Cosy relaxing place to hide away but easy access to Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais & a short walk to the beach at Estoril. We stayed with 2 children who particularly loved the pool and garden. We found the house was equipped with all we needed, lovely outdoor areas to relax in sun or shade. Lots to do in the area - or just do nothing at all! Owners friendly & helpful - thank you for a lovely stay!
A week in Estoril
We had a great stay. The garden and outside lounge weren particularly enjoyable to sit in. Very well situated for shopping and th beach.
Beautiful property conveniently located in Estoril
Beautiful property conveniently located in Estoril. Cristina was easily contactable and very helpful
We are family of 4, 2A + 2C(11&13), and had a great stay at Kristina's villa. It was just exactly same as pictures, the villa and patio was lovely and clean, the garden was beautifully cared and clean swimming pool. Our boys were really enjoying playing on grass and jumping into the swimming pool.
Thank you Kristina your warm welcome even though we had arrived late night due to flight delay. Hope to go back there again next year!
Beautiful house and garden
We had a very warm welcome at the property of Cristina and José. Really a beautiful cottage. Very nice decorated and well equiped. There is a lot of space in the beautiful garden and there are nice places where you can relax. The swimmingpool is a nice extra, but a little bit to cold this time of the year.
In Estoril is a good little supermarket for your daily grocery. The beach of Estoril is very clean and nice. The walk along the boulevard to Cascais is recommendable. You can go to Lissabon by train, it is a 15 minute walk to the station. Sintra is nice place to visit. It's about 35 minutes by bus.
So we had a very very nice stay at this property. Cristina was always available whenever we needed something and José gave us some nice tips to do in the region.
Thank you for your hospitality, and for making a place where we felt at home.
Over all, enjoyable, but with certain reservations
Earlier reviews are quite right in saying that this property is ‘as advertised’ and is a delightful setting for a relaxing holiday. Set in a pleasant neighbourhood, we stayed in the larger of the two villas, overlooking the garden. It was spacious, clean and well maintained throughout, the bed comfortable. Cristina, her husband and the family are all pleasant and helpful and keen to ensure that everything is in order. The traffic noise issue is a subjective one and depends on what you’re used to. We happen to live in a town, but can enjoy our garden relatively free of traffic noise so we did find it noticeable at first but soon got used to it so while it wasn’t as peaceful as we might have wished, for us the ambience of the garden and pool pretty well made up for that. It is quite a walk to the sea front and a bit of an uphill drag coming back, but for the less mobile there are buses and taxis are plentiful and cheap. There were one or two things that slightly bothered us. Unlike similar properties in the UK there was absolutely no ‘welcoming pack’ whatsoever; no milk, sugar, condiments, tea or coffee so we had to hike to a local garage upon arrival to stock up with a few basics. Not sure what would have happened if we’d arrived at a less convenient hour. To give her her due Cristina did take us to a supermarket next day and this was most helpful. We didn’t hire a car but on reflection this would have been a good idea. When we went to make a cup of tea we discovered there was no kettle or teapot. As indicated in the blurb there is a (small) microwave but no instructions, no oven, only a hob, so not so good for anyone who wants to actually ‘self-cater’. There was no plug in the kitchen sink, which wasn’t helpful. There are lots of places to eat within easy reach. We shared the garden with an American couple and their daughter who were staying in the other villa and there was plenty of space and garden furniture for all.
Unfortunately Cristina and her husband ‘disappeared’ a couple of days before we left without telling us they were going to be away, so we didn’t have the chance to share any of the above with her, which was a shame. We just left without any connection with any member of the family.
Over all, an enjoyable experience.
The house is in the center of Estoril. A picturesque village, quiet and very beautiful. Known also by the famous Estoril Casino. It has a very good climate, hot in summer and spring, rental beach. A few km from Lisbon, Sintra, Mafra or Obidos is ideal for sightseeing. It has shopping center, cinemas, museums, very important for sailing regattas in Cascais, equestrian events at the Hippodrome de Cascais, or bike racing at the Estoril Autodrome. With a very mild winter, ideal for those who can do this holiday season. A car is advisable if you want to visit the surroundings. However the train station to Lisbon is a 10 min walk away and offers a fantastic 30-minute drive. There are buses to Guincho, Sintra, Mafra or Obidos. Very nice for those who like walking, because the wall with 3km takes us to Cascais' always by the sea. The area is known for great fish restaurants.
