this vintage craftsman home with wood flooring, kitchen, laundry, baths, heating, electrical system, fenced yards for dogs & kids. Bend is a special place, as those who live in Oregon know and others discover. Some love the golf courses, others the clean air and beauty, and for activity-lovers, there are bicycle courses and many snow, sun, trail & water sports, events and town fairs. There is plenty to do for the active and very relaxing for anyone seeking R & R or just time to read, write, paint...

What makes this house unique

The Milwaukee House offers the comforts of home because it is a home--not just a rental. Just relaxing on the front porch is wonderful, a perfect spot to watch the world go by on a street lined with trees and friendly passers-by. Downtown (with all the shops & restaurants and Drake Park on the river) is very close, so you don't have to drive or search for parking, and small bakeries offer indescribable treats. Newport Gourmet Market just across the street has everything if you choose to eat in or bbq. The river, 3 easy blocks, is story-book scenic and inviting year-round. You can enjoy exploring, hiking, & motorcycling in the countryside--high desert & gorgeous mountain terrain. Good fishing nearby, lots of music especially in the summer, events & sports of all kinds & walking paths along the river that go for miles. It's always fun.

Many golf, ski, and bike enthusiasts come back again and again.

Great location, comfortable house!

  • 4 of 5

We really liked having the market so close and an amazing bakery equally close for breakfast. It was also an easy walk downtown even for two kids under 5. The house was clean and comfortable, plenty of room for four people. The house feels fresh and updated.

Satisfactory but needs some updating

  • 3 of 5

Great location near the river but noisy by the market service entrance. That made it not so pleasant to sit out front. The house is cute and fine in layout; it had everything we needed. However, it is way past time for a make-over: everything down to the potholders are tired, worn and very mismatched. Some reinvestment is way overdue! Someone needs to give more regular supervision; for example, the sprinklers went on morning and evening, wetting the entire porch and our shoes! Even though overall it was satisfactory and most people wouldn't care, I think visitors deserve an updated, fresh vacation home and attention to detail where they are relaxing and sleeping--and the house would love it too!

Owner's Response: Interesting you would state these items Aloha, I am not sure you are aware but the management was changing actually the week after you left and we are in fact completely redoing the house at the end of October after these last rentals under the former management. The house will be painted completely from top to bottom, every furnishing removed and updated with new, including all kitchen items, linens, bedding, towels, etc! The porch was just re-stained two days ago and yes the sprinklers were completely over flowing the porch! Thankfully all of this will be resolved. I can't wait to get the photos up!

Great little house

  • 5 of 5

This was all that we needed for our three weeks in Bend. Loved the neighborhood -- grocery store, restaurants, walk to Drake Park. We did learn to close the windows early in the morning so we could sleep through the early delivery trucks going in and out of the Newport Market! The house was comfy, and well-stocked with necessities, including maps and brochures of things to do and places to eat. Excellent valus, too, for a 2-bedroom place. Loved it!
