Low cost alternative in high cost city
We actually liked the neighborhood and used the metro to get around. However, since the apartment was dirty, lacked a few curtains in the one bedroom, and we had to have help in getting the TV hooked back up to the cable box, having to ask for more than one bath towel for two people etc., we were not impressed with the cleaners or management of the site. We did receive our damage deposit, which was a concern because one of the kitchen drawer facing panels came off when we opened it. Documented it with pictures. If the cleaning issues are resolved, I could recommend.
We enjoyed staying in the less touristy 11th arrondissement in a Haussmann apartment building with a metro stop right across the street and a small grocery store next door. We also found that the apartment was bigger than the places we've stayed before. It was nice to have room to spread out a bit. My only complaint was the lack of towels for the kitchen and bath. There was one kitchen towel, one bath sized towel, and two small towels (a little bigger than hand towels). There were two of us staying for 11 days. I sent the owner an email about having only one bath towel and did not get a response. Other than that small inconvenience, we liked the apartment and felt quite comfortable there.
Thank you for staying in my apartment. I did not receive your email concerning the towels. I am sorry for this. I bought 2 big towels and also 2 others for the kitchen.
Thanks for your comment. It helps me to make my apartment more comfortable.
Great little apartment. All went very well.
Nice little apartment. Clean and very convenient to everything. We would definitely stay here again when in Paris.
I spent only one night (from 4 planned) and here are the main reasons:
* Bed dressed with wet sheets: the sheets and some duvet covers were wet (in the bed) because they didn’t have enough time to dry it, remember, this happened during the winter!
*Dirty floors: when I walked wearing only socks for a couple of hours, my white socks became a dark grey, which myself and my family were blamed for it. After complaining, the manager said that my family had dirty shoes, which explain the dirty floor (even under the couch hahahahaha).
Drain in the shower blocked: the drain was blocked and water would go everywhere in the bathroom. After complaining again, the manager said that nobody never complained about it.
Summary: they do not proper inspect the apartment before the next customers and if you complain you are going to be blamed for it, or the manager will tell “the girls didn’t tell me (which I suppose the ones responsible for cleaning).
It should be responsibility of the management guarantee that basic checks are done instead trying to find excuses.
About the building:
Outside is gorgeous and the location is good but....
*Scary and out of date downstairs: the entrance hall of the apartment remind me a cheap horror movie: dark, dirty and wet, already giving you a clue of what you are going to find upstairs.
Dirty and out of date lift: the lift has to bê updated!
I am really sorry for this experience that you describe as bad.
This is the first time a tenant complains.
However, when Hajer realized that some of the fitted sheet was wet, she changed it.
When you returned to the apartment, the floor was clean. An inventory is always done at the entrance for tenants are reassured and if problem, we do what is necessary.
As for the shower, there was a blockage because of fallen hair. This can happen as in all showers. I am sorry.
The interior of the building is old but clean. The lift is controlled according to the standards in force in France. He never broke down.
I understand your distress but you decided to leave the apartment without telling me when I answered all your requests in due time.
I continue to receive very good comments about my apartment and this is the first time I receive such a negative message.
I will make sure that this situation does not happen again.
This apartment is on the fourth floor and yes there is a small lift. The place looks just like the photos. The entrance is a bit rough looking but not the apartment. Hajer was very welcoming and Kader was very kind to let us stay longer than the listed time of departure (we had a late afternoon flight). Close to the Metro, the Ateliers de Luminaries show (amazing but buy your tickets online) and you can walk to the Père Lachiaise cemetery. Enjoy!
Very comfy and quiet
Having the metro station just across the street and the elevator in the building certainly helps when traveling with small kids. The supermarket downstairs is a plus. It is a good size apartment and the sofa bed is comfortable.
Many restaurants nearby, including in the area Oberkamph. 1 Monoprix nearby bakery.
