The ocean sounds were amazing

  • 4 of 5

The location and amenities of this property were awesome. Our family stayed here in February 2018 and even on rainy days the view of the ocean from the surround windows was breath taking. Thank you Linda and mike for making our first time to Hawaii memorable.

Christmas with an awesome view!

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful Christmas vacation at this historic house with unbeatable views. Watching the big waves, surfers, and beautiful sunsets each day were favorite activities. We explored the island easily from this location - the airport, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head and Makapu'u Point lighthouse all within 1-1.5 hour drive. Ted's Bakery was a favorite for breakfast right across Kam highway from this neighborhood. Surfing lessons 15 min away in Haleiwa. Polynesian Cultural Center 20 min away. Kualoa Ranch 40 min away. Mike was friendly and a great host. Super nice to have toiletries ready to go on arrival, laundry facilities were great, and the outdoor shower was a hit. The location of this home is perfect in a quiet neighborhood. The property is elevated from the beach which is nice for privacy. Getting down to the beach requires climbing down some large rocks and may be harder for older folks, but was fine for our younger crew. (There is a way to get there, just requires a little more walking to a public access path.) Air ventilation was great with the louvered windows and fans - no need for A/C. The home needs a few updates which is the only reason holding us back from a 5 star review - overall 4.5 stars. Mahalo!

The Point House is lovely, has history and is very relaxing.

  • 4 of 5

Great views of the ocean. A little bit of rock steps to get onto the beach, or can walk down a few houses for easy access. Nice beach, but not really swimmable. Long walks on the beach are very doable, here. Lots of surfers to watch, though. The only thing was the smallness of the showers. The third shower, outside, is completely private, though, so that is a bonus. The owner is really nice.... very helpful and very generous with his time and his approach with renters. Safe area.... walkable to some restaurants and a short drive to many. Short drive to swimmable beaches. I would definitely definately stay here again.

A week staying at the Point House paradise suite

  • 5 of 5

There really are not words to express what a beautiful home the Point House is. I can say this, the pictures just do not do this beautiful home justice. I don't know if any picture actually can. My family's jaws dropped when we went through the gate and witnessed the beauty of the Backyards surf break. The living room picture is not Photoshopped that's how close to the ocean the home is! The Point House is the oldest house on the North Shore built in 1926, and had everything and more then what a newly built house has. Don't even get me going on the sunsets! We enjoyed them every night as a family and now have those memories that will live with us for the rest of our lives. Susan our property manager was very nice and made us feel very welcomed. We will absolutely be back again! Mahalo.

We just left paradise! Perfection.

  • 5 of 5

Words can't really express the incredible experience our stay at the Point House was. It far surpassed every expectation we had! Even though the pictures show great views, you arent prepared for the vision you see when you walk through the little red gate! The beauty and grandeur brought tears to my eyes. The house is beyond adorable, a perfect quaint little beach house. Surrounded by views of the glorious North Shore you can't soak in the sights enough. From the waves lulling you to sleep at night to waking up with coffee and mimosas in the morning watching surfers on the massive waves.. sunsets from the lanai are the best on the island! And even some distant whale sightings. We would have been content to never leave. Mike and Linda were the sweetest and most gracious hosts! And have everything there for your comfort. Mike truly wants you to enjoy your vacation without being was so helpful! My only regret is we had so much to see on the island we didn't get to enjoy the home enough. Come back for sunset every night. Trust me it's the best you will find. I can't wait to return, because now I must! Next time we will soak in the perfect location quite a bit more! If you want to experience the beauty of Hawaii without the hustle and bustle of tourists. Look no further! Thanks for opening up your little treasure to us! Jenn, Jeff, Eli and Kate!

Owner's Response: WOW Makes what we are doing in our retirement well worth it. Many families return yearly and it is wonderful watching the children grow up. Point House has been a family vacation beach house for almost a 100 years and we are privileged to keep the tradition alive and take the responsibility seriously.
