About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.25 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Our family has lived in this neighborhood since the 1940's and we would be proud to share our home and/or tell you about how this location might serve your needs for your visit to Chicago.

Brand new kitchen and 2 bathrooms installed in 2015. This 1920's Colonial corner home is located on Chicago's Northside neighborhood of Rogers Park, one mile west of Lake Michigan. The new fully equipped kitchen is open to the dining room as depicted in pictures. You can cook and or grill a great meal for your family.

The downtown commuter train, METRA, is two blocks away - you can board a train and be downtown in less than 20 minutes! The Chicago subway El stop is five blocks away, equally fast and will take you to any number of downtown locations. Immediately to the north of Rogers Park is Evanston, home of Northwestern University - 10 minutes away and easily reached by car or train. Evanston is a wonderful college town with shops, boutiques, art galleries, theaters and cinemas to visit, and a number of wonderful restaurants, making it a destination for city and suburban dwellers. To the south, about 10 minutes away is the wonderful Andersonville neighborhood filled with over 50 restaurants, shops, and bars.

This house is set in a quiet residential neighborhood. The first floor has a living room (25' x 14'), dining room (14' x 14'), kitchen (14' x 14') and den (16' x 9'). This main level has hardwood floors throughout. The 3 bedrooms upstairs are carpeted with grey berber carpet (There is also an upstairs office with desk). Two separate zones for Heating and air conditioning. Downstairs has a den, laundry, 4th bedroom and full bathroom. The home has a large rear yard and deck with a gas BBQ directly off the kitchen.

There is a small park across street (Matanky Playlot), ideal for small children. Across the street is Warren Park, one of the largest parks in the city of Chicago, with a nine hole golf course, batting cages, ice skating rink, sledding hill, tennis courts, and skate park.

You can walk to some restaurants (Baker's Square, Heartland Cafe Diner). Less than one mile away is the the city's largest concentration if Indian, Pakistani and vegetarian restaurants, as well as other Asian and middle eastern cuisines. Within 10 minute drives are both very trendy neighborhoods (Andersonville, Edgewater, Lincoln Square), Ravenswood artisan cooperatives and ethnic centers.

Lake Michigan is one mile from the house, where Chicagoans relax, fish, boat and swim, bike or stroll along the 20 mile lakefront path. Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, is a 15 minute drive by car, and 10 minute trip by bus or "el" (the elevated train). Lincoln Park, 20 minutes away, contains a wonderful zoo (free entry), the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and a botanical garden.

About Yehuda

We have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and love how close it is to everything. The nearby commuter train or driving downtown makes everything so close. We have people stay with us who are sightseeing in Chicago, coming for family gatherings or other events.

Yehuda purchased this house in 1991

Why Yehuda chose Far North

The kitchen, master bath and upstairs guest baths were renovated in 2015 and blend the warmth of this 1920's home with modern conveniences. People love hanging out in the large living room or combined dining room/kitchen or in the warmer months spending time with their friends and family in the backyard/deck. The proximity to both the Metra commuter train, bus and subway make this an easy location to explore the city without a car or simply drive downtown in 20 minutes.

What makes this house unique

This is a great central location that is close to everything. You can be downtown in 20 minutes or go to the Northwestern University campus in 10 minutes or the beach is 1.5 miles away.

A Great North Chicago Rental

  • 4 of 5

Our family recently stayed in this large home in Rogers Park to attend a wedding in Highland Park. We appreciated the spaciousness of this home, adequate sleeping space for nine, the modern kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and comfortable common areas. The location was perfect to access public transit to the city ( we opted to Uber) or enjoy a one mile walk to Lake Michigan and Loyola Park. Parking was an issue coming in late on Friday and Saturday nights. As we were aware of this, we parked several blocks away and then moved our car in the AM. Thank you, Yehuda, for sharing your home and your excellent responsiveness ... we look forward to returning!

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a great home. Enough bedrooms/baths for the 7 of us; fenced in front yard for our grandson to kick his soccer ball all day; large dining area and kitchen; close to Chicago. Spent 6 nights here and everything we needed was available even a booster seat and pack-n-play for the grandson. Owners very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend it.

Large Home, Good location, Huge and Modern Kitchen

  • 5 of 5

We were out-of-town guests, big family drove several hundreds miles to Chicago for my son's wedding. The transaction was very simple and the owner was very quick in respond to inquiries via email. The house is large with lots of room and space, very clean. We felt like at home. The kitchen is huge with modern appliances, which is a perfect fit for large family. Neighbor was safe, although parking on the street is packed at night. Groceries shopping was convenient, Starbucks is 5 minutes from the house for those of you could not go through a day without its popular coffee. Overall, this house is one of high points in our Chicago trip.

Huge, Clean, Modern Home with a Great Vibe!

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely perfect for our needs! Although it is huge (4/5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths) it is still cozy and comfortable. It is an excellent choice for a couple of families vacationing in Chicago. Close to both the EL and Commuter train to head into the downtown area. Beautiful kitchen, great place to hang out and very roomy. The owner was great, very responsive, quick to get security deposit back. If we ever come back to Chicago, I would rent this house again. On street parking, so if you have a car be aware coming back late at night you may have some difficulty finding a spot.

out of town guests

  • 5 of 5

Great place to house out of town guests. I recently rented the house for friends and family coming to my 60th celebration, and I slept in my own house to maintain my sanity.

I've also rented the house for a group of friend coming to Chicago on retreat.

Comfortable, roomy, quiet, interesting neighborhood, great 1-mile walk to beautiful beach along Lake Michigan. Great Mexican restaurants nearby.

Can hang out in house, cook meals together, visit.

Owner is always accessible and able to answer questions.

Perfect accommodations

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our needs. There were 9 people (3 kids and 6 adults) in our college reunion group and we had plenty of space to spread out. Loved the open concept of the kitchen and dining room. Allowed for wonderful opportunity to converse. Property owner, Yehuda, was a pleasure to work with. Excellent communication and accommodating. Highly recommend.
