Wonderful location, Wonderful property, Welcoming host!!
We stayed here as part of a larger group and out of 5 five apartments, Sharon's apartment was the hands down the favorite of the group. On a quiet alley with beautiful garden entrance, the setting was very peaceful. Only a few minutes walk to Mamilla Mall, with grocery store and restaurants nearby. Dining room area was very large and wonderful for Shabbat gatherings. Sharon was a wonderful and accommodating host as well, helping us check in and check out. I would highly recommend Sharon's place as it is a very peaceful resting spot after a long day of seeing Jerusalem!
Loved every moment!
We’ve stayed in Jerusalem before,in hotels and in vacation apartments, but this was a winner! The location is incredible, so close to Mamilla, the Old City and the kotel.
We were celebrating a family event, and we had ample room in the huge salon, with its impressive arches and domed ceiling, for entertaining all the family, together with family and friends. We created quite an atmosphere.
The kitchen was kosher – we needed that.
There was wifi and even a phone with a US number – great to keep up with business back home.
Bedrooms were comfortable. Had TV’s that we barely turned on - we were so busy.
Oh, and the patio outside was wonderful..for some morning coffee and croissants.
Sharon was a pleasure to deal with, from booking, to answering our questions about guides, restaurants etc.
A great experience – we wouldn’t stay anywhere else from now on.
Week long rental end of July, 2011
Lovely apartment (quiet neighborhood down a pedestrian street near the new Waldorf Astoria) within an 8-10 minute walk of the Jaffe Gate (Old City). Near a grocery store (Kosher) and lots of restaurants and the luxurious Mamilla Mall). Both the apartment and the owners were outstanding (owners speak fluent English and were remarkably helpful and easily reachable). Clean, convenient to everything important, Kosher, air conditioned (imperative in the summer months) and allows the renter to avoid the need to have a rental car. Cabs are everywhere and much less expensive then a car rental. I would not think of renting hotel rooms when the real value (and lovely expansive space) is available in an apartment rental such as this. There were 6 of us and the apt. was perfect.
Special, central & highly recommended
I had never rented from VRBO before, but based on the outstanding reviews of this property I decided to rent it for our family's 5-night stay in Jerusalem. Very glad I did. Sharon, the owner, was very responsive in advance to my inquiries. When we arrived in Jerusalem, she and her husband met us at the house and made us feel at home. Everything is exactly as described on the website and the reviews of other travelers. The location cannot be beat: as others have said, it is close to the Jaffa Gate, steps from the Mamilla shopping and a short walk to other parts of central Jerusalem (Ben Yehuda is about a 5 min. walk). The arches and other distinctive features of the house make you feel much more like you are staying in Jerusalem than you will at any hotel. Pictures of the front room do not do it justice: its high ceilings and built in daybeds under the arches make you feel as if you are living in a palace. Everything throughout the house works well and is easy to use and comfortable. The patio in front is a wonderful place to spend cool Jerusalem evenings. As others have said, there is a supermarket just up the hill, with a cart provided. All in all, a terrific rental experience and one I would gladly repeat on my next trip.
A very special part of our trip!
This apartment was a delight to stay in. It is charming, both visually and architecturally. The owner has done an amazing job of allowing the ancient beauty (large stones walls, arched celings) to shine, while updating the apartment so that it is clean, modern and very comfortable. The kitchen has all of the modern conveniences, and the appliances all work well. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and there is plenty of closet and storage room. There is also a lovely and colorful garden to enjoy right of the kitchen.
Sharon, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. She met us at the apartment when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour and explanation of the apartment. Sharon was gracious and pleasant and I felt that I could contact her if a problem arose (none did) and I knew she would respond immediately.
Finally, you know what they say....location, location, location!! We could walk just about everywhere that we wanted to with ease. But, if we needed a taxi, we only had to walk to the street and there was a steady stream of available cabs.
I would definitely return to this apartment or any apartment owned by Sharon.
Exquisite Property in the Most Central Jerusalem Location
My husband and I took the first floor bedroom convenient to the galley kitchen and eating nook, the spectacular living-dining room, and up- to- date bathroom with a tub and shower and electric heater. In the high-ceilinged spacious dining-living room there was lots of room for our many Shabbat guests. On the second floor were a large bedroom with a kingsize bed and a smaller bedroom with a single bed. The beds were very clean and comfortable and the rooms attractive, with good storage. Another modern bathroom with tub and shower was on this floor.
The outside patio was private (next to the US Embassy building), with a lovely garden. It was an easy walk to the King David Hotel and to the Kotel and the Y. There were lots of restaurants, a beautiful park, and downtown Jerusalem shopping close by. Meah Shearim was a 15 minute walk. The owner was very accessible and responsive. The rental was in very good condition and very nicely appointed and decorated.Although there was inadequate air circulation in the downstairs bathroom, all in all, we were very happy to be there, and would definitely like to stay there again. The best way to get around Jerusalem is on foot. This location made Jerusalem very accessible.
